July/August - City of Rochelle
Community Connections n summer 2016 Progress report To say things have been a whirlwind around City Hall these days might be an understatement! Have you heard that we’ve recently sold both the Hub Theater and the Golf Course restaurant to area developers with new projects underway? The Theater property has been purchased by the Kennay family of Ashton, Illinois to be used as a micro-distillery for whiskey and other brews. This will make a great anchor for all of the Downtown projects underway. The Kennays also purchased the former Lincoln School property to use as a storage facility. The Golf Course restaurant will soon be home to a new eatery! The restaurant was purchased by John Scanlan, owner of the New Milford Tap and restaurants in Rockford & Davis Junction. We’re excited to have the restaurant and banquet facility back in operation for both the golfers and our community! Several construction projects continue around town—including the reconstruction of 20th Street. While the road was briefly re-opened for the 4th of July weekend, it is now closed for the completion of the project. Summer events are in full swing. The program covers costs of repairing sewer lines on the homeowner’s property. While our community spends a significant amount of money each year to upgrade our water and sewer systems, these upgrades do not address the sewer line located on private property. Homeowners can be responsible for thousands of dollars in repair costs for a broken or leaking sewer line on their property. The insurance program, offered through Service Line Warranties of America provides repair coverage for your outside sewer line, up to $4,000 per incident with no deductibles. The cost to participate in the program is $7.75 per month or $88 per year with an annual payment. Beginning the week of May 23, RMU customers will receive a letter and registration form with details and instructions via mail. Customers may contact Service Line Warranties with questions at 1-855535-7141.
