Wall Mirror
Cast Aluminium
Rectangular Mirror Plate
481/2 W x 23/4 D x 68 H in
123 W x 7 D x 173 H cm
Inspired by a delicate Italian Baroque wall mirror hand
carved in walnut, this 68” tall version is fashioned from
materials more familiar to the modern day than the age
of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Cast in shining aluminium and
celebrating the unique casual properties of the material,
the central beveled edge mirror is framed by a silvered
mahogany moulding. The contrast of modern materials
and overscaled size with the classical Baroque aesthetic
makes for a magnificent sculptural statement that spans
the ages.
This mirror is part of Theodore Alexander ‘s ‘Distinctly
Continental’ collection comprising more than 40 new
pieces of furniture.

Accent Chair / Gilt Steel / Bowed Bar Toprail /
Scroll Arms / Upholstered Back Pad and Seat /
Slender Cabriole Legs
Entirely hand finished in gold metal leaf, the
material of this chair has allowed us to create
a form which generally elicits from a heavier
aesthetic. The steel frame, with its scroll arms,
thin bar toprail reminiscent of a Klismos chair and
fine cabriole legs combine as a delicate whole.
Hand leafing is achieved by individually applying
micron thin sheets of metal leaf to a frame. Each
leaf is around 4” square and extremely delicate,
so the skill required applying these takes years to
perfect. Part of the beauty of the metal leaf finish
is that the texture of the leaf can still be seen in
the finished item and the technique of application
becomes part of the beauty of the final chair.

Vase Accent Table / Hand Leafed Gilt /
Black Lacquered Collar
This quirky little metal leafed table combines
traditional and modern crafts and design. Using
centuries old Asian lacquering techniques,
colour and depth of finish is built up layer by
meticulous layer. Up to 25 coats of lacquer are
used to achieve the deep luster of the top,
where twinkling gold leaf striations subtly glow
beneath the surface. The black ‘neck’ of the vase
provides a striking contrast to the rest of the
table and makes the gold leaf pop. This table is
also available in a warm gold leaf finish without
the black accent.

Cocktail Table / Oval Top /
Black Open Grain Tamo Ash Veneer /
’Berlin Silver’ Plated Base
A striking form, this table celebrates
texture and materials. The top
and edge are veneered in Tamo or
Manchuirian Ash from Japan whose
grain is completely unique in woods.
The open grain of the wood creates
fascinating high and low-lights and
adds a watery felling to the otherwise
plain surface.
The base, although from afar seemingly
plain, is plated in ‘Berlin Silver’, inspired
by 1920s plated hotel tableware. These,
due to their thick plating, used to take
on a wonderful patina over time and
even the sign of wear and use have
become marks of value to the collector.
A range of furniture adorned with Berlin
Silver accents is available at Theodore
Alexander in classic and modern styles.

A modern take on a Chinese original,
this console table is inspired by a classic
Chinese Altar Tables, used to display
statues of deities and incense burners.
The top is wrapped in a light charcoal top
grain leather which will take on a vintage
patina over time. The light Wenge veneer is
hand brushed to bring out its natural grain.

Cocktail Table
Sunburst Amara Ebony Veneer
Mahogany
62 W x 62 D x 18 H in
157 W x 157 D x 46 H cm
Inspired by a 17th century Ming Dynasty Luohan daybed this cocktail table adapts
its design predecessor to create a modern silhouette. In the Ming Dynasty only
the finest of these beds were made from Huanghuali, a rare rosewood also used in
Chinese medicine. Our use of Amara ebony on this table - which has some of the
grain features of the original wood - is a nod to the Huanghuali ancestry. The strong
mahogany legs support the sunburst inlaid top and the offset sunburst subverts the
traditional pattern and creates additional directional movement.

Clamp Legs with Brass Claps
The oval top is inlaid in fragrant imbuya
burl which creates dramatic patterns.
Theodore Alexander’s complex layered
finishing techniques allow us to apply
darker colours and still retain a clarity
which allows us to showcase the unusual
features of this veneer. Clasped by
mahogany legs – joined in turn by brass
crossbars – the table takes on a clean
modern identity.

Six Pull-Out Sections
Six Self Storing Fold-Out Leaves

198 x 198 x 75 cm
Closed: 603/4 x 603/4 x 291/2 in
154 x 154 x 75 cm
This extending dining table is inspired by an extending
dining table by Robert Jupe, circa 1830. Robert Jupe’s tables
functioned on a revolving mechanism which required leaves to
be stored separately from the table itself. Theodore Alexander’s
patented mechanism allows those leaves to be ingeniously selfstored. The table can be easily expanded and this casual take
on a traditional table uses inswept legs inspired by the Regency
period in a more Casual Modern mood. The hewn walnut finish
allows the table to be integrated in casual or modern settings
and creates a wonderful textured surface that plays with light.
The table is part of Theodore Alexander’s NoDa Collection
designed by Thor Taber. Theodore Alexander also offers this
patented function on several Modern, Casual and Classic styles.

Bombé Chest of Drawers
Walnut Burl & Walnut Veneer
Mahogany
Oak Lined Drawers
48 x 23 x 341/2 in | 122 x 58 x 88 cm
The bombé chest had its heyday in the mid 18th century and was an
essential part of the Rococo interior in Louis XVth’s France with the form
also being adopted in Venice in a variety of styles. As with many continental
styles, English cabinetmakers often adopted those fashionable forms and
made the decoration more subtle and in local materials. This example
reflects this reduction to essentials perfectly, with brass decoration kept to
a minimum the piece becoming more of a sculptural than decorated form.
The drawers and top are veneered in a sun-bleached finished European
walnut burl and the sides are in crown walnut veneer. The piece has the
presence of a collectable that has been treasured for generations.
This chest is part of the Waveney Collection by the English Cabinetmaker
for Theodore Alexander. It exemplifies true antique finishes which reflect
authentic patina and veneer treatments in a casual English mood.

Berlin Silver Roundel of Diana the Huntress /
Two Frieze Drawers / Hand Leafed Streaked Gold
Finish Gilt Steel Open Tapering Legs /
LED Lit Interior / Three Mirror Backed Sections /
Two Adjustable Shelves and One Drawer
55 W x 19 D x 60 H in | 140 W x 48 D x 152 H cm
Veneered in richly coloured mahogany, the
decoration at eye level on this cabinet is almost
minimalistic. A Classical roundel shows Diana in
her guise as the huntress with a hound at her side,
a quiver and bow. The doors conceal a fully fitted
bar with a mirror back and storage.
The more elaborate base of the cabinet has two
drawers inset into the undulating apron which
also has hand leafed gilt beading. The whole is
raised on openwork gilt steel tapering legs, with
each leg containing a gilt ball.
The whole piece evokes an Art Deco aesthetic
but the gilt details and lighter base add lightness
to the cabinet that defies the masculine and
architectural perception of the style.

Splayed End Supports
Stainless Steel ‘Rigging Toggle’ Stretchers and ‘Anchor Plate’
62 W x 30 D x 30 H in | 157 W x 76 D x 76 H cm
Ebonised mahogany throughout, the slatted recessed
top is overlaid with a glass writing surface. The lack of
a perceived solid surface on the table makes this piece
feel light. The trestle supports to each side are hand
carved and edged and are smooth to the touch which
no sharp edges – this softness is also seen in the gently
rounded edges and corners of the top. The unusual
stainless steel fittings are inspired by Yacht rigging
technology and materials from the 1960s.

This Secrétaire à Abbatant or fall front desk is
inspired by a 19th century French original. Despite
the inspiration being 160 years old, the function of
this piece is still very relevant to today’s interiors. It
provides great storage and the desk can be folded
away when not in use. The grey blue exterior,
reminiscent of the Gustavian treatments of French
furniture, encloses a striking ivory fitted interior
with drawers, pigeon holes and a charging station.
The central revolving panel changes from plain
ivory to a vintage mirror so the piece can be used
as a dressing table.
This fall front desk is part of Theodore Alexander‘s
‘Distinctly Continental’ collection comprising more
than 40 new pieces of furniture.

The Hunt Table
AL53052
‘Hunt Table’ / Mahogany / Reclaimed Oak, Pollard Oak Burl / Fold out
leaves and pull out Lopers / Two Frieze Drawers
Part of the Althorp Living History ‘Victory Oak’ collection, this table is
inspired by a William & Mary original from around 1690. Victory Oak
celebrates the early history of Althorp as the seat of the Spencer family.
Hand crafted from reclaimed oak veneers and solid mahogany, this table
serves a dual function for serving or dining. The fold-out leaves rest
on pull out lopers and the frieze also has two frieze drawers. The top is
veneered in thick antique oak reclaimed from French architectural beams.
Knot holes are repaired with English pollard oak.
Although the traditional 18th century English Hunt Table was semi-circular
in form, tables such as this, now commonly given the moniker of ‘Hunt
Tables’ would have been in use in earlier periods for serving and dining
tables. The Spencer family has been involved with the Pytchley Hunt in
Northamptonshire since 1635.
The Victory Oak collection comprises 30 items of furniture. Theodore
Alexander has been collaborating with the Althorp Estate for 15 years.

“We have had a passion for glass since a young age
and always wanted to combine gorgeous colored
glass with rich wood. Our answer is Aquamara. The
luxurious Amara Ebony veneered discs radiate out
from the aqua-colored glass column. The disk-shaped
shelves seem to float above the base. The contrast of
the optical glass, the veneer and the stainless steel
collars creates an Accent table with a capital ‘A’!”

at the same time functional. Its slow closing
drawers make it very easy to use.”
