Tis the Season - Rockwood Bank
WINTER 2013 Tis the Season Rockwood Bank’s version of Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree. Here is Greg & Jan Gates’ grandson Will having a blast in the red wagon they won from Rockwood Bank in our Christmas drawing. Charity of the Month Rockwood Bank was again a drop-off location for the Toys-4-Tots program. Our employees and customers managed to donate over 160 new toys to the Eureka effort and the High Ridge location filled their box three times for the North Jefferson County Chamber Drive! We were also a dropoff for the Winter’s WarmUp coat drive the previous months. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a better Christmas for all! We had scores of presents for our “Adopt-a” families this year. Thank you to everyone that gave to our families in need of a little help this Christmas. Three of our fearless employees braved the winter weather to participate in an Ugly Sweater Run on December 21st. The Train Men are Paul Doerr, Roland Burgess, Randy Geisler and Jim Brame. These men are wonderful, as they do all this as volunteers to make our customers and everyone else happy. The kids and adults alike loved the trains and the men did such a great job displaying all the old trains. Jean Tucker had the table set up for cookies and juice while the Eureka community enjoyed the trains. Marilyn and Jean enjoyed seeing some of our bank customers from Eureka that they don’t often get to see since they are located at our High Ridge and Wildwood branches. The Train guys were also featured at our Fenton location the weekend before Christmas. We’re not just a bank in your community, We’re your community bank. The Country Club at The Legends was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the food was delicious and the program was very nice. Our guests of honor were Randy Long and Laurie Esterlein as we paid tribute to their mother, Jan Long, and her many years of service to the Rockwood Bank Prestige Club. Karen, Marilyn and Jean welcomed all our guests. In December, we dedicated our Eureka popcorn machine to Bonne McFarland. She was a big part of Rockwood Bank and made popcorn for our bank customers for many years. Bonne McFarland Mar 8, 1921-Oct 16, 2013 Helen Devine and Laurie Esterline. Tony & Barb Hren with John & Rosemary Proctor. Jan's involvement in her community spanned over five decades serving as retired chairman of Long Ford Sales Inc., Double 4 Trailer Sales, 44 Auto Credit and Long’s Auto Center. Jan served on the board of directors of Rockwood Bank. She and her husband Wib were two of the original founders. She was an Ambassador of the Chamber of Commerce, founder and past president of both the Eureka Historical Society and Tri County Helpmates, member and past president of the Eureka Wednesday Club, along with numerous charitable organizations to which she volunteered her time. She was an active member in Sacred Heart Church. In 2004 she was named the Eureka Business Person of The Year and in 2010 named as one of the recipients of Lieutenant Peter Kinder's Senior Service Award. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the Eureka Community. Janice Long Feb 24, 1926-Mar 2, 2013 When you think of Bonne McFarland you think of a friendship that was a precious gift to anyone that knew her. Bonne was a special friend to the Rockwood Bank employees from the minute we opened the doors on February 5, 1990. She was always doing little things for the employees and for many years Bonne made sure the popcorn was popped every Friday. Our customers love the tradition that was started in 1990 and continues today at all of our locations. Bonne was a retired teacher from Eureka, MO. She belonged to many clubs and attended many functions in the Eureka area where she volunteered numerous hours helping where she could make a difference. Bonne had a hand in naming Rockwood Bank when she suggested the name to the original investors and Joseph Lunt, the bank’s president. All of us at Rockwood Bank and her many friends that traveled with Bonne on our Prestige Club trips these past years will cherish the times we shared making memories together. Friends like Bonne McFarland are rare as they spread giving, hope and love in everything they do. We will miss our devoted friend.
