ABOUT US
It all started with the H & S Pogues department store in Cincinnati in
1848, which catered to the affluent. Having a sophisticated eye for
fashion, color and quality, Pogues flourished.
Two additional stores were added and in 1961 all three were sold to
Associated Dry Goods. Christina Pogue is the great granddaughter of
Henry Pogue, one of the founders of H & S Pogues.
Christina, an avid tennis and golf player was disappointed with the active
sportswear in the local shops. She decided to use her inherited talents and
had her seamstress tailor some of her tennis and golf clothes creations for
her own use.
The clothes were a hit with her family and friends on the tennis courts
and golf course. Pogues of today was established.
