We believe in care and originality in all we do. A passion for quality
materials and considered design, coupled with our craftsmanship and
investment in cutting edge manufacturing technologies, create our
Inspired Furniture Collections.

This book attempts to be a quiet celebration of the achievements of
the Morgan Team to date. As our team has grown and strengthened
in recent years, this too will be a milestone against which we measure
the future and our plans to do more, better. Thank you for taking the
time to read this.

We Design Original Collections
Morgan Furniture was established more
than 70 years ago, we bought it nearly
21 years ago and have fully transformed
the business to match our own and our
clients’ expectations.
Our original objective remains; to be
a design led and customer focused
designer and manufacturer able to
provide outstanding quality of product
combined with exceptional value.
We achieve this by attention to detail
and complete control of the conceptual
design, the engineering for manufacture
and by making everything in our own
factory in Hampshire.
We look to integrity rather than fashion
for contemporary, balanced and original
expressions of form and function
and this honesty takes shape through
manufacturing processes that are

uncompromisingly focused on quality,
investing our products with an enduring
sense of the passion and care that is the
Morgan signature.
Over the last years, Morgan has received
the Design Guild Mark award for
six collections: Miami, City, Lima,
Manhattan, Pimlico and Brompton.
Morgan is committed to designing
and creating furniture collections with
a distinctive harmony of form and
function, unequaled for originality,
quality and value. Our standard
collections provide a broad palette
of original options to designers, which
because they are designed and developed
as coordinated collections, simplify the
cohesiveness of an interior design. We have a highly experienced team
of six designers, led by Katerina
Zachariades, who design our collections
and who can advise on the practicality
and ergonomics of modified or bespoke
chair designs. The designers are supported
by two dedicated product development
craftsmen. Considerable care is taken
to ensure the ergonomics, comfort
and longevity of our designs and this is
reflected in the research and engineering
effort taken to ensure our objectives.
Our collections reflect contemporary styles and trends
but with the aspirations and expectations of tomorrow
always considered in the design.

We believe in manufacturing in the
UK using the best materials available.
Lean Manufacturing
Morgan Furniture is a wholly British,
design orientated, business making
seating and tables for the contract market
from its dedicated 4500m2 factory in
Hampshire. We design and produce our
furniture entirely in-house and deliver the
finished product to our customers using
our own fleet of vehicles.

Morgan is a passionate exponent of lean
manufacture and, through its actions,
clearly demonstrates how this approach
delivers mutual benefits for company
and customer. Significant reductions
in waste have produced corresponding
environmental gains and cost savings
for the customer, at the same time,
operational efficiency has been increased
resulting in improved lead times and even
higher quality of product and service to
the customer.
Apprenticeships
We have operated an apprenticeship
scheme since the establishment of the
business and the majority of our team,
many of whom have been with us in
excess of 20 years, were apprenticed
here. This provides great continuity and
consistency of skills and the basis for
supportive teamwork.
Original Design
We create and craft products that will
bring lasting originality and quality to
any environment for years to come and
Morgan’s design team brings a distinctive
perspective to each piece within every
collection.
With each of our Collections we
work hard to design a broad range of
corresponding products and it is the skill
with which these conflicting objectives
are resolved that ensures the harmony
and success of the products.
Those all important issues of ergonomics
and human factors are considered
throughout the design process and
our success is evident in the comfort
and enduring quality of our chairs.
Bespoke Product
Our customers often have design,
operational, space or budgetary
constraints that require a unique solution
and we have considerable experience in
reengineering our designs to meet these
requirements. Consequently, some 25%
of our production is bespoke.

We source much of our timber from
European and UK sustainable estates
that are controlled with felling licenses
and given PEFC/FSC certification. The
logs are air dried, kilned and conditioned
for between four months and two years
which produces high quality timber
suitable for furniture making.

company fully committed and assessed
to the environmental cause.
As a company we are involved with
local schools, colleges and universities
nationally and are dedicated to investing
in education.

The Team
Our achievements are due to the Morgan Team which now numbers some 80 people.
A number of our Inspired Collections
have been designed by the Morgan Studio
team of five young and creative furniture
designers. The design process is led by
Katerina Zachariades and the product
development achieved by a dedicated
prototyping team. The total portfolio now
represents one of the most popular choices
of contemporary seating in the UK for
interior designers and specifiers.
The creative vision and energy of
Katerina Zachariades-McMahon,
our Design Director, whose
original training as an architect was
complemented by furniture design at
the Royal College of Art has driven
the company with successful design
collections always reflecting the values
of purity and integrity. She has a passion
for design, especially using timber as the
primary material.
Rodney McMahon, our Managing
Director, is a Chartered Accountant,
with a passion for design, and has
brought processes and disciplines
to our production and administrative
procedures that underwrite our
commitment to our clients. He has
been active in promoting the broader
industry and developing young people
in the industry for many years and was
a Chairman of the British Contract
Furnishing Association. He is also
a Council Member of the Furniture
Industry Research Association.
The best design results arise when a good designer
works in a team in order to best explore the design
and manufacturing process to ensure products and
places deliver commercial success.
Rodney Fitch CBE has been a non
executive Director for several years
fulfilling the role of design advisor,
brand developer and mentor for the
business. He has enjoyed a successful
career in design, including President of
both the Chartered Society of Designers
and of the Designers and Art Directors
Assocation. He is Professor of Retail
Design at TU Delft University
in Holland.
Rodney is Chairman of the Trustees of
the Edward Barnsley Workshop Charity
whose objective is the development
of apprentices in very high quality
cabinet making.

Hospitality
The Corner Restaurant
Designed by Stiff + Trevillion and Republic of Living
The Corner Restaurant and Champagne Bar in
Selfridges opened its doors in March 2013 complete
with contemporary furniture from Morgan. Located in
the corner of the Womenswear Designer Galleries, the
restaurant is the first from joint winner of Masterchef
2012, Keri Moss. Bar furniture and chairs are from the
Pastille collection from Morgan. Featuring a distinctive
curved back and gently splayed legs, the dining chair

and matching bar stool ensure comfort and elegance
in equal measure, whether enjoying lunch or while
sipping a cocktail at the indulgent L-shaped marble
bar. Set within an art deco-inspired room with natural
light and views out across Oxford Street, the project
won a Restaurant & Bar Design Award in 2013 for the
category ‘Restaurant or Bar in a retail space’.

ROX
Designed by Graven
British luxury jewellery retailer, ROX, has used Morgan
to furnish their Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle and
Leeds stores using boutique hotel furniture designs to
create a sense of timeless luxury for their customers.
The Seville wing-backed lounge chair and contemporary
sofa designed by Katerina Zachariades make a grand and
comfortable statement in the Glasgow store.

Lounge chairs and two seater sofas from the Hampton
collection by Morgan are arranged in attractive groups
throughout Edinburgh, Newcastle and Leeds. Their
classic profiles with contemporary detailing set a mood
which is familiar and calming, but at the same time
extremely elegant.

The Clubhouse
Designed by SHH
Advertised as London’s premium business club, lounge
and meeting space, The Clubhouse is one of a new breed
of luxurious facilities designed to meet the flexible needs
of today’s business people. Perfect for anyone looking for
a sophisticated place to meet clients in central London,
The Clubhouse provides a professional environment at
a prestigious Mayfair address furnished with meeting
rooms, boardroom, presentation rooms, hot desks,
events space and a Club lounge. The Clubhouse features
contemporary furniture designs from Morgan including
lounge chairs and two seater sofas from the Hampton
collection, with distinctive button-back cushions and soft,
classic styling.

Global Management Consultants
Designed by Scott Brownrigg
This office refurbishment for a Global Management
Consultancy is located in one of the busiest areas
of London on the Strand, WC2 and features
contemporary furniture from Morgan in the glassfronted meeting rooms. Throughout the interior clean
lines and modern materials create a feeling of light
and space, while vibrant splashes of colour and quirky
design details like office doors resembling red London
telephone boxes inject energy and personality. The
Metro lounge chair provides stylish comfort, shown
here with buttoned back. Additions to the collection,
the lounge chairs are also available with a new quilted
seat, outside and back; and an optional swivel base as
an alternative to timber legs.

Healthcare
St Wilfrid's
Designed by Three Percent with Flourish Healthcare
In the same way that retirement living has evolved to
become more contemporary and desirable, St. Wilfrid’s
in Eastbourne from the Flourish Healthcare group
represents a more modern and innovative approach to
healthcare design. This new build hospice is open and
full of natural light and the soft furnishings offer the
style and comfort of a luxury hotel. Siena lounge chairs
from Morgan have been used for general seating areas
such as the reception along with wing lounge chairs and
sofas from the Seville collection.

Cruise
Crystal Cruises Serenity
Designed by Adfecto and IIBYIV
Described by many, including readers of Condenast
Traveller, as the world’s most luxurious cruise ship, the
Crystal Serenity has recently undergone a $17million
redesign. Pieces from the Seville, Hampton, Como,
Siena and City collections from Morgan all take pride
of place within the Crystal Penthouse Suites in the
master bedrooms, dining area and private living rooms.
For the southern Californian inspired Lido Café,
Morgan’s expertise in restaurant design was called upon.
A bespoke version of the Oslo timber-framed dining
chair was created; it was designed with an upholstered
inside back and distinctive ladder back on the outside.
A dining chair version in Iroko species timber was also
developed for the outside terrace seating.

G1 HQ
Designed by Graven
When the G1 Group, Scotland’s largest independent
leisure operator, relocated its head office to the West End,
Glasgow in 2013, it opted for an interior scheme that
was open and contemporary. Furniture from Morgan,
specifically Soho sofas and lounge chairs, feature in
the ground floor reception and informal soft seating
groups in the office. The designers have teamed these
with Boston tables and cleverly attached an iPad stand
to provide hospitality style comfort that also meets the
demands of the workplace.

BA Edinburgh

Created as a comfortable haven to work quietly and
grab some refreshment before flying, the British Airways
Executive Lounges are a real boon for regular business
travellers. Morgan has designed and supplied seating
and tables for the UK domestic lounges which is akin to
boutique hotel furniture to create an inviting and prestigious
environment for the airline’s most valued customers. The
Glasgow lounge came first and, following its successful
completion, was followed by Aberdeen, Edinburgh and
Belfast. In addition to the Hampton and Boston collections,
the Edinburgh lounge includes Seville wing lounge chairs
from Morgan as feature seating in the main entrance area.

Radisson Blu Manchester
Designed by Graven
Located on site at Manchester airport, the 360 room
Radisson Blu hotel has been a Carlson Rezidor flagship
property since first opening in 1998. As part of a recent
refurbishment in 2013, the Business Class Rooms and
Lounge on the top two floors have received a first class
refresh including Verona lounge chairs and sofas and
Boston tables in the Observation Lounge. Full height

glazing provides panoramic views of the airfield, while
the feather and foam seat cushions of the Veronas
beckon VIP guests to relax in comfort and enjoy the
hotel’s 4 Star hospitality. Morgan is also providing
lounge chairs for the hotel bedrooms from their Ribb
and Hampton collections.

The Intercontinental Westminster
Designed by RPW Design
Seville, Atlantic, Diva, Rotunda and Hampton from
Morgan are among the furniture collections to be found
at the 5 Star InterContinental Hotel in Westminster.
Seville lounge chairs were provided for all the guest
bedrooms with a matching footstool for added comfort;
both were adapted to have a slightly raised height in
order to be more visible within the room. Rotunda

lounge chairs with diamond stitch detail grace the
Lobby Tea Lounge, while the Atlantic dining chair
with square timber Diva tables feature in the Club
InterContinental Lounge. Grouped around the fireplace
in the Lounge are Rotunda lounge chairs with the
sofa from the classically elegant Hampton collection.

The French
Designed by Q Hotels

Refurbished and re-opened in March 2013, The French
restaurant is set within the Grade II listed Midland
Hotel in Manchester. The Panama dining chairs were
specified for the historic dining room which successfully
fuses new and old to create an ambiance that oozes
opulence and timeless elegance. Panama by the Morgan
Studio is a dining chair featuring a slim angled dynamic
frame and sharp square upholstery. An ergonomic
seating angle and webbed seat create light and
comfortable contemporary chairs which are appealing
and practical.

Orchard Hotel De Vere Venues
Designed by Graven
Located next to the East Midlands Conference Centre
in Nottingham, The De Vere Orchard hotel is an award
winning example of modern architecture and provides
the perfect setting for original contemporary furniture
pieces. Morgan appears throughout with some unique
restaurant design, lounge chairs, tables and modular
seating.

Soho banquette seating was developed in two heights
for the restaurant; this is teamed with the oak-framed
Oslo dining chair upholstered in modern colours.
Soho lounge chairs with circular cushions are grouped
throughout the stunning lobby area. All 202 bedrooms
are furnished with a Boston cantilever table in oak and
the versatile Manhattan modular seating system features
in the executive lounge.

Cruise
Windstar
Designed by McVitty Interior Consultants
With fewer than 300 guests, Windstar’s small ships
provide yacht style cruises with luxurious amenities
and the cachet of visiting ports that larger ships cannot
access. Morgan has supplied sofas, lounge chairs,
foot stools, dining chairs and coffee tables to two of
the ships: Wind Spirit and Wind Surf. The curved
back of the Pastille lounge chair with elegant show

wood legs provides a comfortable sit in the bar and is
complemented by Pastille bar furniture. With its slender
wooden frame and deeply upholstered seat and back,
the Opera dining chair provides the height of style and
elegance for the formal restaurants. Hampton, Como
and Siena collections also feature elsewhere onboard.

Pimlico
designed by Morgan Studio
Starting as a small bedroom chair, Pimlico was created by
the Morgan Studio team featuring smooth curved lines and
a unique inset oval seat pad which is wrapped by the frame.
Fully upholstered for maximum comfort, Pimlico succeeds
in offering a look which is youthful as well as being timeless
and elegant. Now available in a small and large lounge chair,
and a dining/meeting chair version.

Brompton

The Brompton sofa has been designed as a
contemporary piece of furniture with a traditional
touch. Its square form is subtly rounded and the
plain back is divided with a seam which enhances
the lumbar support. The armchairs feature a timber
back detail, shown here in walnut, which creates a
separate panel when viewed from the back. This can
match or contrast the upholstery on the rest of the
chair and allows the specifier to make it a feature with
contrasting fabric, buttons or quilting detail. The
Brompton can be found in 5 star hotel interiors as
well as office reception and public areas. The armchair
can also be supplied without the showwood detail on
the back.

Chelsea
The Chelsea chair has been designed primarily as a
restaurant chair. Light and elegant, it features curved
seat rails that make a playful repeat especially when
the chairs are viewed from the back. Available as a side
chair and an armchair, the frame is made in solid beech
as standard but can be made in walnut or oak species
on request. The chairs feature a piping detail or nail
trim is also an option.

Manhattan
The Manhattan Collection is a versatile modular
system with clean lines and a contemporary style,
with a steel leg or showwood leg detail. A multitude
of configurations can be achieved incorporating chairs,

sofas, bench seats and seating booths. The system is
based on three main elements: seat module, screen and
plinth. These create the main assemblies onto which
arms, legs and headrests can be added.

The Modena Collection features contemporary lounge
chairs and sofas including a versatile modular system.
The stylish Modena chair is generous, with a sweeping
upholstered arm detail that creates a sharp profile but
also a soft inviting shape. A smaller lounge chair has
been designed with the choice of a chrome swivel base.

The modular sofa has been developed with a show
wood base that links the units and avoids double legs.

The Lucca side chair is a versatile chair suitable for informal
dining. The fully upholstered seat features a continuous
piping detail which accentuates the radiused profile. The seat
appears to float on an elegant showwood base, shown here in
solid oak or black painted finish.

Lima
The Lima Collection is light and playful. Dining as well
as small lounge and large lounge chairs have a shaped seat
cushion and timber back. Constructed in three elements,
base, seat and back they offer the option of natural timber
combined with a painted finish.

Bold and contemporary, the Metro chairs feature onepiece upholstery with button back detail, a separate
timber base and optional timber arms. The base
can be oak or beech polished to any of our standard
finishes. Echoing a mid-century style, the chairs will
complement other collections such as the Soho, Miami
and Manhattan.

Oslo
Oslo is a lounge and dining collection with a light
design. Chairs feature an elegant timber skeleton
with simple drop seat and back pads. Modern
manufacturing techniques have been used to
achieve a hand-crafted look. These timber chairs will
complement any of Morgan’s upholstered products
and collection of tables. Oak or beech specification is
available, products shown here are in European oak.

The Panama Collection of dining and lounge chairs features
a slim, angled dynamic frame and sharp square upholstery
detailing. An ergonomic seating angle and webbed seat create
a light and comfortable contemporary chair.

The Miami Collection of sofas, chairs, stools and
bar stools create a striking contemporary version of a
vintage style on either timber legs or metal bases. They
are comfortable and generous in size. Upholstery details
can be tailored to include buttons.

The Soho Collection of sofas and chairs is contemporary
with echoes of 50s and 60s styling. Softened corners and
a high back create an inviting, comfortable and distinctive
form. A daybed version is also available and offers a
luxurious seating option.

The Chevy Collection owes its inspiration to the 1950s and
the styling and elegance of that era. It comprises sofas and
lounge chairs with either timber legs or metal bases and with
loose cushions or a fully wrapped seat detail suitable for any
contract environment.

The Ribb Collection of sofas and chairs is based on a square
exterior contrasting with a soft “ribbed” interior and available
in several lengths and back heights with a choice of timber or
chrome legs. The distinctive style of the high back creates a
booth seat that is intimate and imposing.

The Hampton Collection is a sofa and chair collection
with a classic profile and contemporary detailing. The
sofas include two and three seaters as well as a corner
modular unit. All models feature square stitched and
buttoned cushions and can have timber legs or a
polished timber base.

The Hampton modular system has a classic profile and
contemporary detailing. Designed for modern interiors,
the collection includes dining and lounge seating with
elegant upholstery and clean minimal timber structure.

The Seville Collection is an interpretation of the traditional
wing chair and club chair with a contemporary look. The
distinctive shape to the back and long sweeping curve on the
arms is reminiscent of a vintage style. The lounge chairs are
complemented by matching dining chairs and a bar stool.

The Seville Dining Collection is an interpretation
of the traditional wing chair and club armchair with a
contemporary look. Stylish and comfortable, the Seville
chairs have a distinctive shape to the back and a long
sweeping curve on the arms reminiscent of vintage
furniture of the last century.

The dining chairs have two arm options, a square and
a curved version. They have been designed with a deeply
padded seat for comfort and are suitable for dining and
meeting room applications. A matching bar stool is
also available.

The Atlantic Collection comprises dining chairs with timber
or upholstered arm versions, two back heights are available as
well as a stacking option. The comfort of the sculpted elegant
curved back allows for long meetings or fine dining.

The Boston Collection is very broad with many lounge
and dining chair options, as well as a bar stool, bench
and foot stool. This allows for a multiplicity of seating
options which, together with the Boston Tables and
Boston Terrace outdoor collection, provides many
complementary options.
The Boston Collection is a comprehensive series of
dining and lounge chairs with a slender frame inspired
by Cruise Liners and Colonial Hotels. All chairs are
available with or without arms and they have four
back options, ladder back, panel back, half panel back

and woven leather back. The arms feature a fine finger
joint and curved profile that is light and elegant. The
lounge chairs have deep and generous seats and lumbar
cushions as standard.

The Opera Collection comprises dining chairs incorporating
a slender timber frame with a hand grip detail and are
lightweight yet deeply padded for comfort. The lounge
chair has been designed with a deep seat and timber
or fully upholstered arms.

deep buttoning detail which offer elegance and comfort
in a classic style. A low, middle and high back option

The City Collection, designed by Morgan Studio, is modern,
sharp and minimal. The armchairs with timber legs or metal leg
options are complemented by two side chairs. The low back has
been designed to fulfil the requirement of fitting under a desk.

The Arena Collection comprises compact, economical tub
chairs with timber or aluminium legs or brushed steel swivel
bases. Having an identical footprint they can be used to vary
the visual arrangement. Despite being compact they are very
comfortable and well considered ergonomically.

The Como Collection offers small contemporary tub chairs
with various arm treatments to provide versatile and compact
seating. A large wing chair and footstool offer a larger and more
generous seating option reminiscent of traditional club chairs.

The Diva Collection of elegant dining chairs has a pure
minimal form and is available with a variety of arm and
back height configurations as well as a bar stool. The frame
features a gap between seat and back that enables the chair
to be moved without handling it from the top edge.

The Milano Collection is a contemporary, architectural style
which offers a generous size and comfort. The pure box shape
arm can be either veneered or upholstered complementing
the simplicity and purity of its form.

The Verona Collection of sofas and chairs has been designed to
provide a softer domestic sit and feel, while meeting contract
requirements for a firm cushion. The versatile range of options
is available either on timber bases or chrome legs and can be
linked into a modular system, including a corner unit.

Every lounge chair or sofa can be matched with an ottoman to

We manufacture everything ourselves, in our own factory, using sustainable PEFC/FSC
timber, first quality CMHR foams and appropriate fabrics to high contract
standards that ensure ergonomic comfort and longevity.
Our continuing commitment to improving the quality of our making and of our
service leads us to continuously invest in and improve the training of our team,
the IT equipment available to them, our lean projects and the machinery available
to our production team. The result has been the achievement of world class standards
in our quality measures and in our on time delivery measures.
We have regular seminars at our factory training other manufacturers to attain
similar standards so we are always proud to show customers around our factory
and welcome visitors.
