bayside university - Bayside Quilting!
BAYSIDE UNIVERSITY January 2007 through March 2007 Welcome to 2007 and Bayside is really cooking this year!! A wonderful “menu” of classes and clubs to choose from! Our master chefs (quilters) have been busy…come in and see the marvelous quilts they’ve cooked up. Let our colorful samples whet your appetite for a productive year of quilting! First on the menu! Celebrity Quilters Betty Cotton March 2007 Betty hails from Wisconsin and opened her shop The Quilt Yard in 1996, the same year she developed a new fold and finish method that creates a reversible quilt with a new dimension called “The Cotton Theory”. Ever since Betty was in high school and started working in a fabric store, she dreamed of having her own quilt shop. The Quilt Yard started in an old school house and in 1999 moved to Osseo, Wisconsin in 1999 where she bought a 100-year old building for her new shop. Cotton Theory, unlike traditional quilt construction, has the sewer quilting FIRST, one segment at a time, and then assembled using the fold and finish procedure. This makes quilting easy no matter the size of your quilt. You can quilt pieces creatively and accurately to produce completely reversible quilts with decorative stitches and optional machine embroidery. All work is done by machine; there’s no need to do handwork. Got your interest? Don’t miss this fun teacher and new method! By purchasing your supplies at Bayside Quilting, you help us continue to offer great classes! Loaner Machines We have a variety of loaner machines available. These machines are Featherweights, Juki or Baby Lock machines. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis, for use during classes (in-store use only). If you wish to use a classroom machine, be sure to indicate that at the time of registration. Arrive 20 minutes early to check out the machine and practice using it before class begins. During Class Many classes run into or through the lunch hour. You may bring your lunch and place it in the refrigerator. There are numerous delis in the area; the staff can assist in coordinating lunch orders if time permits. We provide hot drinks and water. In consideration of the instructor and your fellow students, please do not bring children or cell phones to class. If you expect to receive a call, alert the staff that you might be receiving a call and ask the caller to call you on the store phone (360-9436991). We will be glad to call you out of class to take it.
