WHERE
WORK
1992 - 1994: TECC STRONG ADVOCACY: EARLY CREEK PROTECTION
Preservation of 366 acres of lands associated with the Santa Fe Creek development
and construction of the Olivenhain Dam. Also completed a series of creek cleanups.
1998: TECC TAKES OWNERSHIP OF BUMANN PROPERTY/BECOMES LAND STEWARD
Took title to the 21-acre property in Rancho Santa Fe per developer mitigation.
Property supports the Western Pond Turtle, a sensitive species.
2000 - TODAY: PRESERVING A FOREVER HOME FOR A THREATENED SONGBIRD
TECC purchased key properties to create the Los Cielos Preserve in Elfin Forest and helped direct a
$50+ million public land conservation investment to support the threatened California gnatcatcher.
2008/2009 - TODAY: THE ELFIN FOREST INTERPRETIVE CENTER/
PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OLIVENHAIN MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT
Helped create the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center at the 784-acre Elfin Forest Recreational
Reserve used for ecological education programs serving 450+ people per year.
2008 - TODAY: PROTECTING A MAJOR PUBLIC
INVESTMENT/BUILDING A CONSERVATION VISION
Secured properties in Harmony Grove such as Quarry (23 acres), Family Stations (119 acres),
and University Heights (244 acres/Phase 1). Implementing conservation vision for North County
by linking preserved lands between watersheds.
2010 - TODAY: PRESERVING THE UPPER ESCONDIDO CREEK
WATERSHED: SUSTAINING A WILD LEGACY
Building on the vision of the City of Escondido when it preserved the 3,000acre Daley Ranch, TECC is working to secure strategic properties which
will enhance wildlife movement and protect Escondido Creek in the
upper watershed above the city. TECC’s preservation efforts at Bottle
Peak (418 acres, 2010) and MJM Ranch (92 acres, 2013) help build on
that legacy.
2010 - TODAY: THE ESCONDIDO CREEK TRAIL:
CONNECTING NEIGHBORHOODS
TECC is working with the City of Escondido to implement
improvements along the Escondido Creek trail like the
Plaza de Arroyo pocket park. Escondido Creek through
the city of Escondido should be a source of civic
pride and serve as a linear park for people and
wildlife.

YO U R C O N T R I B U T I O N S
The Escondido Creek
Conservancy helped
direct over $50M
investment in land, in
the Elfin Forest/Harmony
Grove area alone.
For every $1
supporters have
donated to TECC,
TECC has been able
to leverage that
donation into $82
through public and
private partnerships.
Even small donations
are very powerful as
small donations are
accumulated and used
to help “match” larger
donations and grants.
