– Our aim when we changed supplier
was to have tomorrow’s colocation,
and for us that was a supplier able
to offer a two center solution. We
would then be able to close our own
backup data center, which had high
running costs, and put our internal IT
resources into business development
instead, says Leif Gustafsson, IT
Manager at Midroc.
An incident also occurred at Midroc’s
own data center when a black fiber
cable was cut, making clear the need
for a solution outside the company.
– Being involved in a major incident
makes you aware of how sensitive
the whole chain is. It is extremely
important to have up-to-date
procedures and monitoring on site.
Midroc surveyed the market and
decided on Sungard AS, which was
able to offer colocation in two data
centers.
When Midroc, which operates
within property, construction,
industry and environment,
selected Sungard Availability
Services as its colocation
supplier, the option of a two
data center solution was
decisive. By locating its IT
operations in DC2 Stockholm
South in Sätra and backup
in DC1 Stockholm Center at
Gärdet, Midroc reduced its
costs, increased its security
and freed up IT resources
internally.
– Our system is monitored 24 hours
a day and we have the security of
knowing that we can always join
forces with Sungard AS if anything

are really sensitive to our needs, says
Leif Gustafsson.

Sungard Availability Services
is opening yet another advanced
new data center, in Sollentuna north
of Stockholm, to meet customers'
growing demand for modern data
centers in two locations. The new
data center accompanies the
state-of-the-art data center that
Sungard AS opened in 2009 in
Sätra, south of Stockholm (DC2
Stockholm South). Large numbers
of customers are requesting twin
sites in two locations, preferably with
access to a third disaster recovery
site. Now it’s a reality. With market
leading Coromatic as contractor, the
data center DC3 Stockholm North
in Sollentuna is in operation from
February 1st, 2013.
The data center in Sätra in Stockholm
South is highly appreciated by
customers and is one of the most
advanced, energy efficient data
centers in Europe. In 2009 we
were awarded "Sweden's greenest
data center” in competition with
more than 50 other data centers.
We have utilized the knowledge
and experience gained from DC2
Stockholm South in Sätra to design
and operate our new data center DC3
Stockholm North in Sollentuna.

Today constructing a high level of
security around your data center is a
matter of course for companies and
