Thank you for being a member and have a wonderful fall season
Photos by: Pat Elsass
Hello. I know this is a busy season with everyone back to school and harvest on
the horizon, but we would appreciate you take the time to check out what Farm
Bureau has to offer. This fall we have many great events coming up and I hope
that you can take advantage of them!
Our most exciting venture is the Evening at the Movies with Farm Bureau:
Farmland. This great documentary filmed 6 young farmers as they learn, expand
and go through a year making their farms successful. The counties are fortunate
to be able to hold a screening of this movie and hope that everyone can join us.
Also, don't forget about the new Polaris benefit and all the other great
opportunities to save by just being a Farm Bureau member. And if you have
things you would like to see the county do or if you would like to get more
involved, drop us a line at [email protected] or 877-775-7642!
Thank you for being a member and have a wonderful fall season! Until
next time just know Farm Bureau is working for you!

On Sunday, August 17, more than 140 Farm Bureau members and their families took part in a day of Fun on
the Farm at the VanDemark Farm in Sidney for our Annual Meeting! After a wonderful meal and meeting,
those in attendance played mini-golf, fished, explored the corn maze, and met the animals in the petting zoo.
During the meeting were elections of board members, delegates for the 2015 OFBF Annual Meeting and
proposed 2014-15 Policies. Elected onto the 2014-15 Board are Matt Bensman, District #2; Steve Berning,
District #3; and Raci Zimpfer, District #4. Jason Fogt, Jason Gibbs, and Bobby Bender were elected to
attend the 2015 OFBF Annual Meeting along with Aaron Heilers (automatic attendee as the county
president). All of the proposed 2014-15 Policies passed.
Special thanks to Board members for preparing the meal and the P & E Committee for the
cookies and serving the meal. Thanks to all who came and enjoyed the day with us!

P & E Committee helped with several projects
over the summer. Third graders from Anna,
Botkins, and Jackson Center participated in
the Poster and Essay Contest and explained
“How their food gets to their plate.” All
entries were judged by the committee and the
winners were announced during National Ag.
Week March 24-28. The winning entries were
displayed at the Shelby Co. Fair where the P
& E Committee helped with the Farm Bureau
display and kids’ activities in the Natural
Resources display in the Grange Hall
throughout the week. They also served food
and made cookies for Conservation Day
Camp from June 24-26 and the Annual
Meeting held August 17.
The fall will be no different as the P & E
Committee gears up to help with the Drive-ItYourself Farm Tour on September 21,
Farmland Movie Night on September 28, and
Pioneer Day on October 1. More details on
these past and upcoming events are included
in this newsletter so just keep reading!
