Speakers Find Your Fandom @ the Library & Comic Con This month sees the return of the popular Fort Collins Comic Con, a fun locally-organized and affordable Con experience for all ages at the Northside Aztlan Center from August 26 – 28. Fort Collins Comic Con is celebrating its second year as a local event to encourage youth literacy through comic books and other pop-culture media. One hundred percent of the ticket proceeds benefit the Poudre River Public Library District to promote reading and encourage the next generation of superheroes! Whether you appreciate comics, Star Wars, Buffy, Harry Potter, zombies, gaming, steampunk, or another fandom entirely, the Con is an excellent opportunity to find your fandom and get involved in reading, interactive learning experiences, author/artist interviews, and the always entertaining cosplay. Attendees will love the game rooms with tabletop drop-ins and CONNECTIONS demos; a huge vendor area featuring over 100 authors, creators, exhibitors, and more; and the multiplayer Minecraft. The smaller fans can also visit a superhero training camp! There are limited tickets being sold, so buy yours today! And when the Con is over, you can continue to connect with your fandom through the Library District. Did you know that the libraries have great selections of comic books and graphic novels available for all ages? Recently, the Library District – in collaboration with Gryphon Games and Comics – began adding different comic book titles and series to all of its locations, like Teen Titans, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Hellcat. Plus there’s activities scheduled throughout the year to satisfy that cosplay and fandom itch. The Library District even has an Anime Club where teens gather after school to watch anime favorites and chat about manga. Want even more fandom opportunities? The Library District schedules many unique activities during the Game On!
