Notes from Beth…Welcome SPRING!!
What a snowy, cold winter! It seems like it will
never end; but as I write this newsletter I am
delighted to inform you Daylight Saving Time
begins on March 9th, and even better, Spring
begins on March 20th! How is that for good
news. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I
hope you have stayed safe, warm and healthy
this winter.

Friday, January 31st we traveled to the Schauer
Arts & Activities Center in Hartford. We were
fortunate on two fronts: First, President Scott Huedepohl and his wife Andrea
accompanied us and second, the day was partly sunny and about 17* above
zero. Our buffet style meal was plentiful and delicious. The Church Basement
Ladies musical comedy “A Mighty Fortress is Our Basement” was hilarious! Many
of us were brought to tears we laughed so hard. Kathleen Christiansen should
have been with us as her name was chosen to win the traveling jackpot. Thank
you Scott and Andrea for helping me escort. The Schauer Center is definitely a
place we will visit again.

Thursday, February 20th we drove to the Fireside for “Solid Gold 60’s,” the big
band revue featuring Club favorite Steven Watts at the keyboard. The lively
music and comedy provided an afternoon of fun for all. As always, our luncheon
was scrumptious. Everyone who went enjoyed the day. A big thank you to Carol
Mueller who helped escort the group. It was wonderful to see you again, Carol.
You are missed!

Community State Bank was recently
announced as a winner of the
2013 Wisconsin Financial Literacy
Award. The award is presented
by the Governor’s Council on
Financial Literacy, and the Wisconsin
Department of Financial Instruction.
The Bank won the award for their innovative and creative MyLIFE program
(My Local Interactive Financial Education). The program was developed in
partnership between Community State Bank and Union Grove Union High
School.
MyLIFE is an interactive program for students designed to demonstrate
the importance of sound money management skills. It’s a unique learning
experience for the students, and an opportunity to promote a partnership
between the local business community and the High School.
is open to members and non-members.
*There is no obligation if you attend.
Recipients of the 2013 Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award were selected
from 52 nominations submitted for consideration. The criteria used in the
screening process included innovative implementation, demonstration of
measurable results, collaboration with partners, and whether the effort
was focused on needs-based groups. Community State Bank was the only
bank in Wisconsin to win the award.

They are truly making a difference in communities across the state.”
The Bank was honored at a ceremony hosted by Governor Walker at the
Capitol on Feb. 26, 2014.
2013 Chamber Choice Award
Community State Bank has also been awarded the 2013 Chamber
Choice award by the Greater Union Grove Area Chamber of Commerce
(UGACC).
Wednesday, May 7th, 2014 - Fireside Theatre
Arguably the greatest musical ever written and certainly one of the most
popular shows in Fireside history, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF makes a
triumphant return to the Fireside stage. This classic show held the title as
Broadway’s longest running musical for over twenty years. It is a heartwarming story featuring one of Broadway’s most beautiful musical scores.
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF opened on Broadway the same year that The
Fireside first opened its doors and to celebrate this dual anniversary, back
by popular demand, Artistic Director Ed Flesch will return to the leading
role with which he has long been associated. You won’t want to miss this
Fireside “Tradition!”

The Chamber Choice award is presented each year to an area member
business that demonstrates leadership, is dedicated to their employees
and customer service, and exemplifies community commitment.
“Chamber Choice award winners lead by example,” said Greater
Union Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Director Jennifer Ditscheit.
“Community State Bank has a proven track record as a dedicated
business leader for many years in Union Grove. They dedicate their time,
effort, knowledge and financial resources to help the entire community.”
Award winners are selected by a ballot initiative by chamber members at
the end of each year. Current chamber members nominate eligible area
businesses, and those nominations are then voted upon by all of the
Greater UGACC members.
“We’re very honored to win this award,” said Community State Bank AVP
Marketing Jeff Nielsen. “The Chamber’s goals and ours are in some ways
very similar. We’re both passionate and dedicated to engaging with and
building the communities we serve.”

The Butler tells the remarkable
story of White House butler Eugene
Allen (played by Oscar-winner
Forest Whitaker) who served
eight U.S. presidents
over the course of 30
years. The film traces
the dramatic changes that swept
American society during this time, from
the civil rights movement to Vietnam and
beyond and how those changes affected
this man’s life and family. Oprah Winfrey stars
as his wife Gloria. Also stars Cuba Gooding,
Jr., Robin Williams, and Jane Fonda.
Doors open at 9 a.m. with refreshments
served. Movie starts at 9:30 a.m

Wednesday, March 26th we will have a travel presentation for a fall motor
coach trip out East. We will visit many interesting sights in New York,
Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. We
will see covered bridges, have a narrated tour of Kennebunkport as well as
Portland, enjoy a lobster dinner, attend the Bourne Scallop Fest in Cape
Cod, and much, much more. I hope I have piqued your interest. Come
let Val Courter of Travel Networking Partners fill in all the details of this trip
scheduled September 12th – 23rd. See you at the 2 p.m. presentation on
March 26th.
With April just around the corner, I wish you each a blessed Easter on
Sunday, April 20th. Thursday, April 24th Harvest Club is venturing to
Madison to attend the “U.W. Varsity Band Spring Concert.” The evening
performance is guaranteed to be lively entertainment, featuring a full
theatrical production complete with pyrotechnics. Dinner is included
at the Essen Haus. The price includes round trip deluxe motor coach
accommodations, dinner, concert, and all gratuities, including the
driver’s. This event is open to non-members as well as members. If you
haven’t signed up yet, please do so today. It is an event you will want to
experience.
Wednesday, May 7th we will travel to The Fireside for a performance of
“Fiddler on the Roof.” This timeless classic is one of the Fireside’s most
popular shows. I had many members request that I book it. Interestingly
“Fiddler on the Roof” opened on Broadway the same year that The Fireside
first opened its doors, so both are celebrating 50 years! Sign up to see
Director Ed Flesch return as Tevye, the long suffering dairyman who
struggles to find a balance between his traditions and his family.
Here’s a friendly reminder: In addition to Club events, there are other
benefits to being a Harvest Club member. For example, memberships
includes free checking and check printing. You receive 200 Specialty Mint
wallet-style checks free per order. (Limit one box per order) If you order
any other style you will be given a $4.00 discount. Be sure to mention that
you are a Harvest Club member when you turn in your check order so you
can take advantage of this benefit. It’s that easy! Like I always say, “It
pays to be a Harvest Club member!”
THURSDAY, APRIL 24TH, 2014
On March 21, 1975, Professor Michael Leckrone created a monster…
the UW Varsity Band’s Annual Spring Concert! On that day before an
unexpectedly large audience of about 450 family, friends and fans the
UW Band got everyone together to put on one final performance for the
year. No one would have guessed that the concert performed that night
would turn into what it is today! The UW’s 2 ½ hour Varsity Band’s Spring
Concert is a full theatrical production complete with pyrotechnics. “It’s a lot
of 5th quarter, the audience loves to do the chicken dance,” says Professor
and Band Director Mike Leckrone. Dinner is included at the Essen Haus.
Price includes round trip deluxe motor coach accommodations, dinner,
concert, and all gratuities, including the driver’s.
