2013–2014 Vocational Service
• Held 2 fellowship luncheons and highlighted 14 member organizations
in November and April.
• Selected the “Rotarian of the Year” Award.
• Annual Vocational Service Awards recognized the Springfield Teacher
of the Year and outstanding law enforcement and public service
personnel from the Springfield Police Department, Springfield Fire
Department, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
• Held a program on the Four-Way Test that highlighted ethics.
• Updated and published membership directory.

2013–2014 Club Service
• Received the Rotary International Presidential Citation Award with
Distinction.
• Held the Shrimp Feed, our annual club assembly.
• Introduced 15 new members and ended the year with 229 members.
• Presented 3 Lend-a-Hand Awards to deserving members.
• Held several fellowship events, including a holiday party, golf
tournament, and a float trip.
• The GYM committee hosted 5 fellowship events, one in conjunction
with the Special Olympics basketball tournament and another with
Rotaract members.
• Held monthly new member lunches to better acclimate new members
into the club.
• Continued a public relations campaign with local television stations
featuring the “Rotary in Motion” public service announcements.
• Provided weekly speakers and programs to engage, educate, and
entertain our members. Included a family-friendly luncheon featuring
local jazz musicians.
• Cosponsored, along with the other Springfield Rotary Clubs, a joint
luncheon on May 14. The speaker was Hal Donaldson, cofounder of
Convoy of Hope.
• Family of Rotary Committee hosted two table mixers to encourage
members to interact and get to know one another better.

2013–2014 Community Service
• Provided leadership for the 15th annual Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival,
which will net an estimated $160,000 to benefit 7 Springfield area
children’s charities, bringing the 15 year total donations to $1,467,250.
• Cosponsored the 27th annual Rotary Basketball Tournament and
raised $13,889 for Special Olympics.
• Members participated in the 19th annual Miracle of Giving blood drive,
with 69 members participating.
• Community Grants awarded $10,000 to the following projects: SUAC
Dirt Project, $1,100; Crosslines, $1,050; Springfield Regional Opera,
$1,000; The Smile Center, $1,000; Arc of the Ozarks, $1,000; Ozarks
Food Harvest, $1,000; Doula Foundation, $1,000; OTC Foundation,
$950; Down Syndrome Group, $750; Family Matters, $500; Missouri
Autism Report, $500; Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, $250; and
Lutheran Family & Children Services, $200.
• Don’t Meth With Us Committee made/sponsored presentations to 53
different schools, reaching 2,000 fifth graders, 2,000 seventh graders,
and 8,000 high school students.
• K-Park Committee applied for and received a Rotary District Simplified
Grant for $1,000 to be used toward the purchase of picnic tables.
• Launched the Hands-On Projects Committee to provide opportunities
for members to become involved in local projects. Adopted The
Kitchen’s Rare Breed youth service program for several projects.
2013–2014 New Generations
• Sponsored 2 high school students to attend the Rotary Youth
Leadership Awards (RYLA) Academy at William Woods University in
Fulton, Missouri.
• Hosted 31 student guests from 5 local public and 4 private high
schools to recognize their achievements and introduce them to
Rotary.
• Sponsored a member of the Rotaract Club of Springfield to attend
Interota 2014.
• Reinvigorated the Scholarship Committee to become aware of Rotary
scholarship opportunities and prepare our club to benefit in future
years.

2013–2014 International Service
• Increased the number of Paul Harris Fellows by 14 and PHF+
members by 29 for an all-time club total of 418.
• Gave $45,796 to the Rotary Foundation. Total all-time giving to the
Rotary Foundation was over $806,452. Achieved EREY status!
• Added one Benefactor to the Permanent Fund for a club total of 73.
• Disbursed $14,910 in World Community Service Grants to the
following projects: Indian Widow Project, Well Aware, Rotary Club of
Springfield Metro Water Project, Chocolate University, and Southeast
Rotary Twin Club Committee.
• Conducted a weekly raffle to benefit the PolioPlus Fund of the Rotary
Foundation. Total contributions were $3,655 from the raffle.
• Donated $2,697 from the Sergeant-At-Arms fines to the PolioPlus
Fund.
• Twin Club Committee received $1,000 from the budget and $2,860
from the WCS Raffle/Auction to help provide materials to begin to
build dining centers at 7 children’s centers in Tlaquepaque, Mexico, in
2014–2015.
