Nilza Isabel Matavel is an Environmental Engineer. She has worked at Justiça Ambiental as
an environmental activist and researcher since 2008, in the organization’s forest and agrofuels campaigns.
Since February 2011, she has worked as a Research Assistant in a pilot environmental
education program called "Pequenas Gestos Grandes Mudanças" (meaning Small Gestures,
Big Changes) about Water and Climate Change in Maputo. The program is partnered with
the Faculty of Education at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane and is implemented in two
schools (public and private) in Maputo city – Escola Secundária Eduardo Mondlane and
Colégio Árco-Íris l. The program reaches a total of 150 students.
