GRANLIBAKKEN GAZETTE VOLUME V 2007-2008 Celebrate the newly expanded Executive Lodge Surround your group with a pine forest in a retreat-like setting… Set apart from the rest of the resort (still just steps from the pool, hot tub, sauna and trails), the recently expanded Executive Lodge Complex welcomes groups of up to 90. The state-of-the-art complex features the new Forest Lodge (June 2007) and offers 3,160 square feet of flexible space, 45 lodging rooms and a gourmet kitchen. The expansion was designed with a variety of uses in mind: executive work sessions, seminars, board retreats and more. The New Forest Lodge is a great option for family reunions, ski clubs and friends who wish to have a private place to gather. The eight bedroom/eight bath lodge has a large living room, deck, kitchen and recreation area. Also located in the Executive Lodge Complex is the seven bedroom/seven bath Big Pine Lodge. For information about booking either building, contact our sales department at 877-552-6298. Among the groups gathering here were the UCSF Tetrad Meeting, American Accounting, American Heart Association, Charter Schools, Susan Kovalik & Associates, Adaptive Schools and the UC Davis Transgenic Animal Conference. Participants at the three conferences below took advantage of the peaceful surroundings to concentrate on learning to think differently about themselves and the world/universe we live in. Quantum-Touch. In this seminar, both practitioners and new students focused on amplifying life-force energy (known as “chi” in Chinese and “prana” in Sanskrit) to accelerate healing. By combining various breathing and body awareness techniques and exercises, participants learned to “resonate” at a higher frequency which a client will often entrain to or match, facilitating healing by using the body’s own biological intelligence. Practical Mysticism, James Arthur Ray. An annual event at Granlibakken, this weeklong immersion teaches participants to change the results in their lives by changing their mindsets and to lead their lives with complete abundance and joy. An outstanding communicator, James Ray integrates the mystical and the practical from over two decades of business experience and entrepreneurial success, as well as worldwide travel and study. Concept: Synergy. A Lazaris seminar, this program combined discussions, explorations and innovative meditations to teach concepts that are difficult to explain and practice. Participants from around the globe learned how to see and be part of the universe at a different level, achieving greater personal freedom and deeper personal spirituality. 877-552-6298 The Cedar House Pub In winter the “Pub” is open on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays for dinner. As a designated Fire Safe Community, the resort has created a firebreak between our buildings and the surrounding forest to reduce fuel loads and force a potential fire to drop to the ground. This defensible space, along with the much-appreciated efforts of firefighters, helped protect Granlibakken and neighbors from the recent Washoe Fire. The new forest practices have also created better habitat for many species of animals. Deer, black bear, pine martens, squirrels, chipmunks, coyotes, beaver, hawks, ravens and raccoons have all been sighted here recently. A shuttle service allowed guests to “carpool” to Tahoe City and Emerald Bay this summer and enjoy the scenery without worrying about the traffic. Free nighttime shuttle service will be available to/from Granlibakken and local restaurants and casinos this winter, from 6:30pm to 11:30pm December 13, 2007 to April 8, 2008. Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Homewood buses will operate for the ski season. Other Granlibakken efforts toward energy conservation and environmental protection include managing roadway runoff and recycling cardboard, batteries, ink cartridges and light bulbs. The resort also participates in the recycling program initiated by Tahoe/Truckee Sanitation District.
