Rankings in HE policy
Statements without sequel…
(2010)
The actions initiated by the government will lead
to the Polish universities entering Europe’s top 50.
(2015)
We should not fetishise rankings, but we should
not underestimate them either. For example the
fact that absence of Polish universities in the
international rankings makes it difficult to draw
foreign investors to Polish science and economy.

Rankings and internationalisation
Conculsions
There is evidently a strong link between rankings and
internationalisation.
Fundamental question: How to measure internationalisation
of a university or a system in a good and informative way?
More importance should be attached to the institutions’ and
systems’ ability to prepare young people to function in the
new, globalised and digitalised world .– both when reflecting
upon internationalisation and when establishing the key
criteria for quality evaluation in rankings.
