Visit the Central Manitoulin Welcome
Centre - your all-inclusive family
information resource. Experience the Interpretive
Centre in Providence Bay or stroll the one and a
half kilometre boardwalk that spans Manitoulin’s
longest sandy beach. Observe the Manitou River Dam
Site in Sandfield and witness a functioning dam.
Wander across a charming bridge to enjoy Picnic
Island and take pleasure in one of our many
local picturesque settings.
The Heart Of It All
Diverse landscapes, vibrant starry
skies, crystal clear waters, ancient fossils,
unique flora, abundant fauna,
breathtaking scenery, an unspoiled environment
& friendly people all make up a typical
Manitoulin Island experience.
The Annual Homecoming Weekend,
held over Canada Day weekend, features
a parade, kids games, a triathlon challenge,
great food and entertainment and a baseball
tournament. Every year, over Father’s Day Weekend,
teams gather for the annual Pearson Cup Softball
Tournament. The Providence Bay Fall Fair, held the
third full weekend in August, is one of
Manitoulin’s most popular events.

Outdoor Activities
Journey around and about Central
Manitoulin and discover several local
historic sites and memorials. Step back in time
at Pioneer Museum in Mindemoya and experience
a hands-on portrayal of early settler lifestyles
from a bygone era. Examine a growing inventory
of local historic artifacts and memorabilia from
yesteryear's farming, lumbering and fishing days.
For the outdoor enthusiast the
possibilities are endless. Consider camping,
swimming, fishing, canoeing, cycling, archery, bird
watching, astronomy or hiking. Golfers can enjoy
one of Manitoulin's three challenging and
well-groomed golf courses. Central Manitoulin
