Filmed near Bath, Charles Crighton directed this classic comedy of a small community eager to save its railway from closure by running it themselves. The main star is ‘Lion’ - an engine built in 1838. OH MR PORTER! (1937 BW 85m) Tuesday 12th July - 7.15pm. Mainly set in Ireland (but actually filmed in Hampshire) this comedy follows the misadventures and exploits of the new Sta onmaster at Buggleskelly. Marcel Verner directs and Will Hay stars. Three top local bands take to the UGT stage tonight: An acoustic folk, pop, rock, bluegrass duo followed by “acoustic guitars & percussion with vocal harmonies and a Crowded House vibe...“ then a band “sounding like Crazy Horse colliding with Fleetwood Mac on a dusty road”. A high-energy tribute to Jake & Elwood Blues featuring all the great songs from the film, as well as other classic soul tunes. No detail is le out, from the dance moves to the famous quotes & more. Duo bring their three concert survey of the Beethoven Sonatas for Violin & Piano, and our 17th season of Chamber Recitals, to a close with the 10th Sonata in G of 1812 and the mighty ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata of 1803, probably the most famous violin sonata ever wri en.
