PERMIAN BASIN REHABILITATION CENTER
Our mission is to make life better for our patients, their families, and our
community by providing high quality and compassionate therapy services.
Our vision is to be the Permian Basin’s first choice for outpatient therapy
services.
Chairman’s Message - Rodney Hurt
The Permian Basin Rehab Center is an integral
part of our community and has been for many
years. The reason our organization continues
to remain strong and fulfill our mission is the
Center provides a much needed and worthwhile service in our community. We have highly qualified, talented, and dedicated therapists
offering physical, speech and occupational therapies as well as audiological services. Very few
outpatient clinics offer all four disciplines under one roof.
The Center is guided by a 35 member board of
directors who are dedicated and generous in
their time and resources. Our fundraisers are
well established and provide attractive ways for
the members of the community to donate to
our non-profit charitable organization. We are
challenged to maintain a strong funding base as
insurance providers continue to cut back in
reimbursements for medical services.
We pride ourselves in having a large percentage
of pediatric patients who are the future of our
community. Many of our patients only receive
much needed therapy because of the existence
of our lighthouse of hope at the corner of 7th
and Alleghaney. We thank you for your support

2015 Annual Report
Since 1953 the Permian Basin Rehabilitation
Center has met the rehabilitative needs of our
patients by providing high quality and compassionate therapy services. During 2015, we treated
1,764 unique patients representing an increase of
29.8% over the 1,359 patients we treated during
2014. Similarly the total number of treatment
sessions we provided grew by 9.0% during 2015.
Increasing demand for our services is the
result of growth in population combined with the
fact that other therapy providers are leaving the
market due to the adverse effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Our core values are: Integrity – we act with integrity and honesty by doing the right thing at all times, even when no one is watching. Excellence –
we provide high quality services and strive to be the best in everything that
we do. Compassion – we demonstrate our compassion for others by living
The Golden Rule. Accountability – we acknowledge ownership and accountability for our actions and accept responsibility for their consequences
without exceptions or excuses. Dedication- we are committed to meeting to
our patients’ needs to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Reimbursement amounts paid by insurance companies and Medicaid have decreased almost 40% since 2012 and are insufficient to
cover the cost of providing life improving therapy services. This situation results in more patients than ever seeking the PBRC’s services.
Each life improving therapy session that we provide is only possible due to the PBRC’s generous donors who stand in the gap allowing
us continue to make life better for our patients, their families and our community. Thank you so much!

FUNDRAISINGS
PBRC is a not-for-profit organization.
In 2015, we had two major events for
fundraising: Telethon in the spring and
Steakout in the fall.
Clinic
In spite of low staffing levels during the second and third quarters of 2015, the clinic was able to provide 2,019 more therapy
sessions to our patients in 2015 than in 2014. By the end of the
year, staffing levels had returned to near normal and the clinic
was in a position to begin growing. The physical therapy department grew to 6 therapists and the speech therapy department began using speech therapist assistants to enable us to serve more patients.
Although the clinic faced many challenges in 2015, the clinic staff continued to
focus on providing high quality, individual therapy services to our patients. We
continued to offer both the cleft palate clinic and developmental clinic to meet
the needs of families in our community. The therapy staff worked tirelessly to
help our patients achieve their goals and provide hope to our patients and their
families. As a result, we were able to help patients speak their first word, take
their first step, stand up independently for the first time in years and increase
their independence.
FINANCES
PBRC revenue in 2015 was $3,230,552;
41% ($1,327,456) of this revenue was
generated by donor base. More than
$300,000 was given to our patient AP
(Assistant Program). In addition, more
than $200,000 was used on patients for
services not covered by insurance companies. This would not be possible without
your support.
The clinic staff continued to focus on training and education in 2015. Therapists attended training in autism, kinesiotaping, feeding therapy and voice therapy. In addition, the therapy team provided training and education to more
than 12 students pursuing therapy careers. Our staff of therapists was able to
provide more than 2,000 hours of observation, education and supervision to
future therapists.
As we look forward to 2016, we will continue to grow the scope of services
offered at the Rehab Center by enhancing our feeding program and implementing a lymphedema treatment program. The clinic staff remains fully committed
to the mission of the Rehab Center. We are excited for the year to come as we
work alongside our patients, their families, the board and our generous donors
to make the lives of our patients and their families better.

Development and Marketing
The Permian Basin Rehab Center experienced a phenomenal year in our fundraising efforts during 2015. Over
$1,327,456.00 was raised with the Great American Steakout, our 2015 Telethon, and other fundraising events. The
success of our year was due to the continued generous support of the community, a hard working board of directors,
and the dedicated therapists and staff. Our annual Telethon was hosted by CBS7 on April 18th & 19th. We are very
appreciative to John Bushman, Barry Marks, Jose Gaona, and the great team at CBS7. The dedicated team of anchors, production team,
board, staff, and all the volunteers helped make the Telethon successful. Making Dreams Come True was the theme of Telethon 2015.
Diana Venegas, our 2015 Patient Representative, shared her story of inspiration, determination and hope. Fellow patients, Annabell, John
Hunter, and JJ joined Diana during the Telethon sharing their stories of small and large victories. Our patients and their families motivate
us to continue to be the best outpatient rehab facility.
Tatum Hubbard was instrumental in organizing a new fundraiser for the Permian Basin Rehab Center. Tatum and the Odessa Extreme
Athletes did a show in March highlighting their cheer and dance teams. The purpose of this evening of talent was to raise money for the
PBRC. At the end of the evening more than $38,000 was donated. Rodney Hurt along with Tatum did a fantastic job hosting the OEA
filming.
The Great American Steakout, “Grilligan’s Island” was a great success at La Hacienda. This new location and Homer Daniels as the
Steakout Chairman proved to be a great combination. Our guests enjoyed the incredible music of In10City, delicious appetizers, and fantastic steaks donated by the Bobby Cox Companies and cooked to perfection by our cooking teams. The live auction led by our good
friends Jay Hendricks and Tatum Hubbard was very successful. Thank you to the PBRC board members and staff who did a great job with
the set-up; table sales, silent auction donations, and decorating. Special thanks to Lorri Brunson, Rodney Hurt, D.R. Nichols, Phyllis
Thane, Sherry Garcia, Julie Garrett and Daniel Bright. Thank you to all that participated and made this year’s Steakout a success.
The Helping Hands Campaign by the McAlister’s Restaurants and the Kent Companies was a huge accomplishment. Larry Lee and his
McAlister’s Restaurants raised $70,190. Terry Adkisson and the Kent Companies donated $80,008 for the Center. This truly is an amazing
campaign and we appreciate McAlister’s and the Kent Companies.
The Pilot Club of Odessa annual Christmas Tree has been a generous supporter of the Rehab Center for over 28 years. This year with the
help of the City of Odessa, The Pilot Club, and the Rehab Center the tree location was moved to Optimist Park located at East Everglade
and Grandview. The CCT and the Pilot club donated $15,485.00 to the Center.
Our Annual Christmas Carnival was a great success with the generous donation and sponsorship from David Arrington Oil and Gas. Kenny Copeland with Market Street donated hotdogs, chips, and cookies for our patients and their families to enjoy. The Crystal Ball Debs,
Escorts, Pages, and Princesses volunteered their time and helped at the Carnival. Over 500 patients and their families enjoyed games,
food, and getting their pictures made with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, Buddy the Elf, Cindy Lou Who, Anna and Olaf, and Snoopy.

Chance Cerda joined the Development Team in December as Development Coordinator. A graduate of Tarleton State in Business Management he brings enthusiasm and a love of non-profits to the Center. The Development Team is excited about the future. We continue
to market to businesses, physicians, and donors.
My goal is to continue to share the message of the wonderful things that happen at the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center. Thank you
to the Board of Directors, Donors, and the PBRC staff for all the support and encouragement that I continue to receive.
