Where Potential
Becomes Reality
for the
Emerging Adult
Way.pointe noun \wā-point\
A point on a
journey where
a traveler can
refocus and
change course.
Our Mission
aypointe helps young men transition to
responsible and engaged adulthood by
providing highly individualized care, including
expert mental health treatment, personalized
educational and vocational guidance, and
supported social integration. We strive to
help young men better know and appreciate
themselves and their talents, take better care of their bodies and mind, become engaged in their community and live with direction and purpose.
We aggressively
pursue three primary
outcomes for our
participants:
Emotional
well-being
Social
engagement
Personal
productivity
The journey to
adulthood is
not always
easy or direct...
For those times,
there’s Waypointe
aypointe is a premier young adult transitional
program designed for emerging adult men ages 18-26 who are experiencing challenges with
becoming self-sufficient and finding their purpose,
while also struggling with mental illness or co-occurring disorders.
As the definition implies, Waypointe serves as an
opportunity for the emerging adult man to get
refocused and chart a new, more purposeful course for his life.
The first young adult treatment program of its kind in
New Jersey, Waypointe provides highly individualized
care and attention, exceptional clinical treatment,
social engagement, educational guidance, and vocational development in a comfortable residential
environment.
Each young man is given the tools to help him find his way, engage his talents and launch into a more meaningful and productive future.
Waypointe
serves as an
opportunity for the
emerging adult man
to get refocused
and chart a new,
more purposeful
course for his life.
The Problem...
ith increasing frequency, today’s youth
are less prepared to leave their parents’ home, succeed in college, live independently and become
self-supporting adults. Add to that the challenge of managing
mental health symptoms and the prevalence of comorbid substance
abuse, along with the dysfunction that can develop in many family
systems as a result, and these emerging adults are facing obstacles
that can be at best, hindering; and, at worse, crippling to their
development into a healthy, functioning adult.
...and the Solution
t Waypointe, we offer a comprehensive,
wrap around package of services that are
uniquely individualized for each young man

a developmental transition to independent
young adulthood.
The Young Men
of Waypointe
aypointe serves emerging adult men
ages 18-26 who have a primary mental
health diagnosis. These young men have
likely encountered great difficulty leaving
home and beginning a journey toward
a self-supported life due to their mental
health symptoms or a lack of adequate
preparation (or both).
Past experiences may include:
One or more attempts at
employment or college admission
without finding the ability to get firmly established.
Losing sight of or not being able to fully engage their talents
and potential, therefore not finding purpose or direction in life.
One or more hospitalizations or unsuccessful outcomes in
traditional outpatient settings.
The term
“failure to launch”
is sometimes used
to refer to this
dilemma, but at
Waypointe
we don’t see these
young adults as
failing, but rather
struggling to find
passion and direction
in life. As a result they
need a place to stop,
reassess, and chart a
new course.

aypointe is located on the border of picturesque Hunterdon and
Somerset counties in a tastefully appointed, 5,000 square foot, European-style manor home, including a private bedroom and bathroom
for each participant, a gourmet kitchen, a billiards and game room, a library and TV lounge. With over two acres of property which includes
an in-ground pool, Waypointe provides a serene, peaceful setting, and
is situated near horse farms and golf courses and in a region with many
outdoor recreational opportunities.
Situated just 90 minutes from New York City and Philadelphia, this prime

and cultural opportunities.
Coming to Waypointe
or a Waypointe participant, receiving the optimal care and
attention begins with the very first inquiry. Our approach is to truly get
to know the prospective participant and his family in order to ensure
an appropriate match and to design the optimal package of services
that best meets the participant’s needs. The Waypointe director will
personally facilitate this from the start, either by telephone, Skype, and/or personal interview.
Both the prospective client and his parent(s) complete an application that not only gathers needed information, but also begins the
engagement process. Additionally, contact with the prospective
participant’s team at home (therapist, psychiatrist, case manager, etc.)
will also take place to ensure coordinated care and treatment.
