Dear Friends of Southern Tier Catholic and Archbishop Walsh:
Welcome to our Eagles Gala Auction!
Since my arrival as School President in mid-July, I have witnessed firsthand the unique and special nature of
the Southern Tier Catholic and Archbishop Walsh Academy family. Our parents, teachers, administrators,
staff and volunteers provide excellent educational and social growth opportunities based upon the precepts of
our Catholic faith for all children in Montessori through the Senior Year.
Tonight, I am delighted to be joining with you in the premier greater Olean area social fundraising event. I
marvel at the efforts of our Gala Committee, their families and the myriad number of volunteers who have
made this Gala so enjoyable and beneficial to our Southern Tier Catholic and Archbishop Walsh students. A
special “shout-out” goes to Dina’s of Ellicottville for the delectable food and savory refreshments!
The Eagles Gala Auction engages our entire community of parents, students, alumni, faculty, staff, neighbors
and friends in raising funds to benefit the full spectrum of our student body – scholar, athlete, artist, and club
participant. Your presence here tonight ensures our capability to fulfill our mission to prepare our students for
college and career underscored with Catholic faith values.
Thus, we continue to focus our near-term efforts upon the responsible growth of our student body through
outreach and education, scholarships and financial aid, robust student exchange programs and use of student
performance data and 21st Century technology to diversify and differentiate our educational practices. As our
program becomes more sure-of-foot, we will create a strategic plan to sustain long-term stability in all areas of
our school operations and educational program.
Our cadre of volunteers is commended for dedicating their time, effort and leadership to benefit our students
while the school community has much “Western-style” fun in the process.
Southern Tier Catholic School and Archbishop Walsh Academy also recognize our donors, sponsors and
attendees. It is your generosity that makes the Gala Auction possible and such a wonderful success. Thank

Auction Procedures
Silent Auction
 All silent auction areas will open at 5:30 p.m.
 Bids are made using the assigned Bidder Identification number printed on your Auction night bidding paddle. You may only bid with the number assigned to you. This number matches your name with the Auction database and bank for all your bidding and purchases throughout the evening.
 Each item in the Silent Auction has a bid sheet. Each sheet is divided into a series of incremental bidding steps. Place a bid by printing your assigned bidder number on the appropriate line. Please print clearly, since illegible bids will be discarded. Under no circumstances may a bid sheet be removed or earlier bids crossed out.
 Each opening bid must equal or exceed the minimum bid indicated on the bid sheet and you must increase the bid by at least the next minimum raise indicated.
 An item is closed when a bid is placed in the “Buy It Now Box” or an Auction Official closes the bidding area at the posted closing time. No further bids will be accepted for that item, with no exceptions.
Any bids entered after official closing of an area will not be recognized.
Live Auction
 The Live Auction will commence at 8:15 p.m. and continue without interruption until all items have
been auctioned.
 Please hold your bidding number high in the air so there is no question of your intention to bid. Do not hesitate to verbalize your bid.
 Decisions of the auctioneer are final.
 The winning bid number will be recorded and will constitute the bidder’s agreement to pay this amount.
Check-Out & Payment
 All sales are final. There will be no cash refunds with goods exchangeable only where specified.
 Payment in full is to be made on the evening of the Auction by Cash, Check, or Credit Card (Visa or
Master Card).
 All items and certificates must be picked up on Auction night unless otherwise specified.
 Purchasers are bound by any restrictions or expiration dates as specified by the donor. Unless otherwise
noted, all goods and services must be claimed and used within one year of the auction date.
 If appropriate, please contact the donor as soon as possible to finalize arrangements.

Check-out made fast & easy. Register for “QuickCheck” at the entrance table.
Hand in the completed form you received in the mail or stop to fill one out. You may either
provide a signed blank check made payable to Archbishop Walsh Academy or list your
credit card information (Visa or MasterCard).
At the end of the evening, head to “QuickCheck” located in the lobby. Review your
final purchase total for the evening and then head directly to Gift Depot to pick-up your items.
We will complete the payment process for you. Following the Auction you will be mailed a
final purchase statement, as well as a reservation statement (if applicable) summarizing your
total purchases and any tax deductible amounts.
STCS & Walsh have endeavored to catalog and describe the donated goods and services correctly based on the information provided by
the donor. STCS & Walsh make no express or implied warranties whatsoever, including estimate of value with respect to any items sold.
All goods and services are auctioned in “as is” condition. In the event that a donor defaults in providing a promised service or the item
purchased, the refund by STCS/Walsh is limited to the amount paid at the Auction.

to give the forest a sense of movement and life. The structure itself has the softness of being
weathered yet sturdy in the classic Park design. Notice a camper’s white bath towel hanging

Scholarship & Experiences.
Last year, attendees of the Walsh Gala Auction raised their paddles and
donated $29,000 to the special appeal.
With those donations, we were able to offer two (2) four-year half
scholarships at the high school level and three (3) half scholarships at the
middle school level.
Additionally, members of the class of 2014 spent three days and two nights
in Washington, D.C. - a first time experience for the majority of our students.
They were able to take their learning on the road, and learn first-hand about our
nation’s history and capital. These donations also allowed the school to make a
commitment to send the next three senior classes to D.C.
Your support makes it possible for students to attend STCS/Walsh and offer
new educational experiences outside the classroom. Our hope is to add similar
experiences for middle and grade school students.
