Media Contact: Brady Brim-DeForest [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: October 27, 2009 Silver Lake Art Crawl 2009 Over 25 Eastside Art Spaces Unite on November 7-8, 2009 LOS ANGELES — Now in its 12th year, the 2009 Silver Lake Art Crawl, expanded to include Echo Park, Los Feliz, and Atwater Village, will showcase Eastside art venues as they host the cream of the artistic community. On November 7th and 8th, 27 art spaces open their doors to display their latest works and showcase the creativity of over 100 participating artists, and more galleries are joining in this week. Known for incorporating traditional gallery spaces as well as other retail and art exhibition spaces, The Art Crawl will include independent toy stores, antiquities and oddities shops, graphic novel and comic stores, clothing stores, and boutiques that will showcase artwork from local and visiting artists. With a mix fine art, fashion, street art, toys, and graphic design, the Silver Lake Art Crawl offers a diverse selection of art experiences that reflect the neighborhoods’ unique aesthetics and attitudes. The Silver Lake Art Crawl will again be directed by Drew Baldwin who took the reigns two years ago from Billy Shire of La Luz de Jesus. “The Silver Lake Art Crawl will once again be a celebration of Silver Lake as an important center of artistic expression. The eclectic flavor of Silver Lake community and its surrounding neighborhoods deserves an outlet where it can be seen and appreciated. Our mission this year is to emphasize the rich, diverse art produced and displayed here through gallery exhibitions, special events, and other projects during SLAC 2009,” says Baldwin. The Silver Lake Art Crawl officially kicks off Saturday, November 7 with special events, openings, and exhibits throughout the weekend and an Official Celebration Sunday afternoon with a picnic from 1-4pm with music and art classes at the Hollyhock House sponsored by the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation. General hours for the art weekend are 11am-9pm Saturday, November 7th and 11am-9pm Sunday, November 8th, with some openings starting Friday evening and extended hours at certain venues for special events.
