e warmly invite you to a weekend dedicated to discovering the enchanting
world of Romanian wines!
Amidst the rolling hills of Transylvania in the tiny village of Cund, the Valea Verde
welcomes you with its unique rustic but refined charm in restored old farmhouses
providing you with comfortably cosy and characterful accommodation.
In this secluded country-side setting, internationally renown wine expert Marinela
Ardelean will host a special weekend introducing guests to the amazing diversity
and beauty of Romanian wines.
Marinela Ardelean will carefully pair delectably delicious menus of local produce
with all Romanian wine flights, host enlightening tasting sessions & workshops and
take you on an unforgettable journey through the inspiring world of Romanian
wines!
The acclaimed Valea Verde Restaurant will be the venue for most of the weekend.
Together with his experienced team, Chef Jonas Schäfer will be preparing a
wide variety of different exciting and inspiring dishes during the course of two
unforgettable days and nights!
The tastings, seminars and meals will take place in the Valea Verde as well as in
some special locations in the Transylvanian Wilderness: on a wonderfully secluding
clearing in the forrest, a ridge line with prominent views of the village embedded in
the rolling hills and under the leaves of the old willow tree near our lake.
O
ver the weekend Marinela will introduce all guest to
original Romanian grapes like Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală,
Tămâioasă Românească, Crâmpoșie, Băbească Neagră,
Fetească Neagră, and Busuioacă de Bohotin.
A special focus will be placed on Fetească Neagră, as
Marinela will follow the development of these delicious
variety in several wine making regions develops and explore
how different producers, terroirs and different wine making
processes make for unique interpretations of this grape.
The Romanian wine world will be sampled by regions,
growers and producers - and rest assured, even the most
seasoned wine - lovers will discover and love previously
unfamiliar wines found apart from the well known wine
regions and well know producers!
Furthermore, the art of pairing the right wine with food will
be the topic of a dedicated seminar as well as a session on
how to identify principal grape varieties like Chardonnay,
Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir,
Merlot, and Syrah.

The weekend is hosted by Marinela Ardelean,
Romania´s cosmopolitan wine-ambassador
who chose to dedicate herself to changing the
international image of Romanian wines after
an award winning career in the “old world” of
wines in Italy, Champagne and Bordeaux.
I
n her first book “50 de vinuri românești
întâlnesc 50 de preparate culinare italiene”,
which was awarded by OIV and Gourmand
International, Marinela paired Romanian
wines with recipes from Italian Michelin Star
restaurants. Her next book “The Wine Book of
Romania” is the first guide to classify (with the
help of an independent and highly qualified
international jury) and introduce the best wines
from Romania and the Moldavian Republic to a
national and international audience!
Undoubtedly Marinela is now one of the
most knowledgable persons when it comes to
Romanian wines, and her passion, dedication
and appreciation for this emerging wine making
country will surely inspire all guests who have
not yet had the pleasure of meeting her!

W
e are looking forward to welcoming you at the Valea Verde with some
beautiful Romanian Sparkling Wines during a small reception in the yard of
the Valea Verde to meet your fellow travellers. With sparking wines being a
speciality of Marinela, who was trained in Champagne and was nominated
in Reims as “Dame Chevalier de L’Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne”, we
believe this to be the perfect start to an inspiring evening!

Friday Night´s Dinner
D
uring this special dinner we will sample six delicious courses prepared
using the best local produce. All dishes will be paired with some of the best
Romanian wines available! Marinela will explain the geographical and historical
origins and characteristics of the wines paired with the individual courses.

Workshop “How to recognise the principal grape varieties”
On Saturday morning we will start the day with a workshop on the profund
basics of tasting wine. Marinela will introduce the international principal
grape varieties and give some practical guidance on how to identify and
distinguish the “cépage noble”- Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah.

The formal dinner on Saturday evening will be embracing the theme of the
Wilderness Lunch with a tasting session of Romanian White Wines

n the ridge of a really beautiful hill we will prepare a decadent lunch buffet
in a spectacular setting. In this unique location Marinela will host a special
tasting of Romanian white wines. An award winning wine maker will also
explain some details on the historic wine making region of the Tarnave
Tarnaveni DOC.

Workshop “A tasting of special Feteasca Neagra´s from diverse terroirs”
After a hopefully relaxing siesta, Marinela Ardelean will use some
very different wines made of the same grape variety to take you on an
impressive journey through the different wine making regions. The different
interpretations of Feteasca Neagra will illustrate beautifully the differences in
terroir and show how different the same grape variety can taste.
