Enjoy your visit to Plymouth County where history is just the beginning! Visitor Info Plymouth visitor information is located at the Waterfront Visitor Information Center, the official visitor information center for the Town of Plymouth. Here you can make room reservations, obtain brochures, check out restaurant menus, acquire maps and find the latest on special events in and around Plymouth during your stay. Open April through November. 1 l Vacation PLANNER The Massachusetts Tourist Information Center is located on Route 3, Exit 5 in Plymouth where you can pick up Plymouth and State-wide information including maps and brochures on attractions, lodging, shopping and dining. Open year-round 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 800.231.1620 or visit www.SeePlymouth.com. Welcome Visit art museums in Brockton, Cohasset, Marshfield, Norwell, Duxbury and Plymouth, and explore the historic coastline and proud maritime heritage in our ten coastal towns. Daytrip excursions can include Boston and Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Enjoy daily seasonal whale watch cruises and narrated harbor and Cape Cod Canal tours. Try Sandwich’s Heritage Museums & Gardens, the City of New Bedford known for its whaling industry history, Fall River’s Battleship Cove and Newport Rhode Island’s Mansions. In Plymouth County you’ll discover a blend of art and history, adventure and recreation, breathtaking natural beauty and more to do than can be done in one day. Plymouth – America’s Hometown, is the heart of Plymouth County and the site of the first permanent settlement of English Colonists in New England. Visit a re-creation of this settlement at the English Village at Plimoth Plantation. Board Mayflower II, a reproduction of the ship that carried the Pilgrims to the New World. Take in the sights and sounds of a lively, working Plimoth Plantation, Plymouth waterfront. Boats cruise through Cape Cod Bay for whale watching and deep-sea fishing. Lobstering and even “pirate hunting” are available in Plymouth Harbor. The streets of Plymouth continue to welcome newcomers as they did four centuries ago. Experience the stories of “America’s Hometown” by foot or trolley. Visit www.SeePlymouth.com for up-to-date Plymouth information. The South Shore is known for its scenic coastline, quaint villages, comfy B&Bs and impressive lighthouses. Traveling along Route 3A is the best way to visit unique museums sharing the various histories of such businesses as farming, lifesaving or Irish mossing, not to mention centuries-old “homes turned restaurants” offering seaside dining. Cranberry Country winds through the back roads of southeast Plymouth County where the importance of the cranberry industry and its continued influence is more than evident. Look for colorful wet harvests in late September and October, so well known from Ocean Spray™ commercials. Visit a farm that uses the dry harvest process that gives us fresh cranberries for our Thanksgiving dinners. Metro South, with its proximity to Boston, is the perfect hub for exploring the County and a true destination in its own right. Known as the City of Champions due to its prize-fighting heroes Rocky Marciano and Marvelous Marvin Hagler, it is also home to the only contemporary craft museum in New England as well as other cultural venues including a Black History Trail. Plymouth County’s doors are open for you to explore America’s historic past as well as its vibrant present. Scituate Lighthouse, South Shore A.D. Makepeace, Cranberry Country Vacation PLANNER l 2 WELCOME to the County Welcome to Plymouth County Massachusetts where America’s roots run deep. Plymouth County covers an area of 690 square miles.
