Want more business out of Bruin Professionals, more than you’re getting
from going to monthly chapter meetings and networking in the BP “mini”
get-togethers? Take advantage of the special corporate sponsor
opportunities to be officially rolled out June 2015. What are they? BP is
offering a limited number of opportunities to firms who want to sponsor any
of our big signature events later in the year.
First up is a football TV watch party unlike any other. Over
400 alumni, family and friends will gather at the stunning
Rose Bowl Pavilion on October 15th to watch UCLA in a
grudge match against Stanford. The lucky corporate
sponsors will get unmatched brand exposure on all event
promotion, prominent website and event visibility, countless
other benefits, and they’ll have a lot of fun!
Another opportunity is one of the most popular and exciting UCLA holiday
events, BP’s annual Capital Grille Holiday Party. It’s a dazzling celebration
with over 200 alumni, family and friends plus Santa Clause. All sponsor
opportunities are first-come, first-serve and preference is given to

UCLA Alumni Association Spotlight
Nick Theodorou
Senior Director, UCLA Alumni Career Programs
Nick Theodorou (UCLA ’98) is the Senior Director of Alumni Career Programs at the UCLA Alumni
Association. A veteran to alumni outreach, Theodorou served as Associate Director of Major Gifts for the
UCLA Athletic Department, is a life member of the UCLA Alumni Association, member of the Bruin Varsity
Club and a voting member of the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
Theodorou is focusing on bringing the vast pool of UCLA alumni talent and experience to enhance the
career paths of current UCLA students, as well as recent graduates . Three specific programs have been at
the forefront of this initiative: Interview with a Bruin, Entertainment Network Night and the Alumni Mentoring
Program. The Alumni Association sponsors the ‘Interview with a Bruin’ twice a year on campus; one of it’s
most popular undergraduate outreach initiatives, having drawn thousands of students to participate mock
interviews led by alumi, with the goal of improving interview skills and and mentoring guidance.
‘The Entertainment Networking Night’ brings entertainment industry alumni back to campus to mentor students and new graduates in
building industry contacts. Always a safe and welcome place to ask questions, students learn about how the various segments of
entertainment actually work and how individuals progress in the industry.
Last, ‘The Alumni Mentoring Program’, is designed to pair alumni with students and recent graduates for academic guidance, career
advice and personal development. UCLA Alumni Career Programs also produces content on career enhancement topics, with an
extensive webinar series in its future. Alumni Affairs is working to build on the momentum Bruin Professionals has created in generating
one on one, alumni to alumni, contact and providing tools for professional alumni to build commerce and to enhance their practices.
It’s all about relationships, and giving people the opportunity to succeed, and Theodorou and his staff are hard at work to assist alumni
with these career programs and others, creating consistent and sustainable relationships and networks.

On April 24, 2015, Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa signed into law an act originally authored by
Troy L. Martin that allows adult children of persons subjected to legal guardianships the right to
petition the court to obtain visitation rights.
The bipartisan bill was passed unanimously by the Iowa state legislature. Iowa was the first state in
the nation to pass such a law. Through the activism of Kerri Kasem and the Kasem Cares
Foundation, the proposed legislation is currently being considered by the Legislatures in California, Nevada, Texas, Illinois, and
Pennsylvania.

BP Mini's are about getting to know your fellow Bruin colleagues in a relaxed environment that enables Bruin commerce to happen
through camaraderie and community. In layman's terms, Mini's are supposed to be fun! Bruin Professionals is officially launching a
Chapter-wide Mini Photo Contest. Submit your best group "selfies" to [email protected]. If you win, you and your Mini
group will be featured on the BP Facebook and Twitter page, with links to your professional bios and company websites! Great
opportunity to get more exposure to build more business!

Bruin Professionals launched it's 15th chapter in Pasadena in March, with a 100+ attendee launch party at AKA Bistro. Pasadena is the
