On behalf of the entire Watkins Glen International team, we’re pleased to welcome you to the Fan Ambassador Program! The Fan Ambassador Program at Watkins Glen International, the premier road racing facility in the United States, will be celebrating its 6th year of service. The following position pamphlet contains information for certain jobs during the upcoming race season. This pamphlet describes the tasks that are associated with each of the jobs and which field of work they are related to. You will also find who the contact person is and where you will be meeting to start your shift as well as points of emphasis you should focus on for that job. Positions: • Photographers • Media Center Assistant • Media Center Lunch Room Assistant • Media Shuttle Driver • Media Center Main Entrance Assistant Photographers will be expected to take pictures of the following: • Displays • Hospitality • Fans • Full Grandstands • Camping • Signage • Races • Capture the Moment • A more detailed list will be provided closer to the event date • Photographers must attend the “Photographer’s Meeting” to receive photographer’s vest and instructions The Photographer’s point of contact is Chris Banker in the Media Center at 607-331-9070. Report to location assigned. The Media Center assistant will be expected to assist the marketing team with various tasks. These can include: • Making copies • Running errands • Escorting guests The Media Center Assistant’s point of contact is Chris Banker in the Media Center at 607-331-9070. Report to the Front Desk in the Media Center. The Media Center Lunch Assistant will be expected to check credentials to allow guests access to the lunch room in the Media Center. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper credentials. The Media Center Lunch Assistant’s point of contact is Chris Banker at 607-331-9070. Report to the Lunch Room on the 2nd floor of the Media Center. The Media Shuttle Driver will meet and greet media personnel and escort them to various locations as needed. (This individual may also serve as the Pre-Race Escort driver as needed.) The Media Shuttle Driver’s point of contact is Chris Banker at 607-3319070. Report to the Front Desk in the Media Center. The Media Center main entrance assistant will be expected to check credentials to allow guest’s access to the Media Center. You will also act as a friendly, welcoming face to members of the media/guests that enter the Media Center. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper credentials. The Media Center Main Entrance Assistant’s point of contact is Chris Banker at 607-331-9070. Report to the Front Desk in the Media Center. Positions: • • • Ticket Office and Will Call Assistant Gate Assistant Credentials Assistant The Ticketing and Will Call Assistants will be expected to retrieve tickets for fans left in Will Call and assist with ticketing questions. Fan Ambassadors may assist in answering questions and provide information regarding the area and the track. They will also help to keep things organized for the employees in the Ticket Office. The Ticket Office & Will Call Assistant’s point of contact will be Jose Cervantes at 607-331-3751. Report to the Ticket Office. Gate Assistants will be expected to direct traffic, scan tickets or pass out information. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper tickets or credentials. They will also act as the welcoming committee by engaging with fans. The Gate Assistant’s point of contact will be Gregg Goltry at 607228-7105. Report to gate location assigned. The Credentials Assistants will assist guests at the Registration office parking lot with facility questions, guidance to Will Call pickup, ticket purchases or credential pickups. They will also act as a welcoming friendly face to guests when they arrive. The point of contact for the Credentials office will be Anne Williams at 607-535-3371. Report to the Registration Building. Positions: • • • • • Glen Club Assistant The Grove Assistant Tower Suites Assistant The Bog Assistant Fan Walk Assistant The Glen Club Assistant will be expected to check credentials to allow guests access. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper credentials. They will also act as the welcoming committee by engaging with fans. Fan Ambassadors may also be asked to assist with Driver Q&A set up. The Glen Club Assistant’s point of contact will be Rob Murphy at 607-481-0655 or Harvey Harris at 607-742-1479. Report to the Glen Club. Grove Assistants will be expected to check credentials to allow guests access. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper credentials. They will also act as the welcoming committee by engaging with fans and handing out give-a-way items. Fan Ambassadors may also be asked to assist with Driver Q&A set up. The Grove Assistant’s point of contact will be Cindy Lewis-Black at 607-331-7395. Report to The Grove located near the Pedestrian Bridge. The Tower Suite Assistant will be expected to check credentials to allow guests access to the Tower Suites hospitality area. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper credentials. They will also act as the welcoming committee by engaging with fans. The Tower Suite Assistant's point of contact for the Tower Suites will be Cindy Lewis-Black at 607-331-7395. Report to the Tower Suites. You are welcoming the guest to this trackside hospitality experience. You may be helping with directions or making sure the guest has the proper credential/wristband to be in that area. In addition you will assist with handing out drink chips and give-a-way items. The Bog Assistant’s point of contact is Cindy Lewis-Black at 607331-7395. Report to the Bog located near the Pedestrian Bridge. The Fan Walk Assistant will be expected to check credentials to allow guests access to the Fan Walk. Fan Ambassadors must feel comfortable denying guests without proper credentials. Fan Ambassadors will also be expected to assist in clearing the pits after the Fan Walk has ended. The Fan Walk Assistant’s point of contact is Cindy Lewis-Black at 607-331-7395. Report to location along Pit Road. Positions: • • • • Kiosk Recycling Assistant NASCAR 101 Assistant Pace Car Ride Assistant Hot Dog Eating Contest Assistant The Kiosk Recycling Assistants will be assigned to a kiosk where they will greet fans as they approach and receive recyclables. In turn, Fan Ambassadors will reward fans with points that can be redeemed for WGI prizes. The Kiosk Recycling Assistant’s point of contact will be Alan Wendlandt at 607-481-0674. Report to location at the Recycling Kiosk in Camping area H1, by Stand 5, or in Gate 1 Camping. Assist summer interns with greeting fans who come to booth. Encourage them to participate in contests, answer questions, etc. The NASCAR 101 Assistant’s point of contact is Hannah Lawrence at 607-229-6793. Report to NASCAR 101 booth on Display Row. Assist in managing lines for pace car rides, and provide help with opening doors, keeping the area safe, and helping buckle people in. The Pace Car Ride Assistant’s point of contact is Mike Eckert at 607-8575493. Report to location on Pit Road. During the Sahlen’s event weekend, the Hot Dog Eating Contest Assistants will be expected to help staff members set up and run the contest. You may be helping to count hot dogs consumed. They will be interacting with fans of all ages that are spectating and participating. The Hot Dog Eating Contest Assistant’s point of contact for the contest will be Jeff Nelson at 607-267-1805. Report to the stage in the Budweiser Garage area.
