TORNADO EFFORTS - Fountain Lake and Jessieville School Districts came together to supply relief items to
Mayflower Middle School after the tornadoes struck on April 27. Darin Beckwith, Fountain Lake Superintendent and
Andy Curry, Jessieville Superintendent, set up this event to put both rival schools together. The Fountain Lake High
School Interact Club acted as a tool to pull in donated items for relief. Large contributors included: Teeter Motors,
Sonic, Village Yogurt, Wagon Wheel Veterinary Clinic, Millcreek Baptist Church, and Hot Springs Village Dentistry,
along with many other individuals. Tracy Simpson, with KVRE radio station, was also instrumental in spreading the
information to both communities. Fountain Lake High School teacher and Interact Club Sponsor, Lynn Janaskie took
five of their Interact Club members including upcoming club president Abby Rose, and vice president Sarah Rountree,
Sarah Gilleran, Lexie Hayes, and Austin Rhodes. Jessieville also sent four students: Ronnie Anderson, Josh Mitchell,
Johnny Chambers, and Clint McNeely. These students helped unload items when they arrived at Mayflower Middle
School. The transportation was coordinated by Fountain Lake Director of Transportation, Keith Baker. The two schools
met and rode a Jessieville school bus to Mayflower. Fountain Lake transported the donated items using the Fountain
Lake football van and Cobra band van. The school bus was driven by Stephen Wright, former Jessieville Principal, and
the vans were driven by Joel Bryant and Matt Walls. (Venom staffer Dylan Kinkade)
