Schrader’s purge valves are used to purge the engine before delivery, and to make direct pressure measurements in the engine during service. Schrader’s engine purge valves consist of a Schrader core screwed into a metal body. Most valves are mounted in the engine injection rail. A seal on the valve body ensures sealing with the engine or rail, and a sealed cap protects the completed system. Schrader designs and produces engine purge valves as SAFETY products. • • • • • • • Material: brass, nickel plated brass, aluminum FPM rubbers Grey or Blue Cap with NBR or FPM rubber Flow rate: 11 m3 /h air at 7 bar Leakage: < 0.2 cc /min at 5 bar at 20°C Fuel compatibility: M15 – E22 – M3TBA2 100% leak control on automatic assembly line Air-conditioning automotive applications Schrader’s air conditioning filling valves are primarily used for loading vehicle air conditioning circuits with gas, and during service to purge the circuits before refilling. The product consists of a valve stem, valve core, and plastic cap. • • • • • • • • • • • • • 4 Material: Aluminum 6082 Body designs: saddle, bore and banjo In accordance with SAE J639 Gas compatibility: 134a, 1234yf and CO2 Oil compatibility: PAG, POE Compatible with a wide range of air conditioning couplers High flow core design Core rubber: CR, FPM, HNBR, EDPM Long design cap with seal for better protection Flow rate: 6 m3 /h mini air at 7 bar Air leak rate: < 0.2 cc /min at 5 bar at 20°C Permeability: < 5 g /year 100% leak and vision control on automatic assembly line PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES Gasoline High Pressure Relief Valves Schrader, the expert in engine valves, produces a SAFETY valve for high pressure gasoline engines. The Schrader High Pressure Relief Engine Valve (HPRV) is mounted on the high-pressure gasoline rail, and exhausts gas through the return line if engine over-pressure occurs. The engine HPRV consists of a brass body, filter, ball and seat. Special spring O-ring seals ensure air tightness between the valve and engine. The seat’s cone is manufactured with high precision to ensure proper sealing with the ball (circularity and surface finish). The Schrader HPRV is manufactured on a fully automated assembly machine with multiple poke-yokes. Each HPRV is calibrated to the customer’s specific set-point requirement, 100% tested for opening and re-close pressure, and 100% leak-tested. • Opening pressure: 122.5 bar ±2.5 bar with atmosphere in return line at a flow rate of 1.6 L /h • Closing pressure: > 112 bar with atmosphere in return line at a flow rate of 1.6 L /h • Low hysteresis: < 10 % Flow L /h Pressure and Flow Pressure Bar • Other opening pressure are available • Our HPRV are designed to meet every OEM performance specification • All test benches are available internally for design validation 5 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES Diesel High Pressure Relief Valves: 2 stages Safety PRV for high pressure, for example on diesel high pressure management. Functional sketch: In case of pressure higher than requested by the system, it is necessary to avoid equipment damages and inform the user that a dysfunction appears without completely stopping the engine. Therefore a special technology has been developed to relieve the pressure in case of over pressure. Sequence in case of over pressure: • The fluid pushes the ball. When the fluid pressure on the sealed area is higher than effort given by the spring, the ball opens the hole. • The fluid pressure concern a larger area (head of the plunger) therefore the effort to the spring gets higher. • The plunger opens a radial hole to relieve the fluid, therefore the pressure is regulated at a lower level. • To reset the PRV, it is necessary to remove pressure into the valve (Stop the pump, for example) and restart the system. Closed position 6 Fluid opened position Opened position PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES Pressure bar Pressure curve Time (sec) Advantages: 2-Stages PRV procures several advantages regarding a standard PRV: • After each over pressure the level of regulated pressure is lower than the protection level. • This technology: - Avoids vibration between plunger sealing area and seat. - Obliges the user to maintain the system. The PRV cannot be used as a pressure regulator. Thanks to the patented Schrader technology called “free ball”: PATENT N° 1253400 • The ratio between first opening pressure and second level can be defined at the conception step in a very large range. • The seat can be easy machined and made with very hard raw material (Quenched steel, ceramic…) to maximize the quality of this critical functional area. • The free ball replaces expensive and not accurate plunger machined. • Only one static sealing is requested. 7 PRESSURE REGULATOR Scroll Valves The Schrader scroll valve regulates the pressure in any gas circuit through a bellow. This is a completely mechanical regulation system with no electronics. The scroll is mounted in applications such as air conditioning compressors. It’s a clever design based on a simple mechanical concept, and is consequently also a robust design. The pressure is regulated by the special bellow. The Schrader scroll valve is manufactured on a fully automated assembly machine with multiple poke-yokes. Each valve is calibrated to the customer’s specific set-point requirement, 100% tested for pressure, and 100% leak tested. The scroll valve is easily adjustable for new pressures. The burst valve consists of a calibrated metal burst disk which burst due to overpressure. Several packaging are available and several burst pressures are available. Technical specifications: For example for CO2 transcritic applications • Burst pressure: 120 ± 10 bar • Gas emissions: < 1 g /year For Aircraft tyre : Burst pressure • At 20°C: > 25,1 bar • At 200°C: < 41 bar One-Way Valves Schrader International designs and produces also one way valves, for example made of stainless steel. The design can be adjusted in accordance with customer needs.
