Our Junior Player Pathway…Where to begin and how to progress
Level 1
• Learn the fundamentals of the game: Sending / Receiving Skills and ‘Ready Condition’.
• Learning the key strokes of the game: Forehands, Backhands, Serving and Volleying .
• Learn the rules / etiquette of the game and how to compete.
Level 2
• Have all the fundamentals in place: Developing spins, grip changes and tactics.
• Developing consistency in all fundamental strokes, whist introducing a wider variety of strokes.
• Competing more regularly in local events and club matches.
Level 3
• Have an unfaltering attitude to consistently performing quality fundamentals.
• Have good levels of consistency in all fundamental strokes.
• Competing regularly at external and internal tournaments.

Home Education Sessions (age 5 upwards)
We are proud to be part of the Home ed community at Beauchief Tennis Club. Our ‘Home Ed’ sessions are for children who are
schooled at home. These sessions cater for mixed ability children of all ages.
We split our home Ed. children into the following groups…
Mini Red (5-8 years)
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game
and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
Mini Orange (8 & 9 Years)
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red. It is played with shorter rackets, softer
balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a
rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.
Green Ball Tennis (10-12 years)
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full size tennis court,
with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow
balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.
Full Ball Tennis (11 years upwards)
Full ball tennis is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Green. It is played on a full size court with full
compression yellow balls and is the final stage of junior tennis helping players progress through to adult tennis.
While the children are playing the parents can get involved with…..
Cardio Tennis (mixed)
Cardio Tennis is a fun fast paced tennis fitness session - designed to beat the bore of the gym by woking out to music with a racket. No
level is required for this group. and is s a great way to get fit, meet new people and get involved with the club.

Adult Beginner / Improver Coaching
Structured coaching on the basic shots, grips, positions, how to score, play points and keep a rally going. This will also include some fun
and games and tennis drills to sharpen you up.
