Run 2 miles, cycle 10 miles, run 2 miles!
This event is co-sponsored by the
Bethlehem area YMCA and Bethlehem
Parks & Recreation Department. For

Registration is ongoing and is limited to
300 registrants.
Thursdays in the Park
Bring a picnic, blanket and join us on Thursday
evenings at Elm Avenue Park for some live
children’s entertainment. All shows begin at
7pm on the special events lawn (adjacent to
the pool entrance). In case of rain,
performances will be relocated to the large
pavilion at the back of the park.

Dive-In Movie
Friday, August 5
Join us for a late night swim and movie
under the stars on the big screen. The
movie will start at 8:15pm. Sorry, no floats
allowed in the pools. Free admission after
7pm.
This summer you can help pick the Dive-in
Movie! Simply vote for your favorite out
of a choice of 5 movie candidates, which
will be posted in the pool lobby. Voting
will take place at the Elm Avenue Park
pool, beginning June 8, opening day.
Pool patrons can vote everyday, once a
day until July 17.

Residency Requirements

Special Notes:
The pool complex is open to Town of Bethlehem residents and their guests.

Non-resident guests must be accompanied by a resident with a valid pool pass.

Bethlehem Central School District residents who do not live in the Town of 
Bethlehem may obtain a special Pay-As-You-Go pass and pay guest rates.
Bethlehem Central School District tax bill is required to obtain pass.
At times throughout the summer,
sections of the pools may be closed
due to staff limitations.

Weekdays from June 27-August 5,
only a small section of the L-shaped
pool will be open from 11am to
12:05pm and the Diving pool will
open at 12:00pm.

From August 13-September 5 the
pool complex will be open
11:30am-7:30pm, Monday-Friday
and
11am-7pm on Saturday &
Sunday & holidays.

Children under age 9 must be
accompanied by someone age 14
and older.

Party Reservations at the Pool
Town of Bethlehem residents with a valid pool pass may reserve the “arts & crafts” shelter and surrounding
grass area near Splash Islands for parties according to the following schedule:
Monday-Friday 4pm-close (12noon-3pm available beginning August 8)
Saturday or Sunday 12noon-3pm OR 4pm-close


The fee is $125 and includes one of the above blocks of time and admission for up to 20 party
attendees (wristbands will be provided). Additional guests are $4.00 each. You will also receive a shout
out on the pool PA system and a white board greeting. A wagon will be available to transport your
party supplies from your car to the pool area. For further information, visit the Parks & Recreation
Department website (www.townofbethlehem.org).

Pool Passes
REMEMBER: You can renew/obtain your pool pass right at the pool! We do, however,
strongly recommend renewing passes early to avoid waiting in line on hot days.
All residents age 5 & older must have a pool pass with a bar code to enter pool complex.

If you have a pass, don’t throw it away!! You can renew it...here’s how:

Activities are open to anyone
regardless of residency! So

meet every week due to

Aquatic Activities
ACTIVITY NOTES & GUIDELINES:





All children must be the age specified by the first scheduled lesson.
Please bring your ARC Learn to Swim card from previous year. This will help with skill level placement.
All lessons are held rain or shine at the Elm Avenue Park Pool. During inclement weather, the class will
meet, but may not swim. (Will not meet July 4)
Register for any number of sessions.
During early morning lessons, the pool complex will close at 10:40am and will reopen at 11:00am.
Town residents who participate in aquatic activities after 11:00am must leave their updated pool
pass at the front desk prior to the start of class and must pick up their pass within 1/2 hour after
their class ends.
Non-residents (NR) who participate in aquatic activities after 11:00am must leave their Driver’s
License at the prior to the start of class and must pick up their Driver’s License within 1/2 hour after
their class ends.

Our experienced staff offers small group instruction.
Skills are taught based on levels established by the
American Red Cross. Your child will learn new aquatic
skills and refine/reinforce skills that they may already
possess, all while maintaining a fun and enjoyable
experience! On the first day meet along the Splash
Islands fence.

Individual instruction for beginners, a great way to
learn! Various swimming skills will be taught based on
your child’s ability and comfort level in the water.
When registering, please indicate anything we should
know about your child that would help us pair him/her
with an instructor. Class meets at the gazebo.
The last day of each session will be “Show Off
Day”. This long standing activity tradition gives
your child the opportunity to “show off” their
accomplishments to parents and friends.

Must be able to swim to the ladder in the diving pool. Participant will
learn basic springboard diving skills on the 1 meter board working toward
moving skills to the 3 meter board. Goal: Be able to dive off the 1 meter
board by the end of the session. Intermediate and advanced diving will
tailor lessons to their skill set with goal to learn back dives, twisters and
flips from 3 meter board.

The 3-4 year old camp is designed to introduce children to 9 different
sports, while focusing on age-approriate areas of motor development.
Children will learn the basic fundamentals and mechanics of Baseball,
Basketball, Football, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis and
Volleyball. Will also focus on the 7 key areas of motor-development
through games, obstacle courses and other fun fitness activities! By
introducing kids to a variety of sports and physical activities at a young
age, they have a greater chance of finding a few things they like.
The 5-8 year old camp delivers the same 9 sports. Acitivities will
incorporate exercises for gross motor development, hand-eye
coordination, cardio-vascular fitness, speed and agility and stretching

Meet at Albany’s Normanskill Farm Park parking lot, for a walk along
the yellow brick road and over the Normans Kill to the hamlet of
Normansville. Look at the historic Whipple bridge, the remains of

Hinkel’s Hotel enjoyed a sandy beach and boat rides. The route
includes unpaved trails as well as Rockefeller Road. Finish with a stop
at the Education Center.

Meet at the Henry Hudson Park Boat Launch.
Learn about
Bethlehem’s historic river connections from the unique perspective of
actually being on the water. Experience the historic Nicoll-Sill House,
Winne’s dock, Parda Hook, and if the creek is passable, the waterfall
on the Vlomankill.
Participants MUST bring all of their own gear,
including personal flotation device, and be proficient paddlers. Ms.
Leath will provide the history info, but is not a boating instructor. High

sidewalks with one steep hill up from Willowbrook Avenue to Bridge

**Complete Section II to enroll household members in activities.

Activity dates and other pertinent information will be included on
your receipt/confirmation.

If you are enrolled in your 2nd choice, you will not be put on the
wait list for your 1st choice.

For activity cancellation, refund and waitlist policy, see page 10.

place in the drop box located near the front door of the Park
office building.
