has been creating highly stylized and
color infused interiors and gardens
for over 3 decades. His work has
graced 29 national and international
magazine covers and for the past 4
years Architectural Digest France has
named him one of the 80 most influential
designers in the world. A master colorist,
Doug also is the creative spirit behind
an array of home furnishings. He and his
brother, fashion designer Gene Meyer,
both alumni of the Parsons School of Design, run a design laboratory
in New York – concocting furniture, fabric, wallpaper, rug and
lighting that they license to leading design firms in the country such
as Link Outdoor, represented at Thomas Lavin at Blake House
Join us at Fall Market as Doug presents an animated and irreverent
discussion on the Appropriateness of Design. Dissecting key pieces
of the puzzle – color, lifestyle, scale, history, mood, quality and taste
– Doug will provide the holy grail to the appropriate elements that
create a great room, and how to avoid the perils of period design
and over mixing different styles.
