Mary`s Marketplace - Anchorage Alaska Real Estate
April 2015 Mary’s Marketplace Direct: 907.257.0112 Hello Everyone! It’s that time again. You know, the annual Client Appreciation Party! We usually plan it for the middle of spring, which we all know comes right after winter. However, as we all know there was no winter this year in Anchorage, just a late fall and early spring. But you know, we here at the Mary Cox Team send out a calendar every year and that’s what we go by, thank goodness. So we ask that you all mark your calendar for Thursday May 7th 2015 from 5:30-7:30pm right here in the multipurpose room on the Secord floor of the Remax/Dynamic building 3350 Midtown Place. An R.S.V.P. would be great as we can gauge the amount of food to have on hand. So please let us know if we can expect to see you here on May 7th… Julia is leaving the team to have her baby. We all wish her the best and look forward to the days she brings the little guy by for a visit. We welcome Alyssa Wilkerson as the new transaction coordinator. Alyssa is a life-long Alaskan, a graduate of Dimond High and obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business Management from UAA. She is also a new mother: of a new puppy of which she now has two. Most important perhaps is that Alyssa is a homeowner. Two years ago she bought her own place when she was learning the business of mortgage title at Alaska USA Title Agency, LLC where she excelled: and now we are lucky to have her on OUR team. Having been through the process herself, Alyssa will be open and understanding of the “speed bumps” we all encounter in the home buying process. So, welcome Alyssa. Don’t forget now. If you can make it Thursday April 7th 5:30-7:30pm I would love to see you. Dave and Lester will also be around as well. Until then, Take Care RE/MAX Dynamic Properties, Inc. 3350 Midtown Place, Anchorage, Ak 99503 www.HomesInAlaska.com • [email protected] Swing into Spring Chicken & Artichoke Pasta 8 Simple Decorating Rules Ingredients 4 cups uncooked bow tie pasta 1 pound chicken tenderloins, cut into 1-inch pieces 2 tablesspoons olive oil, divided 1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms 1/2 cup chopped green onions 2 tablespoons chicken broth 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes with roasted garlic, undrained 1 can (14 ounces) water-packed quartered artichoke hearts, rinsed and drained 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons cornstarch 2 teaspoons cold water 1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 cup shaved Parmesan cheese 1. A spot to sit + mirror + table = instant “finished” foyer. 2. The ideal coffee table is 2/3 as wide as teh sofa and a couple of inches lower than the seats (typically 14 to 16 inches high). 3. Mount a mirror opposite a window. It’s the best way to bounce light around the room and create the illusion of a bigger room. 4. A rug should never float in the middle of a floor. Place it under at least the front feet of a chair, a couch, or a bed to anchor it. 5. Think in threes. Similar-sized accessories on a shelf or a table look better grouped in odd numbers. Even amounts can feel too uniform and stiff. 6. Palette math: Choose one color for 60 percent of the room, a second color for 30 percent, and a third color that’s brighter than the others for the remaining 10 percent. 7. You’ll never mess up pattern mixing if you combine bold largescale prints with subtle, smaller-scale prints in complimentary colors. 8. Throw-pillow math: two 20-inch square pillows in a matching bold pattern, one on each end of the sofa; two 16-inch pillows in a coordinating solid color, overlapping the square pillows; and one lumbar with a subtle pattern (like a pinstripe) in the middle. Directions 1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute chicken in 1 tablespoon olive oil until no longer pink. Remove and keep warm. 2. In the same skillet, saute mushrooms and onions in remaining oil until tender; add broth, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in the tomatoes, artichokes, salt, and chicken. Cook and stir for 4-5 minutes or until heated through. 3. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually stir into pan. Bring to boil; cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened. Stir in basil. Drain pasta; serve with chicken micture and cheese. Mary’s Sports Corner What an amazing season! There are still three great tournaments that lay ahead. “Fools on Ice” and “Labatts” are for the Women and “Over the Chill” is a Co-ed tournament in Wasilla. We are currently figuring out the run schedule and will keep you posted. Lets put a “Spring” in our skate! The Boys & The Bea Shadow: It’s that time again. This is just the dogs reminder of the Client Appreciation Party coming up May 7, 2015 from 5:30 until 7:30 at the RE/MAX Dynamic Properties building located at 3350 Midtown Place. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the concept (big word for a doggie :) ) allow me to assist. The Party is Mom’s way of thanking her clients for working with or just staying in touch, with her. It used to be at our house (which is when everyone got to see me and the gang) but it got too much so they moved it to accommodate more of you folks that wanted to come. Rudy: Mom also makes it between 5:30-7:30 so you all can get home for dinner (which by the way is VERY important) at a reasonable hour. They have food at the Party but it’s not quite dinner. “Finger food” I’ve heard it called, which I assume is not unlike “Paw” food but probably more enticing (my own BIG word :) ) Roxy Kovu: Buenos Dias! This is to remind everyone that the Party is after Cinco de Mayo which may mean “pass the five mayonnaises” whatever that may mean. Anyway, Mom realizes many clients do celebrate that day, so we choose another one. Now that may mean two parties in one week… Sara: And one can have too many parties, but if there’s Kibble present, then all bets are off. We party all day because dad says we are “the party dogs” Actually he sings it which tends to dampen the mood but we know what he means. Nook: I have never been. I’ve just seen it on Facebook even though I don’t know what Facebook even is. All my bird friends that used to eat my food out of my bowl are on Twitter which would make sense for birds. I think there is a Dog book. If anyone knows please let my mom know. Scooter: I’m with Kovu. No more parties at the house. I need my sleep. I do wear myself out being up four hours every day. But I can listen to the party on the radio, so that would be fine. I am by the way, very cute and you will all miss seeing me. Especially the wee humans, but have fun anyway. Roxy: and please, don’t forget to RSVP to the office. Mom doesn’t want any leftover food. Actually, that leftover food idea sounds pretty good :) Awww…but please help with the headcount and let us know you’re coming. Mom would love to see you. Oh, and you will get to meet the new human, Alyssa, along with the old humans Dave and Lester.
