ASHP Midyear Las Vegas December 4 - 8, 2016 Highlights ● ● Largest residency showcase PPS Interviews ○ ○ ● ● ● Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships Other employment opportunities Student poster presentations Professional development and networking Clinical Skills Competition* *winning team from Pitt will receive full reimbursement for registration, travel, hotel Registration ● Must be a student member of national ASHP organization ○ ○ ● ● Student rate should be about $300 for entire conference There is NO early-bird rate ○ ● Register online at ASHP website to become a national member at any time Log-in to your ASHP account to verify your membership status/renew membership Same rate no matter when you register, up until the conference starts Registration includes admission to receptions and Students Night Out Travel ● ● Book early: be prepared to book your flight well in advance to avoid paying higher prices for last-minute flights Consider low-cost airlines such as Southwest, Frontier, and Spirit ○ ● *do not generally show up on search engines such as Orbitz - go directly to their websites to search for fares If you have the time, driving is also an option! ○ Reimbursement for gas Lodging ● ● ASHP Website will release a list of participating hotels that offer discounted rates for conference attendees ○ RELEASED IN JULY - BOOKS UP FAST! ○ Some hotels offer shuttles to the convention center, breakfast, wifi, etc. so plan accordingly Maximize # of people per room ○ ● Find roommates in advance so you are ready to book when the time comes SSHP does not book rooms, this is done by groups of students on their own! Student Poster Submission Online abstract submission: Site will be open August 15, 2016 to October 1, 2016 at 11:59pm PT List of accepted student posters will be posted to ASHP website by October 15, 2016* Reimbursement Process ● If eligible, you must apply for GPSG Travel Award (see GPSG website) ● Reimbursement through SSHP based on: ○ ○ ○ Academic year (P4s going to the residency showcase rank higher) Poster presentation Involvement in SSHP: fill out the survey about membership, meeting attendance, project involvement, and leadership positions ● If you are concerned about cost and choose not to go, please indicate the following year that you waited to attend Midyear in order to receive additional funding ● Please keep all your receipts for the flight, hotel, registration, and travel from the airport to the hotel (and hotel to airport) Timeline ● Midyear 2016 Interest Survey will be emailed today ○ ○ Responses due by Saturday, 4/23 Respond if you are interested in attending Midyear and would like to remain on our Midyear 2016 Email List July - hotel rooms become available (book early!) August-September - book flight August-October - submit poster abstracts August-November - register for conference/PPS October-November - SSHP surveys for reimbursement Make sure to attend our events if you are interested December (1st week) - GPSG application for travel reimbursement See GPSG website or give them a call with questions Events: Student Programming ● ● ● ● ● ● Keynote Speaker Clinical skills competitionsupport our winning team!
