WELCOME TO
BOPLATS SYD
the municipal housing agency
Boplats Syd
HOW IT WORKS
HOW DO I APPLY?
You add your name to the waiting list by filling out an
application on our website - www.boplatssyd.se
Your application will be effective immediately as soon
as you have paid the fee to be on the waiting; you can
then use the service in “My page” to search for and
register an interest in apartments.
You can also contact Boplats Syd (Lejonetpassagen)
or the ten civic offices (medborgarkontor) if you
need help in filling in your application to be on the
waiting list or to search for and register your interest
in an apartment.
WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU?
A property owner’s requirements may relate to how
you receive income and how much you earn, whether
the applicant is a student, the number of people in
the household, how old they are, etc. These requirements may mean that an applicant may be overlooked
when an apartment is available for viewing. The
requirements must however comply with discrimination law.
PERSONAL DATA
If you have a Swedish civic registration number, or a
so-called co-ordination number, you can apply for a
place on the waiting list. If you do not have a civic
registration number or a co-ordination number, you
must state your date of birth.
Please note that you cannot apply for a place on the
waiting list earlier than the month you turn 17 years.
It is your responsibility to provide truthful information when you apply and when updating your personal details. If you do not, it may affect your ability to
obtain an apartment.

WAITING LIST FEE
Being on the waiting list costs 300 SEK/year, this
price includes VAT. Via e-mail, you will be requested
to pay this amount in order to renew your place on
the waiting list. If you change your e-mail address, it
is important that you update this information on “My
page” on the website
www.boplatssyd.se. If you do not have an e-mail address,
it is important that you monitor the renewal of the fee and
ensure it is paid before the beginning of a new payment period.
Your place on the waiting list becomes dormant if
the fee remains unpaid. Your place on the waiting list
will be re-activated and you will still have the same
position on the list if the fee is paid within the first
two months after the beginning of the new payment
period.
APPLYING TOGETHER
The time spent on the waiting list is personal, it
belongs to the applicant. Information regarding a
co-applicant on your application, for example, to
demonstrate sufficient income, is only regarded as
information to the property owner.
If two people in a household want to retain their
position on the waiting list, a separate application
is always required for each applicant. It is therefore
possible to have your own place on the waiting list,
and still be a co-applicant on someone else’s application. Your position on the waiting list is unique and
can only be transferred to someone else in the event
of death, provided that the co-applicant has been
married or proven as a partner to the deceased. The
amount of time you have been on the waiting list
starts from the date you were accepted on the list.

APPLYING FOR APARTMENTS
RULES
The basic rules for applying for a place on the waiting
list at Boplats Syd can be found on
www.boplatssyd.se
USE “MY PAGE”
The primary tool for searching and reporting your
interest in any particular apartment is via “My Page”
on the website
www.boplatssyd.se
It provides you with a good overview of all available
apartments as well as the apartments you have expressed an interest in. There are also map links, pictures of the apartments and in some cases, a floor plan.
You are also able to update your address and income
information on “My Page”.
REGISTER YOUR INTEREST
An expression of interest is sorted based on the
amount of time you have been on the waiting list
and indicates that you are interested in being invited
to view an apartment. You cannot make new expressions of interest if:
• you already have five (5) view notices
• you are first on the list and have accepted the apartment after the viewing
• something is wrong with your application or if
information is incomplete
• you have five current applications of interest at the
same time
• you have not been approved by a property owner
due to non-regulated rent arrears
• the profile you entered is not consistent with the
property owner’s requirements in terms of income,
the number of people in the household, and age.
SENIOR HOUSING
There is no separate waiting list for senior housing.
Apartments become available to applicants based on
the amount of time you have been on the waiting list
provided you have reached the pre-determined age as
specified by the property owner.
Applicants who have not reached the age limit will
not be proposed to the property owner. Senior housing is considered particularly suitable for the elderly
because of the age distribution in the property, the
apartment’s construction, etc.
Clarification of the concept - senior housing:
“A collective term for all homes that are not covered by separate legislation and that are intended for
people over a certain age”.

VIEWING AN APARTMENT
YES OR NO?
It is important that you view the apartment you have
been called to before you answer yes to indicate your
continued interest, otherwise there is a risk that you
do not receive approval from the property owner. A
yes is always a serious and committed desire to move
into an apartment.
AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED
When you get an apartment, it is time to sign a contract with the property owner. With the signing of the
contract, you lose your current place on the waiting
list, but you will automatically acquire a new position
on the waiting list with a new time from the date
you received your apartment. If you do not wish to
remain on the waiting list you should not pay the new
charge.

THE PROCESS
An apartment is notified to Boplats Syd via Fastighetsägarportalen (the Property Owners Portal). Boplats Syd
goes through the property owner’s requirements and
makes sure the apartment’s details are correct. After
that, when the property can be viewed and by whom, is
determined.
The apartment is normally advertised on the website for
a period of seven days, or for at least three days. It is
possible to subscribe to newly available apartments via
e-mail.
A number of people are invited to view of an apartment. The exact number of people called will vary
depending on the apartment. To be called, the applicant
must meet the requirements as specified by the property
owner. There is usually only one chance to view an
apartment and it is arranged by the property owner.
After viewing, those invited state whether they are still
interested in the apartment. The candidate who has
been on the waiting list the longest is contacted. The
information provided on “My Page” is checked. After
that, the contract is signed in the presence of the property owner.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WILL I GET MY MONEY BACK IF I DO NOT
GET AN APARTMENT?
You register on Boplats Syd to gain access to a marketplace where there are a large number of vacant
dwellings from local authority housing companies
and private property owners and you are given the
opportunity to apply for these apartments. Boplats
Syd charges a fee to provide this service. You will not
receive any money back if you do not find an apartment.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE I GET
AN OFFER OF AN APARTMENT?
The housing agency allocates apartments based on
the amount of time you have been on the waiting
list. The longer you have been on the waiting list,
the greater the chance you have of being offered an
apartment. How quickly you as an applicant can get
an apartment is determined by various factors: your
waiting time, choice of area, the property owner’s
requirements and how many apartments have been
submitted.
