'wATERLOO.
Waterloo; the sister c1ty of Berlin, is situated on the north
It
is a distanc~ of two rriiles. frorri market to market, witli no apparent division, as well built houses are erected on all sides, and
is connected by a direct street car route, owned by the town of
B'eriin,
.. The. popuiation of W atedoo is in the neighborhood of five
thousand; and consists mostly of German speaking people or their
de'sceii.dants. Its chief industries are furniture, shoes, whiskev
dis'tilh:ry, breweries, collar factories, cigars, flour, planing mills,
etc. Last, but not least, the well known Waterloo Manufacturing
Co., whose output co:J.sists of traction and other engines and most
up-to-date threshing outfits and other implements used most extensively on the farm. Waterloo is noted for having within its
environs the well known head of the Ontario Jockey Club Association in the person of Mr. Jos. E. Seagram, whose record in capturing the King and Queen's plate amou'lts to ro to r2 winners.
Waterloo is to be congratulated on having such men at the head
of its affairs to assist in the upbuilding of a town so widely known
throughout ·the Dominion.
The surrounding country consists of some of the finest farming land in Canada. The G. T. R. and C.P.R. both enter the town
and it has every facility for easy transportation,
The progress of \Vaterloo is entirely due to the business
capability of its manufacturers. They do not claim to receive any
stimulus whatever from outside sources, but maintain that other
towns and cities, both larger or smaller, are animated by the excellent showing made by this town especially the last few years of
its existence.
A conservative feeling exists in the Town of Waterloo, which
affects its citizens in such a manner as to make them the copyrighters of their undertakings.
Manufacturers contemplating a good live location are requested to correspond with their municipal officers and every facility
will be rendered.
The magnificent buildings and residences are proof of the
wealth contained within its border, and would-be citizens are wcl'COmed to one of the loveliest spots in Canada.
~lcle, fiiHi is comri:wnly known as one of the "Twin Cities."
