Waterproof protection for dogs
With K9 Advantix® II, there is no need to reapply after a monthly bath or
weekly swimming. A study has shown that the combination of imidacloprid
and permethrin will continue to be effective after exposure to water – whether
your dog has gone for a swim, has been given a bath or has been in the rain.3
WATERPROOF
This waterproof protection can be used on puppies as young as seven
weeks of age. Consider recommending a soap-free shampoo and towel
dry before monthly application.

What makes repellency so important?
If a flea, tick or mosquito is repelled or killed, it cannot bite or attach and transmit the organisms
that may cause disease. Your clients need to know that not all products repel and kill.
Fleas
Vector-borne diseases are mostly transmitted once a parasite bites or attaches to the host.
Even if the parasite dies later on, transmission may have already occurred, and the disease may
still be spread to the host dog. That’s why repelling or killing parasites is so crucial in a
pet owner’s approach to caring for their dog’s overall health.

The fully fed (replete) female tick will now detach and drop into the environment,
ready to lay thousands of eggs and potentially leaving behind, in the dog, agents
that may result in diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis and
Rocky Mountain spotted fever. The female tick may also pass parasites or
infectious agents to her offspring through transovarial transmission.

When an infected parasite (such as a tick, flea or mosquito) attaches or bites and feeds on
the blood of a dog, it can pass the pathogen from itself to the new host. Ticks are competent
vectors because they feed on several hosts, molt through different life stages, require large
blood meals, and feed for long periods of time.1

The following studies support imidacloprid + permethrin, two of the active ingredients
in K9 Advantix® II.
By effectively repelling and killing I. scapularis (deer tick), K9 Advantix® II may help
reduce the risk of Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) transmission*1,2
•• Two separate studies differing only by tick challenge study days (day 7 vs. day 25)
•• Each study contained one group of 8 dogs treated on day 0 with imidacloprid and
permethrin, and one control group of 8 dogs

(Ctenocephalies felis). A total of seven (7) dogs were treated with Advantage® Topical Solution. Seven (7) days after application,
areas on the dogs were shaved to allow visual observation. A petri dish was attached over each spot, and then infested with
up to 100 fleas. In all replicates, the fleas stopped their feeding activity and started tetanic trembling movements within
3–5 minutes. In one hour, all fleas were dead.

Imidacloprid, an active ingredient in K9 Advantix® II, is effective against adult fleas and larval
flea stages. In addition to its adulticide flea efficacy, imidacloprid demonstrates a larvicidal flea
efficacy when the larvae in the dog’s surroundings come into contact with the K9 Advantix® IItreated dog. Another benefit of imidacloprid is that fleas do not need to bite the treated animal
to be exposed to the active ingredient.
K9 Advantix® II contains pyriproxyfen, an IGR that contains ovicidal and larvicidal properties to
target flea infestations.

In addition to year-round protection with a heartworm preventive, the American Heartworm
Society recommends the following steps to help reduce pet exposure to mosquitoes1:

Is it sufficient to just treat the infested dog?
A No. Fleas can jump up to 18.5 inches forward and 6.5 inches high,4
so all dogs in the home should be treated, since the infested dog is
likely to pass on fleas to other dogs he is in contact with.
Q Can I use K9 Advantix® II on my cat?
A No. K9 Advantix® II is specifically formulated for dogs. Cats have a

HAZARDS TO HUMANS
WARNING. Causes substantial but temporary eye injury. Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Harmful if
swallowed. Harmful if absorbed through skin. Avoid contact with skin. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after
handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. Remove and wash
contaminated clothing before reuse.
HAZARDS TO DOMESTIC ANIMALS
For external use on dogs only. Do not use on animals other than dogs. Do not use on puppies under
seven weeks of age or weighing less than 4 lbs.
Do not get this product in dog’s eyes or mouth. As with any product, consult your veterinarian before using this
product on debilitated, aged, pregnant or nursing animals. Individual sensitivities, while rare, may occur after
using ANY pesticide product for dogs. If signs persist, or become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately.
If your animal is on medication, consult your veterinarian before using this or any other product.
Side Effects
Monitor your dog after application, Side effects, although very rare, may include signs of skin irritation such as
redness, scratching, or other signs of discomfort. Gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting or diarrhea have also been
reported. If these or other side effects (such as lethargy) occur, consult your veterinarian or call 1-800-422-9874.
DO NOT USE ON CATS – MAY BE FATAL.
Keep cats away from treated dogs for 24 hours. If applied to a cat or ingested by a cat
contact your veterinarian immediately.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
This product is extremely toxic to acquatic organisms, including fish and invertebrates. Do not add directly
to water. Do not contaminate water when disposing of product or packaging.
FIRST AID
• Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15–20 minutes. Remove
contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye.
• Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.
If swallowed: • Call poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have person
sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by
the poison control center or doctor.
• Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
If on skin
• Take off contaminated clothing.

7. Discard empty tube as described in Storage and Disposal.
8. In cases of severe pest infestations, retreatment is allowable earlier than four (4) weeks. Do not retreat more
often than once every seven (7) days. After pest control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
The successive feeding activity of fleas on dogs may elicit a hypersensitivity skin disorder known as flea
allergy dermatitis (FAD). Treatment of dogs with K9 Advantix® II rapidly kills fleas and may reduce the
incidence of this condition.
K9 Advantix® II kills existing fleas on dogs within 12 hours. Reinfesting fleas are killed within 2 hours with
protection against further flea infestation lasting at least four (4) weeks. Pre-existing pupae in the environment

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from freezing.
Pesticide Disposal and Container Handling: Nonrefillable container.
If empty: Do not reuse this container.
Place in trash or offer for recycling, if available.
If partly filled: Call your local solid waste agency or 1-800-422-9874 for disposal instructions. Never
place unused product down any indoor or outdoor drain.
