February 9, 2015
Meeting called to order by Vice
Pres. Sue Barker, at 7:00 p.m.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Kathi S.
presented past president Jody N.
with a scrapbook of pictures and
events taken during her 20132014 presidency. Julie T. bring a
bin of fabrics to sell at our March
meeting. Half of the proceeds
will go to the guild. Susan C. and
the Ministry are having "sew days"
at the church on the 2nd and 4th
Wed. of each month to make
clothing and blankets for the
children in Uganda and Peru.
HOSPITALITY: Dian/Luella - 3
guests this evening and 15 door
prizes given away.
BOM: Jill S. & Kathi S. showed
alternate ideas to put the blocks
together - not necessarily big
quilts -, i.e. 4-block quilts, 3
blocks vertical layout.
SEVEN SISTERS QUILT SHOW: Vicki B. - Each guild will submit a
quilt to be considered for the
show DVD cover. Bring a quilt to
the March meeting so our
members can vote on one to
represent SLO Quilters. We now
have flyers and rack cards, so
now we can put them up around
town. Remember there are
sponsored awards at this year’s
show. Also, it would be great to
have more judged quilts this year. Signe would like to have lots of
garments for the show. PLEASE read the “Guidelines For Entry”
flyer for valuable instructions.
COFFEE CAN RAFFLE: 13
numbers were drawn for items.
COMMUNITY QUILTS: Signe &
Gay - total of 30 quilts were
handed in this evening. They also
have around 75 pieced tops
waiting to be quilted.
TREASURER: no report this
evening - Susan K. absent.
SHOW AND TELL: Ten lovely
quilts were shared by members.
MEMBERSHIP: Ginnie M. greeted four new (and returning)
members. Welcome back!
THE EXPERIENCE: Jeannie C. - To
be held on Oct. 3. Penny
Principe will co-chair the silent
auction. A nice selection of
boutique items was displayed. Items are still needed for all areas
of the event - quilts/items for
boutique sales and auction, baskets for the silent auction, etc.
PROGRAMS: Val L. introduced
local talent, Amy Ray. She spoke
about selling quilts and fabrics on
Etsy, explained how Etsy works,
and some of her sewing history. She also shared many of her
beautiful quilts. Programs coming
up are Hawaiian applique
with Kathi Clarke in March, and
Sassy Circles with Christine
Barnes in May. The collaborative
quilt project got off to a good start
with several members
participating. Can't wait to see
the results in a few months.
OPPORTUNITY QUILT: Ginnie
M. will take it to Creative Station
in Buellton. A sign-up sheet is
available for members to take and
show around to work, groups, etc.
