in brief
our solution
SIGTRAN stands for SIGnalling
TRANsport. It is a standardized IP
protocol developed by the IETF
(Internet Engineering Task Force)
work group and enables the
transport of signalling over IP.
World leader in roaming signalling Orange has more than 15
years’ experience and the widest roaming coverage (over
900 ITU and ANSI destinations) worldwide to offer. Our SS7
offer meets all the needs of mobile operators in terms of
quality, security and international coverage with a complete
set of services: SMS Control, SS7 MoRe, Prepaid SMS,
Anti spoofing, Alliage Short Code and Optimum Roaming.
This protocol was developed to face
the SS7 overload issue because of
the limitation to only 16 channels
for TDM.
glossary
STP: Signalling Transfer Point
SCTP: Stream Control Transfer Protocol
VPN: Virtual Private Network
Besides the traditional connectivity via TDM, we offer
SIGTRAN connectivity: SS7 VPN SIGTRAN.
The SS7 VPN SIGTRAN connection consists in providing
you with IP connectivity from our PE (Provider’s End
Routers) to our STP equipments.
Thanks to the SCTP protocol and Multi-Homing
mechanisms, SS7 VPN SIGTRAN provides you with:
 a high level of quality of service, similar to that of SS7 over
TDM (traditional SS7 network), using 2 different SIGTRAN
VPN paths
 the same security level and connection availability
 more bandwidth: no more capacity limitation
For best in class QoS levels, this service is also available
via our Multiservice IP eXchange offer
The introduction of SIGTRAN in the SS7 offer
improves the quality of transport for SS7 signalling
over IP and allows you to face the network overload
issue. Positioned as a follow-up to the traditional
SS7 offer, SS7 VPN SIGTRAN will replace the
existing narrowband SS7 for roaming traffic.
high quality of service
We commit to high service availability by ensuring delivery, as well as network and circuit quality
by means of top-level SLAs.
increased signalling capacity
Our solution helps you face the growing SS7 traffic that traditional TDM SS7 can barely support
by removing the 16x64 kbps TDM bandwidth capacity limitation.
cost effective solution
Our offer reduces costs of link operating and monitoring; higher bandwidth facilitates signalling
links load monitoring and reduces links quantity requirements. No more need to add new point
codes or to reconfigure the network to solve bottlenecks.
differentiate from competitors
Facilitate migration to next-generation architectures as SIGTRAN is used by 3GPP R4 (MSC
Split Architecture) and R5 (IMS).

network B.
Hubbing model:
Currently, lengthy and costly bilateral

The transmission of Multicast content enables customers to optimize their bandwidth.
The multicast dynamic routing policy is based on the PIM, MSDP and MBGP protocols.
blackholing
Blackholing was implemented to protect our customers from distributed denial of service attacks.

City to City solution (C2C)
City to City is an international dedicated
point-to-point bandwidth product. Standard rates are 2,
34/45, 155, 622 Mbps or 2.5Gbps on SDH/Sonet
technology and 2.5 to 10 Gbps (and soon 40Gbps) on
WDM.
benefits
 granularity and flexibility of bandwidth
 ability to connect to the biggest European metropolis as well as
Singapore, New York City and the Orange African footprint
IPL+ - C2C variation
It requires submarine capacity and provides a part of an
end-to-end circuit between 2 international cities where
Orange service stops at the Cable Head Landing Station
(CHLS) of a submarine cable in the distant country.
For specific cases with no terrestrial path, Wet Capacity can
be offered to our customers as submarine cable capacity only,
between 2 CHLS.
Long Distance Ethernet (LDE) - C2C variation.
It provides any customer with an Ethernet access point
between two cities in Europe provided that the customer
site is located in the vicinity of an LDE PoP. LDE is a layer2
service built over the transmission layer. Standard rates
are 150, 300, 450, 600, 750, 900Mbps or 1Gbps.
benefits: With Ethernet interfaces the total cost is limited compared to classic SDH.
And also…
Backhaul solution is the terrestrial termination of submarine capacity, from a Cable Head Landing
Station (CHLS) to one Point of Presence (PoP) or directly to a customer site over SDH/Sonet or WDM
technology. Standard rates are the same as C2C.
benefits: your on-net submarine cable traffic can be terminated to many PoPs destinations in Europe, New York
City and Singapore via Orange terrestrial network.
Housing: customer’s transmission equipment can be hosted in Orange premises. Housing can only be
sold bundled or packaged with other offers such as City-to-City and its variations.
value added services options
MSP 1+1 (Multiplex Section Protection) - available for all services.
It is an acces protection, based on interface card and « in house cabling » redundancy.
benefits: lower risk of outage, increased security for higher access.
Restoration - available on City-to-City and IPL+.
It provides you with a back-up for its submarine capacity on its C2C or IPL+ section, in case of failure on
the initial submarine trunk.
benefits: your traffic is restored in a few hours or even immediately on certain links.
