NWCC Board of Directors
Lee Outlines Country Coach Plan
more important, no bigger goal sits in front of me right
now than to be an enabler of job creation.”
December 1, 2010 by RV Business
One of Lane County, Ore.’s top employers of the past
is mounting a comeback. Country Coach in Junction
City is set to re-open in January to service RVs with a
plan to eventually expand operations, KVAL-TV,
Eugene, reported.
Jack Roberts, director of the Lane Metro-Partnership, believes the company is taking the right approach in this
first phase.
“They’re not going to jump over their heads, but I do think that
their goal is to be making coaches again and looking at some
other alternatives,” Roberts said.
Former owner Ron Lee is investing millions of his own
dollars in this new version of Country Coach. It’s a far
from the heyday of the RV industry but the wheels are
in motion for a comeback.
Even in a tough economy, Lee is confident good things will
happen.
The new company is called “Country Coach Corp.”
“It will happen,” Lee said. “I’m assured. If I wasn’t positive, I
wouldn’t go here. I’ve done it once, I can do it again.”
KVAL News had the chance Tuesday (Nov. 30) to sit
down for an exclusive interview with Ron Lee to find
out what he has in mind – and why he came out of retirement to do this.
Lee said if they can get a timely approval on their grant request,
they could announce plans to resume RV production next summer. That would mean 70 to 75 additional jobs.
The new Country Coach opens Jan. 3.
It will be a far cry from the pre-recession days of 1,800
workers on the payroll, but Lee says 16 to 20 employees will be hired initially to service RVs, work the paint
shop and handle consignment sales.
Lee’s three goals?
“I want to save the property.
“Two: I want to save Country Coach for those (RV)
owners that have been loyal to us for years,” Lee said.

And three: Jobs. “Give them jobs again in Lane
County, Junction City – to put my friends back to work
here again,” he said.
KVAL’s Tom Adams asked Lee and chief engineer
David Diamond, “Gentlemen, how much investment is
this going to take to get the doors open and get things
moving here - or is that a number you can’t disclose?” Lee: “Actually, I’m committing roughly $12
million to this project.” Officials announced their plans
on the new company website.
Ultimately, they want to start making RVs again. They
said that will take a $5 million state, federal or local
grant. Diamond tells KVAL, “We’re busy; we’re working hard on securing that funding to make things happen and happen as quickly as possible. Nothing is

FROM YOUR TREASURER
Hi Everyone! This has been a busy fall for your Treasurer. Between vacation and Christmas I have been moving
our banking accounts to Wells Fargo, due to some changes
with Bank of America that did not work for our club accounts. We are now up and running with the new
account and ready to have us all complete our 2011
Renewals.
Fred has worked hard to add PayPal to our club for those
that would like to handle payments without sending in a
check. We are still working on all the details, but if you
would like to use that option, simply send in your completed
form and check the box for me to send you an invoice (via
email). Otherwise the tried and true check will be
welcomed. Thank you for your patience and your prompt
attention to your dues.

SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT TIME AT
THE LONG BEACH, WA
GATHERING!!
Our rally at Long Beach this year started out a bit
stressful. We had 11 rigs all set to enjoy the sand, surf and
clams. Between medical issues and family emergencies we
dwindled down to 5 coaches, but what an exceptional group
to spend a weekend with. The Down's, Case's, Kondra's
and Serex's, were waiting when Frank and I arrived Friday
morning. We all headed separate ways to enjoy Long
Beach for the afternoon. Vern Kondra was our only clam
digger and prepared to head out for the Friday night
tide. We adjusted our timing for our social hour to welcome
him back with fresh clams. Once again we all
enjoyed great food together and talked about our Saturday
adventures.

Please Join the NWCCers Yahoo Group
The Yahoo Group is a great way to share information in a
quick manner. There is considerable conversation about
parts, repairs and general items of interest. This site is even
more popular as we all search for answers about our Country
Coach. It’s fun, informative and free. Contact Lee Casebeer

The next morning was blustery but it was the coast
in November!, Glenda Serex joined Frank and I for an afternoon of Geo Caching. This was her first time and Frank
helped her get acquainted with her GPS. The Down's also
were out and about town with their GPS. We had a great
time searching both the town and the beaches for
our caches.
Several of our company enjoyed a cozy afternoon
watching football games, while Vern watched the weather
and decided to not head out for the second tide. Clamming
in the heavy rain in the dark
changed his mind.
We all had a fun time learning more about each
other and while geo caching and golf seemed to be the
shared interests, once again we enjoyed each other's company for a wonderful dinner. The weather continued to be
an adventure, we had one of the doors of our clubhouse
blow open and break
off its hinge!, but we
were warm and dry
while we enjoyed
fresh breaded clams,
thanks Vern!
We decided
to enjoy breakfast
together Sunday before many headed
on. The Serex's
pulled out to hitch up the tow car and a mini tech session
ensued with Vern sharing his shield to protect the tow
car. Frank's brain is already spinning to make one for our
rig. What a way to end a great weekend.
Frank and I want to thank everyone for making it
easy for us to step in and organize the weekend. The park
once again was a joy to work with and while they told me
they REALLY missed Fred, they are looking forward to us
coming back. Dana Suttell

Have you been following the new Sarah Palin reality show on cable TV? Guess what – she owns a
Country Coach! In the recent episode their coach was featured while they were in Homer, AK, on a commercial fishing
boat, she was on deck killing halibut with a baton. Then they moved into the Sound and were digging razor clams. The
entire Palin clan travels and camps together in their Country Coach Lexa during the show.
Alaska is in the club charter, maybe we could send her a formal invite to join the NWCCers. If she accepts, we could set
up a picture of Sarah on the front page of the Newsletter – wouldn’t that be a hoot! A little comic relief from Herb Harris!
