WELCOME LETTER
August 2015
Greetings Beta Alpha Psi Meeting Attendees,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2015 Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home to the Milwaukee Brewers, Harley-Davidson, and the
best cheese in the world.
The 2015 Annual Meeting kicks off with two opportunities for our membership to
participate in community service efforts for the Milwaukee area:
• First, those participants selected for Project Run With It, sponsored by Moss
Adams LLP, will develop proposal presentations for local area not-for-profit
organizations in response to requests for assistance with special projects; and,
• Second, on Thursday, all remaining Annual Meeting participants will have
the opportunity to participate in our annual Community Service Day (CSD).
This year, CSD is a collaboration among Beta Alpha Psi, KPMG LLP, KPMG
Foundation, First Book, and United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha
County. For the third year, we are hosting BAP International Day of Literacy.
We will hold Literacy Fairs at five local Boys and Girls Clubs, two United Way
Agencies and four elementary schools serving children from low-income
families in Milwaukee. This exceptional opportunity will allow us to engage
directly with the children in a variety of fun activities that will hopefully bring out
the inner child in each of us. During our Literacy Fairs, every child will have a
book read to them and then will receive a new book to take home. For many of
these students, this will be the first book that they have ever owned.
In addition to these two events that reinforce Beta Alpha Psi’s commitment to giving
back to the community, the meeting’s remaining programming, networking, and
events are structured to reinforce the fundamental concepts behind developing
leadership skills; building relationships with peers and professionals; recognizing and
rewarding scholastic success; developing mental toughness; instilling a commitment
to lifelong professional development; ethical behavior; and service through the
following sessions:
• Presentations created by your peers to help you effectively and efficiently run
your chapters;
• Competence-building sessions delivered by the BAP Professional Partners;
• Keynote addresses that will help you develop your leadership skills;
• Expert panel discussions; and,
• Networking opportunities with professionals, exhibitors, faculty advisors, and
fellow students.

BETA ALPHA PSI PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS
The Beta Alpha Psi Professional Partners further the mission and programs of
the Beta Alpha Psi organization through the commitment of financial and people
resources, knowledge and talent. Members of the Beta Alpha Psi Professional
Partners financially support BAP through annual member fees that subsidize the
Regional and Annual meetings each year. Additionally, individual BAP Professional
Partner representatives utilize their personal networks to secure speakers for these
meetings, or their personal knowledge and expertise to deliver professional session
content. Representatives function as judges for the annual Best Practices competition,
review nominations and select winners of the Business Information Professional of
the Year awards, and network with student members and faculty advisors of Beta
Alpha Psi to provide input, counsel and advice regarding careers in the areas of
accounting, finance and information systems. Finally, a number of Professional Partner
organizations and associations sponsor the many student chapter and faculty advisor
awards each year. As a result of the generous support and commitment of the Beta
Alpha Psi Professional Partners, Beta Alpha Psi remains the leading organization for

Raffle Drawings
Exhibitors have the liberty to conduct raffles in their assigned area. Winners will
be posted in the individual exhibitor areas and not announced. Prizes that are not
claimed will be posted on the BAP Annual Meeting Mobile App and the winner will

Reception
A welcome reception will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, from 6:00–8:00pm in the Exhibit
Hall. The Exhibit Hall is located in Exhibit Hall C on the Upper Level.
Refreshment Breaks
Refuel between educational sessions with a beverage, network with members from
other chapters, and obtain the answers to all your questions. Check the agenda
for refreshment break locations, so you can maximize your networking between
sessions.

The safety and security of attendees is our first priority. Should you have or be
aware of an emergency, please be prepared to provide the following information

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
KIMBERLY ELLISON-TAYLOR
Executive Director, Oracle USA
Kimberly is an executive director in Oracle’s Global Industry
Solutions Group. She is a sought-after speaker and business
development executive who works in the cross section of
legislation and policies, business drivers and challenges, and
the technologies that can reduce overhead costs and improve
process effectiveness.
In this capacity, Kimberly develops and executes strategies on Cloud, Big Data,
Security, Fraud Prevention/Detection, Customer Experience and Modernization.
Previously Kimberly served as the Global Practice team leader for Health and Human
Services and worked with the teams in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific
and Latin America. Prior to Oracle, Kimberly’s work experience includes NASA
Goddard Space Flight Center, Motorola, KPMG, and Prince George’s County, MD,
where she served as the chief information technology officer.
Her credentials include CPA, an Information Systems Management/Technical Writing
undergraduate degree from the University o f Maryland Baltimore County, an MBA
from Loyola University and a Master of Science in Information Technology as well
as a Chief Information Officer Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University. Kimberly
also holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant and Certified Information
Systems designations.
Kimberly is also a past chair of the Maryland Association of CPAs and has served on
many committees including New Young Professional and Tomorrow’s CPA.
Currently, Kimberly is a member of the AICPA Board of Directors. She is honored to
be the AICPA vice chair nominee for 2015–2016.
Kimberly also serves as president of a community service organization — Sigma
Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. – Anne Arundel County, MD. She is married to her college
sweetheart, Darius Taylor Sr., and they have two boys, Darius II and Dominic.

BRIAN SOMMER, MBA
Founder and President, Vital Analysis
For over 30 years, Brian has been advising the world’s largest
firms on strategy, change, process and technology initiatives.
Brian assisted over 100 of the Fortune 500 on financial software
selections and continues to advise a wide array of high
technology firms globally.
Brian was a senior partner at Accenture with leadership roles
in their Software Intelligence, Human Capital and Finance &
Performance Management groups. Brian led global finance & HR shared services
projects for companies like Novartis, Tenneco, BOC (British Oxygen Corp.) and others.
He was a quality assurance partner on large PeopleSoft projects globally. And, he’s led
dozens of ERP software selections at companies like McDonnell Douglas, Alcoa and
Boise Cascade. Recently, Brian led a global payroll shared services project for a major
home products firm.
Brian:
• Testified before US Treasury Department’s Pathways Commission re: future of
accounting profession
• Winner of Software Advice’s 2011 Authority Award – ERP Expert, 12/29/2011
• Winner of a 2014 ERP Writers’ Award
• Published over 600 articles on the technology space
• Keynoted three times at the American Accounting Association’s Transformative
Technologies group as well as the national AICPA conference
• Holds the VP-Practice role (volunteer) with the American Accounting
Association’s Strategic Enabling Technologies team
• Keynoted numerous financial accounting software conferences including events
for NetSuite, PeopleSoft, Sage and many more
Brian served as a member of the IHRIM.link Advisory Board for several years. He was
also a guest editor for this publication and continues to contribute to other IHRIM
publications like Workforce Management magazine. Brian was also part of the editorial
advisory board for The Review of Accounting Information Systems for several years.
Brian covers the Finance, HR, ERP and professional services spaces for ZDNET and
Diginomica. He has also written on business value and ROI for prestigious publications
like Optimize, Wall Street Journal Europe, etc.
Brian is frequently sought after for sensitive ERP-related initiatives including a
massive ERP litigation project, antitrust consultation, ERP contract negotiations and
consultancy/software vendor alliance assistance. Many of Brian’s more recent clients
have included notable technology & consulting firms such as SAP, Intel, Accenture,
Workday, Progress Software and Deloitte.
Brian is a frequent guest lecturer at major university MBA programs including Harvard
Graduate School, Wharton School of Business and Arizona State University.
Brian has a Business Bachelor of Arts, Marketing, University of Texas at Austin and a
Masters of Business Administration, Finance, University of Texas at Austin.

Shades of Gray is a series of ethical scenarios that are used to
encourage participants to consider the impact of their decisions
on others. Organized as a group game activity, the scenarios
are designed to also help participants recognize ethical issues
and measure their ethical influence on a group. The Shades
of Gray activities are accompanied by a presentation that
highlights the obstacles individuals face when assessing the
risks that accompany decisions with ethical dimensions while
peer pressure may exist. What would you do if your supervisor
