Creative Art Camp

Ages 5-10
Colleen Doeleman. This camp is designed
for students of all ages who wish to explore
the world of creative painting. Children will
enjoy learning various painting techniques using non-toxic Acrylic Paints. Each class will be
centered on a new painting project to expand
artistic horizons, creativity and imagination. Painting is a fun and wonderful way to express
yourself and build self-esteem. A supply fee
of $35 per student is payable to the instructor at the first class. Recreation Center.

KCMT Musical Theater Workshop Kitsap Children’s Musical Theatre Staff.
This camp fills up fast, so don’t wait to register! Campers age 7-12 will have a blast

they prepare a fantastic musical production. Camp will culminate in a full musical performance open to families and the public on Fridays: July 1, 15 & 29. You will be amazed at

Anna Hickner of Kitsap Mosaics. Have
you seen the beautiful underwater mural at
the Recreation Center? Last summer’s campers had so much fun working on this beautiful piece of art, along with a project for themselves. Come join the fun! Students will be
introduced to mosaics and will conspire and
create another beautiful piece of art for the city.
Who knows where this new one will end up?
Campers will also choose a project to work on

Culinary Adventures Camp

Laura Rencher. Let the cooking extravaganza begin! Create delicious food inspired by
cuisine from around the world. Culinary adventurers will have an absolute blast learning

their new skills and knowledge home to cook

Laura Rencher. Explore the outdoors
by learning about birds, insects, spiders, and
mammals as we explore the ponds, meadows,
forests and streams. We will learn about bird
adaptations, discover the life cycle of insects
and amphibians, and investigate predator/
prey relationships of mammals. We will play
games, make crafts, and go on adventures.

opportunity to have fun and get exercise while
learning about the earth and environment.
This is a well rounded camp with a nature
outing, hands-on science lesson, educational snack and recycled craft each day. The
environmental science curriculum includes
games and activities for your child to make a
solar oven, make a personalized tote-bag from
an old t-shirt, do the ocean acidification experiment, play the Endangered Species Treasure
Hunt, High Tide - Low Tide and much more.

Presented by Western Washington University’s Youth Programs in partnership
with the City of Poulsbo Parks and Recreation. Western Kids Camp encourages young
students to discover the fun of being on a college campus as they explore academic and
recreational enrichment. Students will spend
their mornings with teaching staff investigating
hands-on environmental and marine science
themes at the Poulsbo Marine Science Center
and will fill their afternoons with recreation activities with Parks and Recreation staff. In addition to forging new friendships and learning
new skills, Western Kids Camp encourages

a large ball. Mr. Webb runs the RATS program and has many years of experience with

Thunderbolts Summer Track Camp Ages 6-14 Greg Chapman. This fun-filled and focused
camp is open to all kids who are interested in
learning the fundamentals of track and field. Five days of running, jumping and throwing
through drills and games that teach fitness
and the fundamentals of sprints, middle and
long distance running, cross country, long
jumping, javelin throwing, hurdles and relays. The camp will finish with a camp track meet on

Lacrosse Summer Camp!

Boys and Girls, going into grades 3-8 in
Sept 2016.
Come and find out what all the fun is about!
This is the perfect opportunity to learn about
the fastest game on two feet and to improve
one’s lacrosse skills. The camp is offered by
the North Kitsap Lacrosse Club and will
cover the skills of lacrosse - catching, throwing, cradling, checking, play of the game,
rules, etc. Individual skill work, drills and team
competitions will be an integral part of the
camp. The camps are open to all regardless
of residency. Registration is through Poulsbo
Parks and Recreation, with registration fees
paid to the City of Poulsbo. Refundable deposits of $75 for use of boy’s equipment
(stick, helmet, pads and gloves) or $75 for
use of girl’s equipment (goggles and stick)
should be paid to North Kitsap Lacrosse.
All players must provide their own mouthguard and cleats. Camp will be held on NK
area fields.

Youth Summer Camps
Poulsbo Summer Sailing Camps
Is there anything better than summer sun
on Liberty Bay? 2015 was a fantastic year
for our Poulsbo Summer Sailing classes
and 2016 is gearing up for another fun filled
summer. Youth sailing classes for ages 8-16
will be be held at the Port of Poulsbo (near
the boat launch).
Students must have beginner swimming skills and provide their own Coast
Guard-approved life jackets. The all-day
classes will be conducted in Opti and FJ class
sailboats. FJ’s are approximately 14’ with a
beam of 5’, and are an ideal sailing dinghy to
teach young sailors the skills of boat handling
and racing. The Opti class is a self-righting
dinghy that was developed especially for junior training. The Opti is used for our younger
sailors, and is a more stable design, while still
performing well in a breeze. Instruction and
boat type will be based on student skills.
The purpose of our sailing camps is to
learn sailing skills, boating safety, and to have
fun! Please remember, however, that sailing
can at times be dangerous and students must
be willing to work hard each day. Capsizing
for the “fun” of it will not be tolerated. A Coast
Guard-approved life jacket must be worn at
all times on the dock and in the water.

days, swimsuit, change of clothes, softsoled footwear (something you do not
mind getting wet), sunscreen, sunglasses
and/or a hat, and clothing appropriate for
the weather. Wetsuits will be used on
