You have probably already noticed the work that has been done on five greens
on our wonderful Tillinghast golf course. Despite the harsh winter, we are
confident that these newly-renovated greens, along with the others, will be in
fine shape for the upcoming golf season. Our new 13th hole will also be in
continuous use after opening day. (The only exception to this may be a very
short term disruption in conjunction with the new entrance road into the Club
from Lambert's Mill.)
Remember also that the cart and bag storage facilities, along with the caddie
house and bag drop, are now located adjacent to the first tee.
For our ladies, we are trying to make some improvements in their locker room
facilities before the season gets fully underway.
DAVID ELLIOTT
DIRECTOR OF GOLF
908-233-1300 EXT. 1261
Most significantly, our new pool facilities are scheduled to open Memorial Day
weekend. These facilities – including an adult-only area, pool locker rooms,
swim up bar, snack bar, state-of-the-art hot-tub, cabanas, and an expansive
deck area with great lounges and furniture – will be an exciting new addition.
Along with our traditional season-opening reception for the membership, we
will also have a pool grand opening celebration that we hope all can attend.

Let's collectively cross our fingers for an early end to this nasty cold weather,

Ringing in
the New Year!
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome
all of our members back to what promises to be
a fantastic year at Shackamaxon Country Club.
We are all ready to shake off the winter cold and
snow and start enjoying the club and all its amenities.
2015 will mark the debut of our resort-style pool complex,
5 new greens on the front nine of the golf course, continued
enhancements within Totem Fitness, and emphasis on enhancing
our members’ experience at Shackamaxon.
We have a limited number of Full Golf Memberships available
as well as our new Sports (Pool) Membership. Current members
have the option to elect a Pool Add On to their current membership enabling them to utilize and enjoy Shackamaxon’s Pool
Complex. I will be happy to answer any questions in regard to
that option.
There are many other golf and non-golf events being planned
for the 2015 season and I hope to see many of our members
participate in the festivities. If I can be of any assistance please
do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to seeing you
all at the Club!
Amanda Maloney
Director of Member Events
Welcome back!
I am entering my third season here at
Shackamaxon Country Club and could not
be more excited about the progress that has been made and
what the upcoming season will bring. Last year was, without
a doubt, the best in a long time for club events. I envision 2015
being even better.
The brand new, resort-style pool complex will bring an even
greater opportunity for enhanced member events for both adults
and children. Annual events like our summer holiday BBQs
and Margaritaville will be bigger and better. Also new this
season is the addition of KE Camps, Shackamaxon's own
Children's Summer Camp. You can find more information about
this on page 7 of the newsletter. Our Director of Golf, David
Elliott, has created an exciting tournament schedule of golf
events for men, women, juniors and couples. I look forward to
working with both the golf and food and beverage team to
make these events extraordinary.
The Members Only website has been a great addition to our
communications and operations. On the site, you will find
the most up-to-date information and have the ability to make
tee times and dining reservations, as well as to sign up for
tournaments, events and clinics. If ever you need assistance,
please do not hesitate to contact me. I cannot wait to see
everyone back at the Club!

Director of Food & Beverage
I am looking forward to seeing our
members back for the 2015 season. Our
team has been diligently preparing over
the past few months and have put several
changes into place. The food and beverage schedule has
been expanded, always giving you a place to grab a burger
and a beer.
We are creating new menus for the season, keeping some
of your old favorites while adding brand new creations.
Join us for lunch this month to try them out! Throughout
March, we will have Fireside Dinner every Friday and
will then debut our brand new a la carte menu in April.
You will notice a lot of familiar smiling faces as many of
our key staff members will be returning in the spring.
Your feedback is always appreciated! Either myself or
Morgan will always be available at the Club or you may
email me at [email protected].
I’m looking foward to a memorable year at the Club.

Joe Bush
Director of Instruction
The Shackamaxon Golf Professionals
are excited about the 2015 Junior
Golf Program. Last season, hundreds
of juniors, ranging from ages 5 to 17,
participated in the numerous clinics, camps, and our
"Friday Night Lights" on-course golfing series. We
also formed the first ever "Shack Attack" team made
up of 7-13 year-old junior golfers who competed in
the PGA Junior Golf League. All of these events
will be back, along with a Junior Club Championship.
Planning is underway to expand and enhance our
2015 programs for junior golfers of all abilities.
We encourage all interested parents to come to our
Parent Information Session on Thursday, March
12th, at 6pm, at which you will receive more detailed
information, and Jay Orsino and I will be on hand to
answer any questions you may have.

“I am writing this letter in stellar praise of Joe Bush, the Director of
Instruction at Shackamaxon Country Club. We had been trying to give
our daughters, who are 13 and 10, golf lessons for the past 2 years with
various teachers and no success. It wasn't until our daughters met
Joe that they took off with a new found love of the game. I can't thank
him enough or give more compliments to Joe. He is a patient and kind
teacher who makes a tough game enjoyable and engaging. He has a
rare and innate ability to read and work with children and teens. My
13 year-old daughter said "I hated this in the beginning, but because
of Joe, I love it and want to try out for the high school golf team."
We look forward to next spring to continue our lessons. We hope he
earns the highest respect in your organization as he well deserves.”

2015 Women’s Golf Program
The 2014 season was a great leap in expanding the women's
golf program. It was great to see so many more women out
on the course enjoying the game. We even crowned a
2014 Women's Club Champion, Fredda Siegel.
The Tuesday "Ladies’ Days" saw tremendous participation
and enabled us to reserve the course on those mornings
for women only. For the upcoming 2015 season, along with
periodic large group clinics, Shack will be adding a clinic
series for smaller groups focusing on specific objectives.
They will include a beginner series, short game series,
and a play on the course series.
Our goal is simple for the 2015 season: let's get more
women involved and out on our wonderful course
to enjoy the great game of golf!

Golf
David Elliott
Director of Golf
Thank goodness another golf season is
upon us! After a long and snowy winter,
I am excited for the season to get underway. The entire golf and bag room staff
will be returning for the new season. I believe that the
programs we initiated last season will be even better with
a year’s experience under our belts.
Our Junior Golf Program took off last summer and will be
even better this year. Assistant Professional, Jay Orsino,
will focus on a larger “SNAG” golf program as well as
Junior golf camps, evening tournaments, clinics, and
individual junior golf lessons. Tim Haney, who you will
recognize from the bar room and caddying, will be moving
inside to become our newest Assistant Golf Professional.
Tim will be instrumental in helping out with the junior golf
clinics and tournament operations.
Our Director of Instruction, Joe Bush, will continue to
offer individual and group lessons, as well as instructional
video (for those brave enough to actually see what their
swing looks like on video!), and “on-course” game management lessons. Remember, all the members of our staff are
available for lessons. So if one staff member is busy, anyone
else will be more than happy to help you.
As always, we are happy to have Howard Drewes back
to manage our outside services and caddy program.
This season, I would also like to encourage our staff to get
out and play golf with the membership whenever possible.
Please do not hesitate to ask a member of the staff to fill out
your foursome if the opportunity arises. It is always a lot of
fun for us to get out and spend some time on-course with
members.
The member tournament calendar will be busy again this
season. One addition to the calendar, that I am very excited
to announce, is the first annual "Shackamaxon CC Invitational.” This will be a two-day Men’s Member-Guest in late
June. The official entry form for this will be going out this
spring.
We have some wonderful lines of men’s and women’s apparel on the way this spring, and I have joined the Mizuno
Golf Staff this season. Mizuno, along with Callaway,
Taylormade and Titleist offer what I feel are the best woods
and irons in the business. We will continue to offer the latest technology for both instruction and custom club fitting.
Please stop by the shop and say “Hi.” I can’t wait for the
season to get started, and my staff and I look forward to a
great year.

Turkey Shoot 2014
Richard Tacconelli
Course Superintendent
The greens department has been diligently
working throughout the winter to get the
golf course in the best condition possible.
While the snow was a challenge, we were
able to complete a number of course improvement projects,
including:
• Spring Cleaning: hole by hole golf course cleanup
continues.
• Cart Path Repairs: filling in ruts and holes. You will find
the cart paths are now smoother and more pleasurable to
drive on.
• Ornamental grasses have been added to the right side
fence along #2 green and along the fence line behind
#6 green. This will help screen car traffic and beautify
the area.
• The new back tee on hole #3 is ready for play.
• The new #9 tees are ready for play.
• Newly designed tee markers have been placed on all holes.
• New mounds have been completed to the right of
#1 fairway, the right of #9 fairway and to the left of
#10 fairway.
• The new #13 green and tees are ready for play.
• New bent grass sod cover for the greens on holes
#2, #3, #6 and #9 will reopen in April.
• Flowerbeds are being prepared for new annuals that
will complement the improvements made throughout
the golf course.
Thank you to the membership and owners for your kind
words of support. The grounds crew staff are eagerly
preparing for the new season and are looking forward
to a great 2015.
