SavingsSpecial This is the New Year, and a time to think about how much you can save and deposit into your Penny Savers account. It’s a really good idea to make saving a habit because it will help you as you get older – for when you want to buy something special, when you’re ready for college or want to buy your first car, or you need spending money when taking a nice vacation. Plan to save at least half of all the money you receive and you’ll be surprised how fast your savings will add up. Plus, when you do one of the following, you’ll receive a Credit Union Advantage piggy bank.* • Make a $25 deposit into your Penny Savers account, or • Open a new Youth Add-On CD with an initial deposit of $25 or more. *Offer for Penny Savers members only, while supplies last. Plan To Save During Our EASTER EGG SAVING PROMOTION Everyone Is a Winner! From March 1st – 25th, every time you come to the credit union office to make a deposit for $5 or more, you’ll receive a plastic egg. Inside that egg is a piece of paper describing what your prize is. Everyone is a winner and you could receive: • McDonald’s gift certificate • CU Advantage drawstring backpack • Crafts • Flower highlighter • Pick from the toy chest • And more Plus, at each CU Advantage office there will be one $25 VISA gift card winner hidden inside an egg. Happy Birthday! Get a Fist Full of Coin! Stop into the credit union office during the week of your birthday and receive your birthday gift! Reach into our coin jar with one hand and grab a fist full of coin… and that’s the amount that we’ll deposit into your Penny Savers account for you. Only our Penny Savers members can reach into the jar (no parents or siblings please). Children too young to grab coins may have $5.00 deposited into their account when they visit the credit union office. Winners’ Corner Congratulations to Nikolas, the winner of our “Name Our Mascot” contest. Nikolas won a $25 deposit to his CU Advantage Penny Savers account. The winners of the Penny Savers Club 8’ holiday stockings, and Teen Club $100 VISA gift cards will be announced in the April 2016 newsletter, and the July 2016 Pennywise News. Pennywise News to Feature Penny Savers Photos! We hope you like the new format for your Pennywise News. For future issues, we'd like to feature our Penny Savers members in the three photos in the header. All Penny Savers can send photos, and we'll publish them in the order that they are received. Here's what you need to do: 1. Have your parent take a picture of you with a digital camera or smartphone. 2. Email your photo to [email protected]. Printed photos can also be mailed. 3. Be sure to name the file with your first and last name. However, we will only publish your first name. 4. Needs: Things that are required for comfort and life. When you have money, do you immediately start thinking about ways that you can spend it? There are two things that you can do with your money that can help you. Save: Make sure that every time that you have money that you save at least half. Put that money in your Penny Savers account. SNOWMEN FENCE Wants vs Needs: For the money you want to spend, figure out your “wants” and “needs.” Complete this crossword puzzle and you’ll see the difference between wants and needs and maybe it will help you decide how to save and spend your money. It’s bad for your teeth What you’ll need: • 2 paint stir sticks • 6 wide craft sticks (about ¾” wide x 6” long) • White craft paint • Colored markers for snowmen faces • Yarn, felt, buttons, pom poms, etc. for making outfits • Tacky glue • Hot glue gun (have an adult help you with this part) • Hot glue sticks • Ruler & scissors • String How to make it: • Paint the stir sticks & craft sticks white. Let dry. Do 2 coats if needed. • Make the snowmen faces with the colored markers. • Cut out hats and scarves and glue on each snowman (make different styles). Use your imagination. • Glue on buttons, pom poms, or anything you like for their buttons. • Glue the craft sticks to the back of the snowmen using the hot glue gun. Ask an adult for help with this part. Use enough glue to make it strong. • Tie string to each end of the top craft stick and hang it on your wall.
