COFFMAN FAMILY YMCA
A BRANCH OF THE YMCA OF GREATER DAYTON
PROGRAM GUIDE: MARCH-APRIL 2011
Dear YMCA Members:
Summer is right around the corner and will be here
before you know it. Here at the Coffman YMCA we
have been preparing for Summer 2011 since this
year’s school year began back in late August. The most exciting opportunity for kids to
take advantage of this summer is our all new Summer Day Camp Program. This year’s
Summer Day Camp will be the best ever as we are moving the location of our Summer Day
Camp out to Patricia Allyn Park, in Clearcreek Township, just a ten minute drive from the
Y!
Patricia Allyn Park is an incredible site to hold a Day Camp Program. The park has 200
total acres for kids to explore with our experienced staff. The amenities at the park are
incredible. Here are just a few of the areas that we will be using throughout the summer:
 Our own picnic area and shelter
 Acres of woods with a creek
 Two beautiful playgrounds
 Miles of walking trails
 8 soccer fields
 1 Mile Paved Walking Loop
 A sand volleyball court
 Disc Golf Course (9 baskets with 18 differ
ent tee boxes)
 Tennis courts
Transportation from the Coffman Y to and from Patricia Allen Park will be provided by a
YMCA School Bus which will allow us to continue to use the Coffman YMCA for Swimming
and to be able to stay at the Y on stormy days.
YMCA Day Camp is a place where we provide a safe environment for kids, fun activities
under the careful guidance of enthusiastic and caring staff and the opportunity for your
child to make new friends that can last a lifetime.
Should you have any questions about our Summer Day Camp program, please call Teresa Perry
at 937-886-9622 or e-mail her at
[email protected]. We would love to introduce you to our new and exciting Summer Day
Camp!!
Sincerely,
David Thompson

The YMCA of Greater Dayton does not turn any person away
due to the inability to pay. Financial assistance is available for
membership and programs. For financial assistance; stop by the
front desk and ask for Kacee Diemer or Sherie Bishop.
All membership and program scholarships are provided through
our annual Strong Kids Campaign.
Guest Pass Policy:
Members will receive three free guest passes per year, and
upon renewal of their membership, for use by friends and relatives. Additional guest passes may be obtained from branch
executives, if needed. A picture ID is required of the
guest. Each guest is limited to three visits in a 12 month
period. Youth guest passes must be purchased by an adult who
is remaining in the building.
YMCA MISSION
To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice
through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and
body for all.
Facility Age Guidelines
Please remember that children under the age of 10 must be
supervised by a parent or guardian (at least 16 years of age)
when in the YMCA facility. Youth of all ages are not permitted
to be left in the building over 3 hours each day. Some areas of
the facility may have different age guidelines or schedules, so
please ask the member services desk if you are unsure. We
thank you for your cooperation with these guidelines created to
help keep all of our members safe.
MEMBERSHIP ACCOUNT AND INCOME
VERIFICATION
Please remember that bi-annually you must submit verification of your annual gross household income. If you joined in
2009 you will re-verify income this year. We make all efforts
to send out reminders of this, but you must also make sure
that we receive this information on or before your anniversary date, every other year. Failure to do so may result in
your membership rates defaulting to the highest rate on our
scale.
Please make sure to notify the YMCA of any account changed
or updated credit card information. We need new information
for credit cards when the expiration date changes as well.
Please make sure that the YMCA always has your current address so that we may contact you.
Thank you for your cooperation in making our verification and
collection processes as smooth as possible.

PERSONAL TRAINING & WELLNESS
The Y encourages good health through fitness, sports and fun!
Need Fitness Help?
Fitness Orientations are available for all members. If you are
interested in learning how to use the cardio and weight equipment in the proper manner, please see the service desk. It is a
free 30 minute orientation to all of the equipment by our fitness counselor.
Children between 9-11 are required to sign up for
KID FIT to use the Fitness Center. Children under the
age of 9 are not permitted in the fitness center.
FITNESS EVALUATIONS: This service is conducted by a personal trainer or fitness counselor. It will encompass a complete
evaluation including: resting heart rate, resting blood pressure,
body composition, muscular endurance and strength, flexibility
and either a 3 minute step test or sub maximal cardiovascular
test. You should walk away with a complete report with the
results and with recommendations.
BODY FAT ASSESSMSENTS: Learn what percentage of your
total body weight is fat versus lean body weight. The scale can
be misleading. To assess body composition we do a three or
four site skin fold test to determine your body fat percentage.
KID FIT: Created as a fun way to get children between the ages
of 9-11 years old active. This program is designed to involve
physical activities that nurture mind, body and spirit. Each
youth will be evaluated with his/her parent to determine current
fitness level. A personalized program will be implemented from
the evaluation results.
KID FIT II: If your
child has completed
KID FIT or is between the ages of
12-15 years of age
looking for a more
challenging fitness
program, then this
is for them! KID FIT
II has the same
philosophy as KID
FIT but it takes you
to the next level of
fitness.
For more information see the member service desk.
Reminder to Members:
In an effort to insure that our YMCA provides a family friendly
environment for people of all ages, we ask that our members
and guest refrain from wearing “sports bras” or similar clothing
that reveals the mid-section, or that may otherwise be deemed
to be too revealing for our younger participants. In the event
that our staff feels that your attire is not within this expectation, you will be asked to change to more appropriate clothing. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
Personal Trainer:
Training sessions are conducted by a certified personal trainer. Various session packages are available. See member service desk or call Darlene Reid
at 937-886-2845
for more information.
NEW and IMPROVED PFP program
The Personalized Fitness Program is designed to help you achieve your goals regardless of your current fitness level. The
program will last up to 6 weeks and includes individual meetings with a fitness
counselor who will provide feedback and
follow-up for beginning your personalized
program. Your fitness counselor will gradually introduce you to the components of an
exercise program based on your individual
fitness goals.

Open to a wide range of swimming skills. Our program welcomes kids aged 6-18, with groups to accommodate all skill levels and desired interaction. Team activities begin in the Fall during the beginning of September and run
through to championships in early Spring (March).
The Crocs are coached by a group of well experienced
and dedicated individuals who focus not just on select skills in
the pool, but on qualities and skills to help swimmers both in
and out of the water. With our younger kids, coaches focus on
having fun, learning some thing new every day, and teaching
kids how to be great teammates for one another. As a swimmer’s experience and desire to compete increase, the team offers a number of training groups to meet their different needs.

Description of Southwest Worship Gatherings
Physical Therapy
If you have pain or are restricted in your daily activities,
our staff will work closely with your doctor to design and
implement a personalized treatment program. We use
manual procedures and exercise, plus education, to improve your strength and range of movement while decreasing your pain.
 Practical & Relevant
 Warm & Casual
 Caring Nursery & Dedicated Volunteers
 Youth & Children Friendly
 Modern Music & Media
(Both Sunday Morning Worship Gatherings are identical in design
and style)
Sunday Worship Gatherings
Our program begins with a comprehensive evaluation to
determine how we can best restore your physical capacity. Then, we design each treatment session to address
your current condition and promote future health.
Aquatic Therapy
In addition to traditional physical therapy, we offer
aquatic therapy. Exercising in the water provides shock
absorption and support to your body's joints and muscles. Aquatic therapy allows you to benefit from exercise
without placing stress on your body. Plus, the warm water and hydrostatic pressure improve your circulation
and decrease swelling.
While some states (including Ohio) recognize traditional
and aquatic physical therapy, most insurance companies
still require a prescription, particularly for aquatic therapy. For more information about physical therapy, ask
your doctor or contact our clinic inside the Coffman
YMCA at 937-886-1511.
