Jai Jinendra,
We thank the volunteers and convey our accolades to the performers for helping JSMC
celebrate its first major event of 2012 – Mahavir Janma Kalyaanak, with a grand success. The
event was celebrated under the auspice of Shri Bhadrabahuvijayji. You can review Mahavir
Jayanti Photos on our website – click on Photo Gallery.
Having completed many on-going tasks over past 4-5 months, we have defined and organized
our 2012 priorities. We are focused on streamlining JSMC operations with the introductions of
new technologies, processes, and procedures. The BOT-EC team has stepped up in many
process improvements with a great enthusiasm, energy and with a common goal –
‘Betterment of JSMC’.
Here is a summary of our key initiatives:
 Online Pledge Application (OPA), a centralized portal collecting accurate donor’s
information.
 Efforts underway to launch a LIVE Darshan from our Derasar and Shrimad Mandir.
 Grading work on the back side of the center provides additional 100 parking spots.
 A formation of a Sub-Committee chartered with developing amended constitution and
bylaws.
Thanks to the reenergized team and member response, our financials for the first four months
are indicative of a healthy start. Compared to the prior year period (April ended), we are
ahead by $164K in net income. This would not have been possible without your generosity and
donation, thank you. Recently, we returned approximately $200K of member loan and
planning to return much more by end of this year. Furthermore, we are pleased to announce
the appointment of Cole, Martin & Co. as an independent CPA auditor for Fiscal Year 2011
financial audit.
19th Anniversary Celebration is around the corner. We are working towards putting together a
wonderful program that will be conducted with the help of Vidhikar - Shri Hiteshbhai Shah &
Sangeetkar - Shri Nayanbhai Sanghavi. On behalf of JSMC, we invite you to participate and
attend with your family and friends to celebrate our temple anniversary. During the
celebration, a Raffle Draw pertaining to "Gautam Labdhi Yojana" will be conducted. We
encourage you to participate and support us in this fund raising initiative that will benefit our
temple.
We leave you with this thought from Helen Keller (1880-1968) as you read on further…
“ALONE WE CAN DO SO LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH.”
On Behalf of Board of Trustees & Executive Committee,
Arvind Shah
Chairman, JSMC

Financial Update
The finance team this year is one of the focal points of the 2012 work-in-process. In addition, the Board members and our
Treasurer are diligently working to support the independent CPA audit of our 2011 financials.
We are grateful to our finance team members and volunteers for their 24/7 efforts. We have posted all of our transactions
(pledges, donations, and expenses) following the Mahavir Janma Kalyaanak celebration. We have received about $22K in
Pledges during Mahavir Janma Kalyaanak celebration. As of this writing, we have zero backlog.
It is our pleasure to share with you JSMC’s financial summary ended April 2012. Note that these unaudited numbers are
reported to demonstrate maximum transparency for the benefit of membership and with an eye toward planning the future.
This data is reported based on posted transactions and is subject to change pending ongoing reviews and reconciliations.

Help Make Our Temple “FULLY Debt-Free”…
JSMC is blessed with a membership that is caring, generous, and engaged. Following our magical journey of the last
Pratishtha and a successful completion of the construction expansion project, our donors, YOU, have helped make our
temple “practically debt-free”. However while continuing to navigate our current operation and secure our future promise,
we still have a responsibility to ensure that first and foremost we return our member loans in a timely and proactive
manner.
We have a healthy cash flow position with cash on hand ($1,151,706) and an outstanding A/R ($1,230,756). Yet in order to
make our temple “FULLY debt-free” (member loans of $2,087,633), we could use the monies (pending A/R of 1,230,756)
you so generously pledged over the past 2-4 years. As a matter of fact, if you are one of those top donors, today you would
make even a significant impact by giving us the access to your pledged fund sooner than later. We therefore respectfully
request your consideration towards the earliest possible payment of your outstanding A/R balance. Your prompt action
will be very much appreciated if you are on the following list.

JSMC Constitution Amendment Initiative
Over the years JSMC has grown to new heights in many facets of its operation, including our membership size, expanded
facilities and assets, new programs and events, etc. For example, today we have 1,600+ life member families. As a result,
our scope of operation and magnitude of services have dramatically increased. It is time therefore to reinforce our
platform for a sustainable JSMC operation and to prepare for a generation ahead. The JSMC board has identified specific
areas in which the JSMC constitution and bylaws need to be updated. Board of Trustees has therefore launched a new
initiative to update our constitution. We are in process of formalizing a group of people from the interested membership
(life members only) and subject matter experts (Attorneys or Para-Legal) for preparing the inputs for the amendment of the
constitution. If you can help, please contact Hemant Shah (630-933-8311) or Dipak Doshi (847-420-9025).
Thanks to JSMC Extended Teams and Volunteers.

Mahavir Jayanti
During Mahavir Jayanti almost 40 Tapasvis observed Aymbil Oli. Congratulations to all the Tapsavis. On Saturday April
7th, Shri Siddhachakra Maha Poojan was organized in the main Prayer Hall. Almost 50 devotee families participated in
this spectacular Poojan. JSMC is thankful to all the sponsors of this Poojan.
Cultural program has always been one of the biggest highlights. There were over 200 children and adults that
performed while nearly 1,200 audience members cheered them on. Besides the audience, there were many paparazzi
parents capturing their children's performance on digital devices. This is the very first time some children ever went
on stage as our youngest participants are just 2 1/2 years old. For the first time ever, there were performances by the
Mahavir Band and Chorus group. Also, this Mahavir Jayanti featured performances by many Moms and even Dads. It
was truly a family affair. Hats off to the very hardworking choreographers, teachers, and parents for being so flexible
with many practice schedules.
About 70 contestants (majority of them were kids under age of 18) participated in 14th Annual Declamation contest.
This was the highest participation so far. The following are the winners of the 14th Annual Declamation contest:

Day Camp
The Day Camp was a 12 hour day filled with learning, playing, creating and making friends and memories for
Pathshala students ages 4 and up.
There were 110 participants that engaged in over 15 different workshops. They performed impromptu skits on Jain
stories, debated on topics such as war & animal testing, had a fun visit from the dentist, learned Jain history, played
the classic games of Kho and Dodgeball, made healthy snacks, learned about "non-violent" communications, were
entertained by a Wacky Juggler and so much more. This was definitely a memorable event for all.
A very big thank you to the many volunteers who helped out in a small or big way – these type of events are not
possible without your help!
Winter Fun Events
For the first time ever, JSMC organized Bowling and Fitness5. Both events were very well received with over
expected participation from JSMC Membership.
JSMC Annual Karaoke and Annual Family Ski Trip were also overwhelmingly participated by our members.
Other Religious Events
Shri Simandhar Swami Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav was celebrated with great deal of enthusiasm. Varsitap/Aymbil Oli
Tapsvi Bahuman ceremony was conducted with lot of joy and spirit. Thanks to all the sponsors of these events for
their generous donations to JSMC.
A huge Thanks to you, our ever active and always supportive Membership for your participation, contribution, and
volunteerism! Because of you, JSMC is considered one of the most advanced, active, and famous Jain Centers in
entire world!

JSMC Office Technological Updates -- Going Green!
JSMC has made significant improvements in its day-to-day Office operations by deploying advanced technologies and
adopting paperless processes. Our cloud-based integration has provided us capabilities of customizing various portals using
Microsoft SharePoint platform.
One of the key enhancements that benefit our membership the most is Online Registration for all the JSMC Events.
Recently we implemented the Online Pledge Application (OPA). With OPA, now we are capable of recording accurate
donor’s information using membership database and send prompt email confirmation. The accurate pledge information
helps finance team with precise and timely invoice processing.
With the help from A/V & IT team, we are working on upgrading infrastructure on many fronts that would allow us to serve
our membership efficiently.
We still need help with Web site development and SharePoint based site management. If you have expertise in these
areas, please contact Vipul Shah at [email protected] or call – (847) 809-8756.
