The Products
Squalene
INCI Name: Squalene
There is an increasing demand to this product but only a very limited supply in the
world.
Ekiz Plant is equipped with the latest technology and designed and controlled by Italian
consultants who are professionals in this field. Today, Ekiz’s Squalene production
capacity is 320 MT per year.
Squalene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon made up of carbon and hydrogen (C50H50).
Vegetable Squalene is a popular ingredient in natural cosmetic and pharmaceutical
formulations, thanks to its chemical similarities to human sebum.
It can be obtained from 2 main sources. Vegetable Squalene is from Olive Oil Fatty
Acids and Marine Squalene is from the livers of Deep Sea Sharks.

In human sebum, Squalene percentage decreases with time and as we age, additional
usage of Squalene helps skin to renew itself, decrease the loss of moisture and
increases the strength of the skin against aging.
Clinical tests prove that Ekiz Vegetable Squalene;
ü Significantly reduce the mean values of TEWL and improve the skin
moisturization index after 15 days of product use. (CORNEOMETER AND
TEWAMETER)
ü Is EFFECTIVE in improving trophic properties of cell cultures and countering the
damaging effects of oxidative stress. (MTT)
ü Assesses no irritant properties so therefore, practically non irritant. (HET-CAM)
ü Has no allergic properties to human skin and therefore it is totally hypoallergenic.

Ekiz Vegetable Squalene Wax, is produced from Vegetable Squalene after several
steps of purification and deodorization, consists of high percentage of Squalene and
vegetable waxes.
Vegetable Squalene: > 70%
Saturated Paraffins: > 15%
Collecting all the benefits of Vegetable Squalene in a creamy structure which imparts a
heavier, moisturizing skin feel.
Thanks to its occlusive properties Ekiz Vegetable Squalene Wax is well suited for use
in Lip Products, Night Creams and all Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical products where a
heavier and occlusive skin feel are desired.
