Reminder!
Hello Langhamites!
I hope everyone had a relaxing, enjoyable summer! To all of
our school age children, youth and teens...Welcome Back! I
hope you are all ready for a fantastic school year.
Now that another successful summer packed full of exciting
events has almost come and gone, the Langham Recreation
Department has a few parties to thank: all residents who participated in the events, all volunteers who helped run the
events, and the Community Initiatives Fund! All of the money
we raise from our admission and concessions will go toward
KidSport.
As our attentions move towards fall and winter activities, the
Recreation Department is scheduling its Langham in Motion
Programs: Dance, Karate, Kickboxing and Yoga. Please see
further on for a schedule. You can also check out our Events
Calendar on our website: www.langham.ca
The Langham Recreation Department needs YOUR help to
make programs and events bigger and better! Please complete this short eight question online survey to help us serve
you better! Last Day to complete the Langham Recreation
Survey is September 15th.

Come to the Affinity Community Hall on September 10th
starting at 5:30 p.m. for Passport to Langham. This is a show
case as to what programs the user groups, clubs, churches etc
have to offer. The Affinity Credit Union will be holding their
Member Appreciation Barbecue on the front lawn of the Hall
and all are welcome to a free hotdog!
Hope to see everyone there!

Langham has Traffic Signs
Ask yourself how many traffic signs in our community have you ignored or didn't make a proper Stop, or even fail to
obey a YIELD sign, Speed Limit sign, no Right or Left Turn signs, and yes even School Zone and School Bus
signs.
As a resident of our community I am amazed at how many people ignore the speed limits set in various zones, the
general speed limit in town is 40 KPH in School Zones a n d P a r k A v e N o r t h 30 KPH, and on the Service Road
West it is 50 KPH.
A lot of traffic does not slow down properly coming into town with the worst areas being Park Avenue, Railway Ave and
Baxter Street and Fifth Avenue .
I would be surprised if you haven't seen children walking and biking, adults walking and biking, and many
families out enjoying a stroll, it doesn't take much for anyone walking or biking to waver from the path they are following and you as a driver failing to obey speed limits to become part of an accident seriously injuring a person or
worse.something you don't want to have on your conscience for the rest of your life.

Retirement Announcement
After 19 years of outstanding service with the Town of Langham Mr. Neal Waldner has retired. The Town of Langham
would like to thank Neal for his many years of dedicated service to the Town. The Town staff presented Neal with his
“Gold Watch” in June 2015. On June 30 2015, after 19 years with the Town looking after the transfer station, taking
care of community green space and keeping Langham a neat and safe place to live in, he has retired at age 65.
We hope Neal has more time to enjoy his beloved hockey games and wish him well in his retirement.
