We are grateful for the time, talents and effort you contribute, as well as the individual expertise and experience you bring with you. To join our team, read the information packet and then return the schedule request form. STEP ONE: Read the Positions and Rules thoroughly. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS July 2 STEP TWO: Fill out a schedule request form. STEP THREE: Await your approved schedule to be returned to you via email. Each volunteer will receive a water bottle. If you sign up for more than three concerts, you will receive a flashlight carabiner. Returning volunteers, please make sure you thoroughly read the 2016 changes are noted in red. The Music of John Williams Michael Feinstein with Utah Symphony **Vouchers received are not good for these concerts. You will still receive a guest ticket for that night if you are working it. VOLUNTEER POSITIONS All Positions must feel comfortable standing long hours, approaching and directing patrons as well as enforcing Deer Valley Resort and Utah Symphony policies. All Positions arrive by 4:30 PM. The 2016 changes are noted in red. ADA Ushers: Set up ADA chairs and direct ADA patrons to their seating area. You must be able to stand and walk on the steep grade of the hill for long periods of time. This is a physically demanding position. After the concert you will assist in taking down the ADA chairs and assisting patrons off the hill. You will receive TWO tickets or vouchers for this position and will be able to sit in the ADA section. Gate Assistants: Ticket Assistants are ‘Gate Ushers’ that will stay at the gate through the performance assisting the Front of House Head Usher. You must be able to stand for long periods of time. You will hear not see the performance. You will receive TWO tickets or vouchers for this position. Gate Usher: This includes PROGRAMS and TICKET TAKERS. There are a few positions within this job you may be asked to work. (1) Verify and take tickets. (2) Stamp patron’s hand for re-entry. (3) Maintain ticket lines. (4) Stock and distribute programs to patrons. You must be able to stand for long periods of time. There are no places to sit. You will miss the beginning of the performances. Lawn Usher: You must be able to stand and walk on the steep grade of the hill for long periods of time. You will be assigned to sit at a specific location on the perimeter of the hill during the concert. After the concert assist patrons leaving the hill, collecting signs and taking down development banners. Reserved Usher: You will be working with patrons sitting in the reserved section closest to the stage. You must be able to stand and walk on the steep grade of the hill for long periods of time. After the concert you will help collect VIP badges and un-tag reserved chairs. You will be assigned to sit at a specific location close to the stage during the concert. Security Team: This includes the INFO DESK, CHAIR MONITOR and VIP VALET positions. There are a few security positions including stage front, on the hill, and backstage. You must feel comfortable stopping patrons from entering unauthorized areas and enforcing photography and chair height rules. You may or may not directly see the entire performance depending on your location. You must be able to be on your feet and climb the hill and must be able to lift 40 lbs. You will receive TWO tickets or vouchers for this position. FOR SALE AT VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN: Don’t want to wear a t-shirt? There are a LIMITED number of Volunteer polos you can purchase at check-in for $25. Stadium chairs are also for sale for $20 at check-in. FAQ, POLICIES &TICKETS The 2016 position changes are noted in red. What time do I need to be there? You must be checked in before orientation begins promptly at 4:30 PM. Be aware of traffic and make sure you are checked in, changed and your water bottle is filled before we begin orientation. Text or call 435-233-0685 if you are not able to attend or will be any amount of late as we start on time. How long do I work? You are expected to be “on duty” throughout the whole evening. Please return to your positions at intermission and after the concert. You are free to leave after checking out. Where can I park? Parking is available for Volunteers in Lots #2 through #5. Do NOT park in Lot #1. Is there a carpool option? If you are interested in carpooling, please check the box on your schedule request form. A contact list will be distributed to those interested in order to individually coordinate a carpool. May I sit in the ADA section? Unless you are working in the ADA section or you have a guest in the ADA section, you will not be allowed to sit here. If your guest needs an ADA ticket, make sure you ask for one when you receive your complimentary ticket at check-in. And if your position allows you to sit with your guest, make sure you request one for yourself as well. Seating is numbered in this section this year. You may not bring your own chairs into this section. What about food/drink? Eat before coming or bring food to eat there. Concession stands are also available onsite. The air is thin, so bring a water bottle and stay hydrated. You are not allowed to consume alcohol at all during your shift. Where is check-in? It is in the lower level of Snow Park Lodge, down the stairs across from the front gates. You will receive shirts, tickets and an orientation for the evening there. What do I wear? You will be given a Festival shirt, on the first day you volunteer. This is yours to keep. Please wear it each time with khaki (tan) bottoms (pants or long shorts), and sturdy and comfortable shoes— no jeans. You may wear a hat and sunglasses. It cools down at sunset, so bring a jacket no matter how warm it seems. Please keep your uniforms clean and neatly put together as well as take a shower and wear deodorant. Do I get Tickets/Vouchers? TICKET: used that evening. VOUCHER: used for a future concert. At Deer Valley®, you will receive 1 Ticket for a guest that evening OR a Voucher to be redeemed for a future concert. Various positions receive 2. All Volunteers are also able to purchase up to 4 additional tickets for 20% off to any DVMF concert. You may not pick up or resell other volunteer’s Vouchers. Tickets will be placed under your guests name at will call and they will need identification to pick them up. Deer Valley Vouchers are not good at Abravanel Hall or Capitol Theatre. You may exchange them for regular season vouchers at the end of the season. Volunteers who do not adhere to the above policies or do not show up will not be scheduled for future events.
