JD Micals was born in Oklahoma and
raised in a military family. He served in

has worked with include Johnny Russell, Charlie Walker, Del Reeves, Doug
Stone, Kitty Wells, Billy "Crash"
Craddock and Vern Gosdin to name a
few. After moving to Greenville, SC, JD started the Hollywood Starlight Show to feature the classic
country music not heard on today's commercial radio. In 2008, he partnered with Sheila Miles on
the radio show and together they formed Starlight Entertainment Promotions, Inc. They worked

Gene Watson, Leon Everette, Tracy Lawrence, Tracy Byrd, and Ritchie McDonald. In February
2012, JD signed with Pretty World Records. The first release was

single, “Me and Bobby McGee”, a duet with Heather Myles, made it
to #9.
While it was still in the charts, the third release “Burn That Bridge”
debuted at #42. It went on to be a #1 hit, staying in the charts for 26
weeks. The fourth release, another hit single, was a tribute to the late
George Jones. JD has just come off with another smash hit, “If It
Weren’t For Country Music I’d Go Crazy”, which topped the charts
at number 8. JD's latest hit is an old Jim Reeves song that JD and
Leona Williams have partnered up on entitled, "He'll Have To Go He'll Have To Stay".
Projects for 2014 include a compilation of rare Jim Reeves songs entitled “Studio B/The B Side”. The first release “ I Know One” is currently on the charts.

J.D. Micals Hits #1 on IndieWorld
with “Burn That Bridge” - www.JDMicals.com
BURNING MORE THAN JUST BRIDGES
by Donald M. Hart
Greenville, S.C. - donaldmhart.blogspot.com
J.D. Micals, a disc jockey that has introduced many new and up and coming country
artists to the world of traditional country music, is out there setting the country charts
on fire with his own style of traditional country music. In the past year, Micals has had
hits on the IndieWorld country charts, with his latest song “Burn That Bridge” reaching the number one spot this week.
Micals got his start in the music business as a writer in the 1980s and his first hit,
“Mom’s Old Wooden Chair”, which he wrote and recorded reached number 17. According to Micals, “this was just a fun little song that I sat down and wrote. I thought it
had a great hook.” Obviously he was right.
His second hit came in the form of a duet with Heather Myles of an old Kris Kristofferson song, “Me and Bobby McGee”. It reached number 9 on the IndieWorld Country
Charts. “I saw this song differently when I recorded it as a duet and I guess the people
liked it as well,” Micals said.
When “Me and Bobby McGee” reached number 9, Pretty World Records released
“Burn That Bridge” and it debuted at number 47. This made Micals the only artist with 2 records in the top 50 at the same time. “Burn
That Bridge” also debuted at the same time at 65 on the Country Music Weekly Charts.
Micals has a unique approach to recording. Being a writer, he visualizes the songs before he sits down to do the recording. This helps
him get a feel for the meaning behind the lyrics and enhances his ability to record in the traditional style of country music.
“I have been so blessed in many ways, said Micals. I thank Charlie Ammerman, CEO of Pretty World Records, who wrote “Burn That
Bridge”. It was a last minute addition to Micals’ new album “J.D. Friends and Memories”.
J.D. said, “I especially want to thank all the radio stations, program directors, and disc jockeys who have been kind enough to play my
music. Coming from the industry myself, I know they are inundated with material to play and giving this old cowboy a chance to have
his music heard is a blessing and I’m very grateful for them. I also want to thank all the fans of traditional country music who have
called and requested the songs and who keep the traditional sound alive.”
Micals album, “J.D. Friends and Memories”, which features “Burn That Bridge” is scheduled for release in the next couple of weeks. It
has a number of duets, with such artists as: Heather Myles, Leon Everette, Jan Howard, Narvel Felts, Billy Joe Royal, Johnny Lee, and
Leona Williams all who contribute to the finished project. According to Ammerman, this album has already had 2 hits and we are hoping for 2-3 more.

Jones Has Gone Home
“He said I’ll love you till I die ...
It was in Saratoga Texas, September 12, 1931,
That’s when this old world came to know
The man that we would all love,
A man they called George Jones ......”
These are the opening words of the recitation written by JD Micals two weeks before George Jones’
death. He personally knew George for many years. JD described to me in a recent phone conversation
that he was driving along and the words started to flow so he immediately got them to paper. Later he
went into the studio and laid the tracks. Little did he know that it would be used to celebrate George’s
life. This amazing tribute has been released to Radio Stations across the USA and is also posted on
YouTube and JD’s Facebook page. Oklahoma born JD Micals, residing in Reidville, South Carolina,
has always had a heart to keep the traditional Country music being heard. His signing with Pretty World Records two years ago has brought to the
airwaves songs that have stayed positioned on the Indy World Charts for well over a year, starting with Mom’s Old Wooden Chair reaching #17.
Then having the longest running single ever and staying number one the song called, Burn That
Bridge. Also a duo with Heather Myles, that has seen number nine, Me & Bobby McGee. (See
article in Country Entertainment USA Nashville Edition April 2013,

Soon to be released is the long awaited, JD’s Friends and Memories album, a collaboration of
duets with many greats like Leona Williams, Jan Howard, Leon Everett, Johnny Lee, Narvel
Felts, Billy Joe Royal, Heather Myles and more. JD is a busy, gifted, well established songwriter
who has had many of his songs recorded by the likes of Alabama, Vern Gosdin, Doug Stone,
Tracy Lawrence and several others. He is more likely to tell you that he is focused on the new
songs that he has in his ever growing portfolio, than to dwell on the ones from the past. But
don’t kid yourself.
These songs of the 80’ and early 90’s - the ones he doesn’t boast about - were songs you have
enjoyed over the years. Another special talent JD has is he is an exceptional DJ! When JD presents his Hollywood Starlight Show, via internet and am/fm radio, you are in for a very memorable time. You can expect to hear an old-style , fun-packed show, as he spins the Classics of Traditional Country. You can expect to hear some Western Swing or perhaps an entire show or two
dedicated to historical greats, like Marty Robbins, Ray Price or Faron Young. Many songs will
touch your heart and are guaranteed to bring back the memories. Sprinkled among antique radio commercials, comedy routines and more, you’ll
hear music from cross genres, featuring well-known artists like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra - even a Doo Wop song or two!! He will also play
theme songs of the old, dearly loved Western movies and, yes, those old TV shows too - all stirring up memories and emotions recalling simpler
days in our lives.
His shows are always done live and he has a lineup of ‘characters’ that visit him in the studio. You never know who will show up. It could be the
likes of Ol’ Road Hawg, Dean Martin, Cary Grant, even the Chipmunks, and many, many more!! What a delight to experience the many flavors of
JD’s imagination, contributing to the ‘never a dull moment’ atmosphere. JD has also had live interviews with numerous, well-known artists, including Claude Gray, Jean Shepard, and Jody Nix. He has archived rare treasures of interviews and shares memories of times in Nashville past, including many gems dear to his heart from friends and mentors, like Johnny Russell and George Jones. Thank you, JD, as no show is ever the same,
with one moment bringing a joyful tear and the next a hearty laugh. Can’t beat that!!!
If you miss the good ol’ fashioned, personable kind of advertising, well they are part of the show too! JD personally visits the people and gets to
know their product, which brings a lasting impact to the listeners. I have never been to Virgil Cannon’s Restaurant in Greer, South Carolina, but I
know they serve the Biggest and Tastiest Chicken Livers in the world. JD describes, to smallest
detail, their amazing Hamburgers. There really should be a warning before JD starts to do an
ad. When I hear him mention the word “Cannon’s” I’m overcome with an instant desire to have
a burger . . . or dare to try them livers!!!!
JD has a personable approach to the ways he contributes to keeping the traditional Country
music alive. Whether it is through his own radio show, songwriting, singing and recordings
with Pretty World Records, or through his personal recording studio, emceeing appearances,
and other special events as package shows, one thing is consistent. He has mastered the art of
keeping it real, touching the hearts and emotions of his listeners, then leaving great memories
behind. Country music is in good hands with JD Micals. JD has some great events coming up
in July 2013. From a family lineage of Marines and as a Marine, himself, he has the great privilege this July 4th to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA. JD
told me this is the greatest honor of his life and such a privilege. Later, on July 27th, JD along
with longtime friend Billy Joe Royal will be performing at the Wheeling Jamboree in West
Virginia. How can you hear or connect with JD? Check out JD’s website, www.jdmicals.com.
Several of his CD’s, and the song, Jones has Gone Home, are in his store. You can find many of his songs on YouTube. Please take time to check
them out. Make sure to also listen to Santa and the Soldier, as it will touch your heart. Drop by and say howdy to him on Facebook
