The Personnel Committee assisted by the other members of the Nominating Committee sought to identify a cross section of members
that would represent the various groups and ministries in our church.

First Baptist has been her home since 1997. Her first
service opportunity was as directors in the young married
class with her husband Jonathan, then shortly after she
become par t of the Women's Connection, and also sat on
t h e C o m m u n i t y H o p e C e n t e r B o a r d o f D i r e c t o r s. H e r g r e a t e s t
j o y i s t e a c h i n g t h e 3 y e a r o l d s i n Tr e a s u r e C o v e. A n a a n d
Jon feel blessed to have spent the last 19 years at First
B a p t i s t a n d a r e b l e s s e d t o r a i s e t h e i r k i d s h e r e.
G a r y h a s b e e n a m e m b e r f o r 1 2 y e a r s. H i s p r i m a r y
r e s p o n s i b i l i t i e s h a v e b e e n B i b l e Te a c h e r a n d D e a c o n .
He and his wife Charisse have also participated in the
Christmas Pageant and have supported youth and mission
t r i p s. H e i s a g r a d u a t e o f t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f F l o r i d a a n d
S o u t h w e s t e r n B a p t i s t T h e o l o g i c a l S e m i n a r y. H e h a s
pastored four Southern Baptist churches and has served as
a professional hospice chaplain since 2006.
Sandy joined the First Baptist fellowship in 1958. She
volunteered with the Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant as
P a g e a n t C o o r d i n a t o r f o r 2 2 y e a r s. S h e s e r v e d o n t h e S e a r c h
Committee that brought Pastor Thompson to First Baptist.
Gordon has been a Christian most of his life and has
a t t e n d e d F i r s t B a p t i s t o v e r t h e l a s t 2 4 y e a r s. C u r r e n t l y, h e
is married with four children ages one through eight, and
is Chief Medical Officer at ChenMed which provides primary
c a r e t o S e n i o r s. H e a n d h i s f a m i l y l i v e i n W e s t o n , F L a n d
are active in medical missions trips to Nicaragua.
Stephanie has been a member of First Baptist since she was
3 years old. Stephanie was married to Chris Chen by Pastor
Larry in 1999. They have 4 children who are active at the
church. They have been hosting a Neighborhood Group
since 2010 and are active participants in Sunday Morning
BLGs and Parent's Night Out. She also regularly attends the
S h e r i d a n H o u s e W o m a n s B i b l e S t u d y.
Damon has been a member since 1999 and met his wife
in 2001 on a First Baptist mission trip to Russia. Since
2001, he has served as a Deacon and was a member of
the Stewardship Committee through the Forward by Faith
Campaign. He has also been a member of the Finance
team, serving as Chairman. He and his wife have served in
various leadership capacities for small groups and regularly
v o l u n t e e r i n a v a r i e t y o f d i f f e r e n t m i n i s t r i e s.

D u r i n g t h e i r t i m e h e r e t h e y h a v e b e e n i n v o l v e d w i t h Tr e a s u r e
C o v e, M e n ' s S o f t b a l l M i n i s t r y, t h e M e n ' s M i n i s t r y a n d h a v e
served on the Deacon Fellowship since 2009. Their passion
i s h e l p i n g p e o p l e a n d o u r c o m m u n i t y. S t e v e w a n t s t o s e e
the church grow and spread the Good News deep in the
S o u t h F l o r i d a c o m m u n i t y.
Jonathan joined the First Baptist family in the fall of 2011 and
s e r v e s w i t h Yo u n g P r o f e s s i o n a l s, V e l o c i t y S t u d e n t s, t h e S u n d a y
m o r n i n g p r o d u c t i o n c r e w, a n d t h e D e a c o n ' s h o s p i t a l i t y t e a m .
A regular attendee of First Baptist since 1994 with
C h r i s, h e r h u s b a n d o f 2 3 y e a r s. T h e y h a v e t w o d a u g h t e r s,
J a z z m y n e & B a y l e i g h . To g e t h e r t h e y h a v e s e r v e d i n t h e
p a r e n t i n g m i n i s t r y, C h i l d r e n ' s P a g e a n t m i n i s t r y, a n d D e a c o n
F e l l o w s h i p a m o n g o t h e r s. S h e c u r r e n t l y w o r k s f o r t h e Y M C A
o f S o u t h F l o r i d a a s a n A s s o c i a t e D e v e l o p m e n t D i r e c t o r.
Wendy came to First Baptist as a college student in 1983 and
joined after moving back home in 1986. She was involved
in the singles ministry and taught in the New Beginnings
c l a s s. S h e m e t h e r h u s b a n d S t e v e a n d g o t m a r r i e d i n t h e
"old church." After returning from 8 years on the mission
f i e l d t h e y r a i s e d t h e i r t h r e e d a u g h t e r s h e r e. T h e y h a v e b e e n
a p a r t o f t h e S U V g r o u p a n d t h e Yo u t h f o r t h e p a s t 1 3 y e a r s.
FBC is their family!
AJ has been a member since 2006. He currently serves with
t h e D e a c o n F e l l o w s h i p, t h e M e d i a M i n i s t r y, h a s p a r t i c i p a t e d
w i t h t h e C h r i s t m a s P a g e a n t o n t h e P r o p s Te a m f o r t h e p a s t
7 y e a r s, a n d f o r t h e p a s t y e a r h e h a s b e e n t h e l e a d t e a c h e r
f o r t h e F r i e n d s & F o l l o w e r s B L G. H e a n d h i s w i f e J u d y h a v e
enjoyed 39 years of marriage and have 3 grown children.
