Newly Sawn and Reclaimed We custom-make floors from over 10 species of newly sawn solid wood and several species of reclaimed wood. We end-match all our floors and can also plain, rift, or rift and quartersaw your floors to best suit your needs. Beams To complete your new, remodeled, or restored home, we make structural beams from many species of either newly sawn or reclaimed wood. We offer it plain sawn (flat grain and figuring), rift sawn (straight vertical grain), or rift and quartersawn (dazzling flecks and swirls). Our sustainably grown oak mellows to a golden patina over time and makes a contemporary, comfortable, and long-lasting floor. We make these ultrastable, vertical grain floors from a wide variety of species. The riftsawn and quartersawn techniques produce dramatic flecks and figuring in the wood and increase the overall hardness. Plus, they offer the best stability of any solid wood when installed over radiant heat or a concrete surface. Slow growth hickory is equally comfortable in a country cabin or Manhattan penthouse. It can be kept natural or stained to soften the contrast between the sapwood and heartwood. Chosen for its bright, sunny character, ash has subtle swirling grain patterns combined with occasional knots. We offer it in our own Vermont Select™ grade, with a mixture of sapwood and heartwood that further enhances the rich character of ash. The structures are carefully dismantled and cut into planking to be used for floors or barnboard. This wood was cut from trees that lived for 100 to 200 years, and was then used in structures for perhaps another 100. Once reclaimed it will proudly go into your home for another lifetime or two. We offer reclaimed floors in a variety of species including heart pine, oak, chestnut, white pine, and milled barnwood.
